Absolutely one of the most infamous OST in anime. Any person who's seen Re:Zero will get goosebumps hearing this again. The OST accompanies one of the best scenes in the entire show, one which propelled the show into mainstream. I cannot wait to see your reaction to that scene one day!
And to think that a lot of people dropped the show right before it because of the previous episode, or rather one before it, as I take episode 14 and 15 as one episode (it is incredibly hard to watch due to how cringe Subaru is but...).
Fun fact: this was played in episode 15, and the director was so impressed by this score that he timed the episode to the music, instead of the norm and doing the opposite. In addition, just like you noticed, Kenichiro Suehiro, the composer, wrote Re:Zero's OST's to sound cinematic. You have a great ear for these things!
Yep. Scenes arranged so that the entire song plays during the final 7 minutes of the episode. And the entire episode is like getting pummeled by gut punches for 24 minutes, from start to finish. I've heard more than one person say that they were laying in a fetal position for a couple of hours from the shock of the episode, it hits that hard. I still get teary-eyed listening to "Requiem of Silence" / "Elegy for Rem" (latter is an alternate title), years later. And Kenichiro Suehiro has made more pieces for Re:Zero, check out "The Eternal Freezing of Elior Forest" and "The Determination for the Trial" from the Season 2 Cour 2 soundtrack. There's 2 seasons out so far, so 2 times 26 times 25 minutes.

The Re:Zero OST is so memorable, you can clearly picture the scenes in your mind as they play. Can't wait for you to hear this play again when you watch the show. Requiem of Silence is like the upgraded and exclusive version of another prominent Re:zero OST called Chain of Memories. Chain is used throughout the show for similar scenes or emotional times but Requiem is used only once in the whole show.
@@bilirain I know, right? I wish that so many people would stop hating on Subaru because he’s not overpowered. In fact, I consider him to be one of the best written MC’s I've seen, and if people would stop hating on him for being realistically afraid, weak, and flawed, they’d have a great time watching a great anime. Edit: I totally get why people don't like him - in fact, I almost dropped the show because of that one certain episode that brings out the worst in him - but if they could stick with Subaru and not give up on him, his development really comes through.
As a new anime fan, you NEED to watch this masterpiece. Re:Zero is by far one of the best pieces of fiction to this date. And it hasn't even ended yet.
This scene is so sad and emotional, it's cool to see you beginning to feel that way even just from the OST. Very much looking forward to your Re:Zero reaction when that starts, it's my favorite anime of all time and is one of the best examples of contrast between extremely strong happiness and sadness. Thanks for the reaction!
The episode/szene where this is playing made me fall in love with re zero and made it my favourite anime of all time. They could not have chosen a better song to go along with this moment
I've been rewatching this video so much now, 9 months before you even watched the anime and now, weeks after you watched "the episode", im curious about what you will think hearing this after watching the anime. Btw I'm still listening to this OST like daily, it's too good
Studio White Fox went all out on episode 15 of ReZero the production value of just this episode alone surpassed any sort of expectations I had and reached Hollywood production status. Everything from the ost to the voice actors to the background animation was top notch! Even the ending credits were changed and modified to roll out like the credits at the end of a movie, a truly unique experience with an Oscar worthy performance!
Man all the feelings just flowed back into me. The episode paired with this OST sent me into a state of perpetual petrification. I'm a seasoned anime watcher and I can adamantly say that I've never been left just staring at a screen so mindlessly before. The entire episode was masterfully done.
Looking back at this video now that you have watched the actual episode in your reaction. Now you know what scene is related to this song... Welcome to one of the most intense endings to an episode ever to air in anime.
Re zero is very good, I went into it with low expectations since I don't like "isekai" anime and was pleasantly surprised. The music and the way it tells the story is amazing! As for your question, yeah I don't think it would be a good Friday anime as of now since it's as long as slime anime and would take a year+ to finish it on a 1ep per week basis. 24 ep = around half a year 48 ep = a year+ 12 ep = 3 months
Yeah, this song plays in episode 15. It's probably the episode where people realize Re:Zero is a masterpiece. The show starts out great and just gets better.
