Who remembers this VHS with the super nintendo cheat codes by Todd Pettengill at end of tape????...good ol' Coliseum video.... Thanks Conrad for such a badass podcast. Been listening for a couple years now. Roll tide...
Too bad the game they had codes for was crap(Wrestlemania the Arcade Game). I wish they would've made a game like Fire Pro that had those same graphics.
@ Me either, best game then was steel cage for sega cd. Only thing it was missing was Royal Rumble, tag team matches and Hogan and Warrior. But overall a big roster for those days and pretty cool having the cage.
Last night, I had a dream that I was at a restaurant eating, looked up, and saw Bruce. I walked over and said hello, and he gave me a big smile and a handshake. I need to take a long, hard look at my life.
I was born in the states in 82. My family moved to Europe in 1990, and by then I was hooked as a fan just by catching the 89’ Wwf PPV’s. My cousin would send me VHS tapes of all the ppv’s except 90 and 97. I look at back and remember how different the company became year after year. All the little changes in presentation, the characters, the announcing, logos etc. This royal rumble felt different. But so did 94 survivor series. Man those were the days as a kid. After 96 he stopped sending me tapes. When I returned to the states in 97/98, you can imagine my shock at how the landscape had changed. Bret was gone from WWF, Shawn formed DX, and Hogan took over WCW with Razor and Diesel. Even if I had a million chances, I couldn’t predict these turn of events. Yea wasnt that the year they hyped saying it will be the craziest Rumble yet? It was done in about 35 mins. And HBK was great in it but other than that it sucked. It was every 30 seconds I think not even 60. The match official duration is 30 mins and 39 second's. Unless that site's also wrong.
@@johncap7201 Yeah, but even Shawn's greatness was compromised by the fact that he didn't have to last 60 minutes from the number one position. Many people who DIDN'T win the Rumble over the years lasted longer than Shawn did in '95 as the winner.

Love the Bret vs Diesel match and it really pissed me off in the moment how they wouldn’t DQ Bret after all the underhanded tactics. Plus the ref was seemingly favoring Bret. Allowed him to use a chair, and made Diesel back off of him as he was playing possum. Then doesn’t put the turnbuckle pad back on after Owen interferes. Just didn’t make sense to me, as they DQ matches all the time for much less. I was halfway expecting them to continue again after everyone hit the ring. Lmao! Good stuff, I enjoyed it.
I believe D-Von Dudley has never been in a Royal Rumble either, despite being on multiple Rumble PPV cards. In fact, it was both Bubba and D-Von who had never been in a Rumble match until that one year Bubba made a surprise appearance (2015? 2016?)
I would put this Royal Rumble in my top 10. The Rumble was actually only about a minute for entrants. Shawn Micheals was in there for 38:41. I wished there were video for this episode. It would have been funny to see the facial of Conrad when he asked about the mantaour character that was some funny shit. I thought they used the celebs right. I dont know what Meltzer is drinking. It was plain as day the directions for celeb heading into mania 11. I would say from 94-96 was a rebuilding year for WWE after the steroid trial.
I been wondering for years can WWE now pull off another one like this but with 90 seconds and go for 1 hour iron man style. I understand Rey and HHH went the distant but both men werent the final 2. Somehow wanna see a recreation though.

On top of that 2 of the other bigger names in this match were Owen Hart and Bob Backlund and neither lasted very long thanks to Bret's interference. There were basically zero full-time main eventers in this match at the time. This was the beginning of HBK becoming a regular main eventer but he wasn't there yet. Owen, Backlund, and Luger all had brief stints as main eventers but by this point were basically upper mid-card guys who could do occasional main event duty. I don't recall Davey main eventing a PPV outside of the UK but he was a solid upper mid-card guy like the rest mentioned. HBK would eventually go on to be the biggest name, but going into this match that was probably Luger who barely had a storyline at this point.
Yeah I remember this year because I didn't have cable tv so I couldn't watch Raw and Superstars was on at about 3am early Sunday morning so couldn't watch any wrestling. Dark times...

