I remember seeing the Harrier in a James Bond movie. From that day to this day, my fascination with the plane remains the same. Lovely video. I thoroughly enjoyed the very steady filming.
Thank you I've really been working on my steady hard while filming videos! Keeping the long form viewer in mind when I'm at a show! I'm honored to have been able to catch its last airshow demo!
They were a common sight in the UK at one time. I live near RAF Wittering, where they were based and saw them every day. There is still a Harrier gate guard on the entrance to RAF Wittering and can be seen from the A1 road.
@@PrestonMonoc You got way better taxi footage than I got both days. Also way better footage than I got the first day. Ended up being like 10 people back the first day and some girl was on her dads shoulders and blocked part of the hover....looking back at the footage I don't think she really cared about seeing the harrier, she was more interested in looking at the ground. Sigh.
It really is! Even today you can argue this is still a valid aircraft to have ready at a moments notice! But the F-35 has a lot of things that sadly the AV-8B does not bring to the table.
10 years ago we had 8 squadrons, now we are down to 2. Next year we we’ll have 1 unit left. All but less than 40 harriers (estimate) have been scrapped. They can’t be used for a long time if there aren’t many left
Hay FFS, just had an idea. Why not send the retiring Harriers to Ukraine! Probably better than F16s as they can operate from no/poorly prepared areas. Would be a real PITA for the Russians.

That was some fancy flying. Brilliant.
Solid pilot for sure!

It is! Such a great aircraft its very nibble!
What a beautiful iron bird!
It really is a stunning aircraft!
A lot of it is made from carbon fiber composites.
Great video! I was there also. It was a honor to see that final flight.
What an airshow! The harrier was a class act!
Ground breaking machine!
ahead of its time!

That's awesome! The harrier will truly be missed!
The pilot seems to be a showman waving to everybody around and enjoying himself.Full throttle STOL takeoff.
He was a very great performer and he was very happy to fly!

It will be sad to see them go. Especially VMA-231: "The Ace of Spaces."
Yeah! it's really hard to watch them phase these out.. very sad!
Pretty cool stuff. I assume this was from Saturday and Sunday?
Thank you! Yes this is footage of both days! The 2nd days taxi out was cut short due to the Raptor shooting flares over head!

Man that really stinks! I was very blessed to have a media pass and got in early to get a good spot.
@@PrestonMonoc For sure, at least someone got good footage of the performance =)
The Harriet II has a digital flight control system, instead of a hydro mechanicable system, as the narrator said.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Sad to see a cool jet go away
It's super sad! I hate that its going to be retired!
Black Aces!
Sure is!
Ufo crossing behind harrier at 5.19 , just a flash because video was cut.
It was an airliner in the background great catch!
an advanced fighter even in the past ....

MCAS CP was my last posting. Fantastc base and folks.
Thats so cool! Thanks for sharing that the base was really nice!
Anyone saying they are retired is a fool. Will be in use long time just like the U2.
It has been slated for a 2026 retirement! We shall see if its extended!

🤔🤔🤔
Because the F-16 is a multi- role aircraft and the Harrier is a ground attack platform,!

More noise. Id. Ever. Heard
Yeah this beast is super super loud and noisy!
Yak141 vstol is better than this old flying craft
Valid argument!
Piss off! Harrier would eat it for breakfast (in good hands)
Poorly edited video this is 👎