Another fantastic OST from Re Zero is Takt of Heroes - Origin You should consider reacting to that aswell 😉 Edit: Re Zero has around 50 Episodes with both seasons combined aswell as 2 OVAs , the one called Frozen Bonds being very important and should be watched before season 2
@@tearlach47 It's not "NEEDED" but it's worth watching, it bridges the Emilia back story into season 2's themes better. I enjoyed my first watch, but rewatching that movie is kinda eh
All 3 takt of heroes should be listened to imo First one is good, origin is incredible, and awakening is very different but also incredible in a different type of way
This score is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever produced imo. I have yet managed to listen to this score without crying. For fans of the anime, the score has a very special place in our hearts, and once you get to that point where this plays, you will understand why!
I don't usually give likes or comments before watching a video but this time I watched about the first 40 seconds and paused before your reaction just to like and comment the video. That's how confident I'm in this one. This is one OST that is absolutely worth reacting to, and I strongly believe this will be a good reaction video. Maybe I'll edit this comment after watching the rest of the video to tell what I thought of it, or maybe not. Anyway, I'm really excited! Edit: At 4:34 right now. I just have to say that when I heard this during Re:Zero, it hit so hard that I felt like I was watching like ending credits of a movie trilogy or something, and if the anime had actually stopped there I would have stared the screen in utter amazement thinking how sad and beautiful it was. That's the kind of impression I had at the time. This OST is still beautiful but with the right context it hits ten times... no, a hundred times harder. Please, let me take that back. It hits at least a million times harder. Edit 2: I hope that whenever you start reacting to Re:Zero those reactions will be available on UA-cam because it can be hard to always be on Twitch due to time zones, work or for other reasons on weekdays or weekends. I'd really hate to miss your reactions to Re:Zero because it is one of my top 3 favorite anime alongside with Madoka Magica and Clannad.
The first time I saw this scene, it was that exact moment I realized I've been watching something else. This was no ordinary show, this was so well written, elaborated, composed, well-handled and with so much care, it was almost overwhelming, a masterpiece. I'm not even exaggerating, that's what I thought watching this, it was something special. And this scene GOD. I founded myself looking at the black screen for like 5 minutes after the episode had ended.
The composer Kenichiro Suehiro is a absolute master at what i like to call 'making the melody weep'. It's really amazing and you can pick up on in several of his compositions for Re:zero. What it is is like emulating the deep heave and rattle your own body goes through when sobbing. It's a universal recognition he's transitioned into music, and it fucking works. I think the Re:zero OST with the most identifiable example of this is "The Past’s Destination". That's a song that really feels like it has collapsed and cries out. It's more like a release than sadness.
When you talked about which scene could accompany this ost while playing, i was thinking that, probably, is quite far from what you and i would expect. I'm pretty confident that in any other anime i would just skip the scene or not pay much attention to it. Yet there i was, staring at the screen in silence while crying for the whole time, just admiring the perfection of the scene. Only re:zero could create that
ahh yes rezero truly goated... i wish you would know what scene is going on while this is playing, cant wait for your eventual anime reaction!! I gurantee you will be mind blown by this show
If we're going into OSTs specifically, then Isabella's Lullaby is definitely up there. As for an ensemble list of OSTs, then Kevin Penkin's Made in Abyss score is just amazingly beautiful!
"It feel like a 'final episode' kind of theme." Luke, this is still technically the prologue. Even the main character says that his story doesn't truly start until three episodes after the one that uses this song. That's just the kind of show that Re:Zero is.
Fun Fact 1. The Authors of Konosuba And Re:Zero Know each other since College they flipped a coin to see which Author used which characters would appear. Fun Fact 2. The Japanese Band Myth And Roid did the Ost's of OVERLORD THE SAGA OF TANYA THE EVIL THE HERO IS OVERPOWERED BUT OVERLY CAUTIOUS MADE IN THE ABYSS
Re Zero is a very cinematic, passionate and high budget series if you couldn't tell by the ost. Each episode feels like a movie and there's lots of crazy cinematic shots and stuff it's really high quality.
I saw Re: zero on broadcast and I swear to god I saw all the credits believing that it would be the end of the season and they would leave me without knowing what would happen ..! this ost is magic. but I think "Rondo of Love and Darkness" is the ost that best sums up this anime... I hope you react to this ost. and thanks for this reaction..😁
I love perfectly executed scenes like this, where the actual emotion comes from ... missing something. The lack of the actual ending caused by the black screen leaves you with your thoughts while this beautiful soundtrack plays. The other instance I reacted so strongly was with Houseki no Kuni. There is one scene when the song abruptly stops just before reaching it's climax but the scene goes on... goosebumps. And then the different ending.