This Royal Rumble was supposed to be in Buffalo New York my hometown best city in the world LOL easy now. But there was a conflict in schedule so they moved it to Tampa Bay oh well one day we'll get a big for pay-per-view here in the seven one six. By the way anybody hear about when he was talking about Vinnie Paz? Boxing? Is it the Vinnie Paz the rapper from Philadelphia????? Anyways happy New Year hope this year brings you all good health and good wealth greetings from Buffalo New York by the way San Francisco wins the Superbowl 35 17 over Kansas City
I get that Conrad is technically loosely employed by WWE, but he needs to stop with the "we" and "we're" when he's talking about things from the past. He wasn't a part of the business in '95 to say "we weren't drawing big numbers."
I was ok with Rumble 95. Not the best but then not the worst. I liked the match between Bret and Diesel, but too many run ins spoiled it for, even though there was a story to it, that slowly burned to SS 95. didn't like Rumble. Too short, too quick and Shawn was the only credible winner. Shawn lasting 29 guys in as many minutes was a bit tainted. Sione was Sione, not Barb because he was a head shrinker. also, my fav Mo moment was Rumble 94 when he was potatoed and heard shouting, 'Ah Shit!'
Nobody I know that watched wrestling in the attitude era watch it now and ask why I do. They all moved onto MMA. The UFC does pro wrestling better than wrestling does. I mean I'm sure there are some MMA fighters that really wanna fight and don't like eachother but the majority do wrestling build ups. WWE needs to pay attention. To them.
Bullion Bully B-Clay nothing WWE can do about it. Everyone knows WWE is predetermined, some ufc fights do have guys going back & forth cutting promos on each other before the fight but end of the day when they’re scheduled to fight , those dudes really fight. Some people like “sports entertainment “ which I do too, but I like mma better because it’s real. Two dudes trapped in the octagon trying to punish the other , that’s the difference

The Owen thing was storyline, but man .... they could have used him being in there for 20 mins cause they lacked star power BAD.
True very lack of starpower. Owen and Backlund deserved more time. Also Luger was saved for the second half was best for him. They shouldve have done more with Mabel and Bundy with more time they them both consider as "HEAVY" favorite.
I still am shaking my head on Bam Bam vs LT as the main event.
I used to rent this Ppv on VHS like twice a month for years and I'd always hit ( stop & rewind ) going into the main event.
What a yawn.
Nobody cared except Vince and his yes men
why didn't you buy it at that point? ha
Ths rumble Is when i became a shawn mark,
Honestly good guy shawn michaels always bored me to tears. I always preferred Shawn as a cocky heel. Sadly his entire 2nd run from 2002 to the end was like 99 percent face work.
I agree, I never bought Shawn as a babyface. It was too forced and too phony. He was deliciously enjoyable as a cocky bastard heel.
@J Crash he was a pretty brutal heel with his feud with hogan though lol
When did you become an ugly-ass dog mark?
Hated the faster rumble thing. Wait all year for it an was giving this shit.
When they cut up the announcing, that was around the time when the SUPER cynical critic was in the media. Everything sucks, it's all a bore, sooooo last year.
Had it been in Buffalo the crowd reactions would have been way better.
I get that Conrad is technically loosely employed by WWE, but he needs to stop with the "we" and "we're" when he's talking about things from the past. He wasn't a part of the business in '95 to say "we weren't drawing big numbers."
"buy the expensive tickets guys"-it just shows how far from reality from the average Joe that millionaires like Conrad are
I was ok with Rumble 95.
Thanks 4 answering q
This rumble is by far the worst i've seen... only 60 seconds between entrants.... jobbers galore
I cannot believe I heard Bruce Prichard said he thought this shit was good. SMH
96 wasnt dat good either
1999 is the worst
@@justin9767 1996 > 1995
@@eeeeewewew Naw. 1995 is HORRIBLE.
@@Joeyfingaz1 some MMA is ok but most is boring to me lol
Can you smelllllllllllllllllll, what the brock is cooking
Naw he only comes to the kitchen twice a year so he doesn't have anything cooking