This is so beautiful, I could listen to it over and over. It evokes so many emotions. I have not seen the anime so I will have to look it up. thanks! Your channel is the best! ❤👀
I can't wait until the day arrives where you start reacting to Re:Zero episodes! I will laugh, cry and get mad with you! For me this anime is right under AoT! Just incredible!
This episode is one of the reason why Re:Zero is on another level, i remember in 2016-2017 this episode break so many hearts and make everyone stare in screen for 2-3 minutes
I just can't wait to see you witness this masterpiece. You have no idea how this OST hits so hard on that particular episode, just complete hopelessness... Edit: I suggest reacting to the Re:Zero battle OST 'Takt of heroes'
You can’t even imagine the scene it plays in… One of the most beautiful and haunting anime ost. Also yes ost perfectly represents the scene it’s playing in and Re:Zero in general Kenichiro Surehiro did an amazing job! There’s 2 insert songs myth & Roid did called straight bet & theater d that also perfectly fit the scenes they’re in hope you’ll get to them as well with the subtitles on 🙏🏽 Yeah my eyes do that too lmao the teary eye part and the moving pic part The thing with Re:Zero is it’s very Information dense and a lot of plot points from older episodes might be relevant even a whole season later so it might be better to give it the 3 times a week slot after fmab as much as I want you to watch it as soon as possible On the 25th we might get a season 3 announcement after 3 years of wait so maybe it’ll perfectly line up when you watch it like with aot 👀 Also highly recommend the directors cut its 2 episodes stitched together and has some minor animations upgrades
I feel like a ton of the ost just work better later tbh, after he's seen the seens. Straight bet can be reacted to basically week 1 or 2 of re zero, theater d I forget which ost that is lol. As for the other 2 insert songs ( sung by voice actresses) those definitely needa be saved for their respective episodes.
@@addsy3653 straight bet plays for the first time in episode 7 then again episode 14 of season 2 TheaterD is end of episode 14 of season one imo they should be fine but the character songs for sure should be saved till after he finished the series
Funny to hear you say you can't believe such an amazing score from an anime. OMG my fav ost from anime, and from imo best episode in anime (of what i watched so far at least). I don't wanna say which ep it is on but when you hear that you will definitely know it. Tears literally fall down like a river on this episode.
There's a classic guitar version of this and it hits hard too. This song in any form messes me up. The other commenter who said "we all just stared as credits were rolling" wasn't lying. Very impactful song for an absurdly impactful scene

Not many series get me feeling giddy these days. This is one of the very few left to leave lasting impact.
@@kylewood4488-b9r I’m so glad I got to experience season 2 weekly, being able to theorize about next episodes and analyzing previous episodes for missed details. The negative part was the absolutely painful cliffhangers that happen nearly every episode.
Your hopium payed off
I can't believe you are finally reacting to this masterpiece. I am proud of the community who voted this on twitch because I am sure my youtube comments were never seen. This is so amazing, I can't stop getting teary eyes whenever I listen to it. The episode always give me chills.
This is the only song that never fails to make me cry when I hear it.
Idk if someone has recommended it before, but as far as OST goes, Made in Abyss OST by Kevin Penkin is absolute God Tier.

8 months later and he’s finally gotten to this episode in his reaction… and yep, it hit just as hard as it did the first time. Now you can imagine the scene we all imagined with us now Luke… This is an awesome OST… and painful… very painful…
All Re:Zero OSTs are stunning.
Absolutely beautiful this 💯
Requiem of Silence is like the upgraded and exclusive version of another prominent Re:zero OST called Chain of Memories. Chain is used throughout the show for similar scenes or emotional times but Requiem is used only once in the whole show.
Re:Zero's soundtrack is criminally underrated, and I can't wait for you to hear it when you start reacting to the series!
reason is most people watch OP MC and hate weak mc + annoying
And arc 6 will raise the bar even higher. It's genuinely one of greatest things ever written!
I can guarantee that the scene when this song plays is just as good as the music
Reading comments I realized that this song is equivalent YOUSEEBIGGIRL from AoT. Any random note and true fans immediately remembers THAT moment
I recommend Madoka Magica OST's - "Sis Puella Magica!", "Decretum" and "Absolute Configuration"
My guy has taste !
Man all the feelings just flowed back into me. The episode paired with this OST sent me into a state of perpetual petrification. I'm a seasoned anime watcher and I can adamantly say that I've never been left just staring at a screen so mindlessly before. The entire episode was masterfully done.
Might be the greatest ost scene combo in anime like ever
Looking back at this video now that you have watched the actual episode in your reaction. Now you know what scene is related to this song... Welcome to one of the most intense endings to an episode ever to air in anime.
Re zero is very good, I went into it with low expectations since I don't like "isekai" anime and was pleasantly surprised. The music and the way it tells the story is amazing! As for your question, yeah I don't think it would be a good Friday anime as of now since it's as long as slime anime and would take a year+ to finish it on a 1ep per week basis.
24 ep = around half a year
48 ep = a year+
12 ep = 3 months
"Low expectation" was the key word here😅
Thanks for reacting to this! I started watching re:zero after hearing this score and All I can say is that I was not disappointed
Yeah, this song plays in episode 15. It's probably the episode where people realize Re:Zero is a masterpiece. The show starts out great and just gets better.
It makes it so much better with the noise of snow in the background too
i love how just the music is emotional enough, if only you knew
You have my sincerest thanks for reacting to this, this is my favorite song, and it's from my favorite anime, so therefore, thank you very much.
Another fantastic OST from Re Zero is Takt of Heroes - Origin
You should consider reacting to that aswell 😉
Edit: Re Zero has around 50 Episodes with both seasons combined aswell as 2 OVAs , the one called Frozen Bonds being very important and should be watched before season 2
I've still not watched Frozen Bonds lol. I just keep forgetting it exists.
@@tearlach47 It's not "NEEDED" but it's worth watching, it bridges the Emilia back story into season 2's themes better.
I enjoyed my first watch, but rewatching that movie is kinda eh
All 3 takt of heroes should be listened to imo
First one is good, origin is incredible, and awakening is very different but also incredible in a different type of way
Hymne of Despair and Atonement is one I love purely from how much it takes from obscure orchestral music.
@@jamesperrott1 I think Awakening is the best
Hell yeah more Re:Zero content! Glad you're gonna start watching it soon. Definitely something you will not regret
Finally you listened to it! I recommend this one in comments section since I am subscribed months ago.
Seasib 3 was just announced with an official Teaser video. Now would be a great time to start the series imo.
Honestly, I started watching Re:Zero because of this score.
Only re:zero could create that
I can never settle on an answer when people ask my favourite anime. Re:zero is definitely one that's competing for the position though
This scene was incredible. A huge turning point.
50 episodes for now. They just this past Saturday announced the production of season 3.
Anime OST is not just an "anime" OST. It's a whole goddamn orchestra playing in the background. Well said, Luke
ahh yes rezero truly goated...
i wish you would know what scene is going on while this is playing, cant wait for your eventual anime reaction!!
I gurantee you will be mind blown by this show
If we're going into OSTs specifically, then Isabella's Lullaby is definitely up there.
As for an ensemble list of OSTs, then Kevin Penkin's Made in Abyss score is just amazingly beautiful!
Man, I really need to go back and rewatch Re:Zero, it's *so* good
"It feel like a 'final episode' kind of theme."
Luke, this is still technically the prologue. Even the main character says that his story doesn't truly start until three episodes after the one that uses this song. That's just the kind of show that Re:Zero is.
Fun Fact 1. The Authors of
Konosuba
And
Re:Zero
Know each other since College they flipped a coin to see which Author used which characters would appear.
Fun Fact 2. The Japanese Band Myth And Roid did the Ost's of
OVERLORD
THE SAGA OF TANYA THE EVIL
THE HERO IS OVERPOWERED BUT OVERLY CAUTIOUS
MADE IN THE ABYSS
If you want an epic battle OST from Re:zero, you have to check out Takt of heroes: Origin
I cant wait to see your reaction during this scene.
One of the remarkable scene in anime history imo
This OST when it hits you in Re:Zero and AOE s2e6 were episodes that leave you shocked for some moments until you manage to gather yourself.
Instant flashbacks I absolutely loved Re:Zero
I love perfectly executed scenes like this, where the actual emotion comes from ... missing something. The lack of the actual ending caused by the black screen leaves you with your thoughts while this beautiful soundtrack plays. The other instance I reacted so strongly was with Houseki no Kuni. There is one scene when the song abruptly stops just before reaching it's climax but the scene goes on... goosebumps. And then the different ending.
This is so beautiful, I could listen to it over and over. It evokes so many emotions. I have not seen the anime so I will have to look it up. thanks! Your channel is the best! ❤👀
This OST is the perfect summary for Re:zero
Re:zero and Made in Abyss are 2 underrated gems with amazing OSTs, both start with lighthearted themes only to turn DARK AF
Ah yes, the "What's that, you already have PTSD? Too bad, my brain has only just started to tremble" theme.
The scene this song plays for is by far the greatest scene in any anime, everything about it is perfect. No one could hear this and not feel something
I can't wait until the day arrives where you start reacting to Re:Zero episodes! I will laugh, cry and get mad with you! For me this anime is right under AoT! Just incredible!
it's cold here
This episode is one of the reason why Re:Zero is on another level, i remember in 2016-2017 this episode break so many hearts and make everyone stare in screen for 2-3 minutes
Out of context, this piece feels like the credits theme to a really brutal and emotional WWII movie set in the European Theater.
"Sleep."
😭
I just can't wait to see you witness this masterpiece. You have no idea how this OST hits so hard on that particular episode, just complete hopelessness...
Edit: I suggest reacting to the Re:Zero battle OST 'Takt of heroes'
You can’t even imagine the scene it plays in… One of the most beautiful and haunting anime ost. Also yes ost perfectly represents the scene it’s playing in and Re:Zero in general Kenichiro Surehiro did an amazing job!
There’s 2 insert songs myth & Roid did called straight bet & theater d that also perfectly fit the scenes they’re in hope you’ll get to them as well with the subtitles on 🙏🏽
Yeah my eyes do that too lmao the teary eye part and the moving pic part
The thing with Re:Zero is it’s very Information dense and a lot of plot points from older episodes might be relevant even a whole season later so it might be better to give it the 3 times a week slot after fmab as much as I want you to watch it as soon as possible
On the 25th we might get a season 3 announcement after 3 years of wait so maybe it’ll perfectly line up when you watch it like with aot 👀
Also highly recommend the directors cut its 2 episodes stitched together and has some minor animations upgrades
Subaru is standing decapitated in front of wolf puck, snow storm, rem dead in his arms...
@@thebatman07 wtf delete…
I'm literally crying rn! I get the scenes in my head and my heart breaks into frozen pieces..
Funny to hear you say you can't believe such an amazing score from an anime.
I used to play piano for quite a while and like 80% of songs I played were from anime or games - they kept surprising my school and piano teachers too that such good music is in a game / anime.
Sometimes they would even ask me for the score because the piece was so awesome.
White Fox came onto my radar of noticed studios after I watched Re:Zero and solidified itself as one of my favorites after i saw Steins Gate.
God damn they did such a good job on this
Another great Re:Zero ost is "Tact of heroes origins" it's easily one of my favorite battle osts of the series, you can just feel the epicness
Requiem of silence and Rondo of love and darkness are two of my favorite pieces of music in the series. The sheer emotion and energy they have along with the clear impact and inspiration they have is golden.
This songs gets me everytime, and the peaceful image in the background lol
The effort in the music production for an animated series xD
They put everything into it.
This is one of the darkest anime i ever seen its so well written u will enjoy it one thing i will never forget when the mc said no matter how many times i have to die in order to save you
Can't wait to see your reactions to Re:Zero episodes, I'll be here for all of them. Still my favorite anime.. favorite story even, since the books are the best I've read!
So glad you've decided to watch Re:zero, even if it's not immediately, knowing it's on it's way is exciting.
This is one of the best episodes of a show I have ever seen. The madness and finally breaking, just to be hit with that final scene and just watching the credits roll, not able to move
OMG my fav ost from anime, and from imo best episode in anime (of what i watched so far at least). I don't wanna say which ep it is on but when you hear that you will definitely know it. Tears literally fall down like a river on this episode.
The episode this ost is from in my opinion is one of the greatest anime episodes period
Watching Re: Zero after Steins;Gate and Konosuba is gonna be wild.
There's a classic guitar version of this and it hits hard too. This song in any form messes me up. The other commenter who said "we all just stared as credits were rolling" wasn't lying. Very impactful song for an absurdly impactful scene
Ohh man. What a scene...
"Sleep... along with my daughter"
(Its such a suggestive quote without the show's context lol)
i saw every single episode when it dropped and when this episode dropped... i was just speechless staring at the credits while this ost was playing in the background. twitter was going crazy that day
