Yeah, this one does evoke the feeling of hopelessness in a hopeless moment. I think it happens when an already hopeless moment becomes even more hopeless
Imagine having no hope, and every step forward is greeted to even more hopeless events that lead to despair. A truly bad ending to a story. Re:Zero delivers this emotion, over and over again. One of the best shows with some of the best character development to exist. This song plays by the way as the credits roll over the scene. Fading to black. These scene was likely what pushed the anime to the levels of popularity it received. If there ever was a scene that defined a season of anime this was the one.
Re:Zero - along with very few other anime like Claymore and Gosick - manages to show true despair. Not just "aww, look at this cutesy character suddenly have something horrible happen to them. Sad now?", it's the actual feeling of being slowly crushed by something inevitable, struggling against because there is nothing else you can do.
you have almost perfectly got the point, I suggest you look for other OST of Re:zero, they are incredible, here some names: Chains Of Memories, Takt Of Heroes, Breath Of A Vow
"The Eternal Freezing of Elior Forest", "Determination for the Trial" from Season 2, those tug on your heart strings, especially when you've watched the season.
one of the best ost for one of the best ep I've ever seen, great analysis man I literally cried this episode and It's rare for me to do so in a show in general + when I finished it I couldn't process it and I honestly didn't feel really good lol I rewatched it so many times I lost count Perfect dialogues, scene, direction, ost, and the voice acting stunning as well(but in general in re:zero is fenomenal) with the scene it is extremely emotional, and yes it is played in it's entirety a long 7 minute scene that you pulls you in(like you said) and never let you go until it ends, which makes sense and at the same time makes the scene more impactful and grand
Damn this episode was crazy!!! Many mix emotions. Anger, sadness, and defeat. Literally the song of being at rock bottom and in pain with nothing else to give. Who ever makes the Ost of this show need to be recognized or awarded.
this was the one episode that got me bawling lmao best episode in all of anime history, hands down. there are better shows, sure, but this episode is one of the highest quality episodes in terms of emotional impact and storytelling
Back story to "Requiem of Silence" / "Elegy for Rem"... When the producers of Re:Zero heard the piece, they decided that it'd go in its entirety into S01E15 (The Outside of Madness), and the visuals should match the song. Usually, it's the other way around, and only part of the track is actually used. And White Fox pulled it off masterfully, I still can't hear this song without my eyes getting wet. And the image is from the episode in the video you watched, in another, it's the illustration for that specific scene from the light novel. And yeah, this song is playing when Subaru carries the dead Rem home. Don't want to spoil things, but S01E15 is a barrage of psychological gut punches, not that much gore, really. And I've heard more than one person tell how they curled up in fetal position in their bed for a couple of hours after watching the episode.
one of the best if not the best episode of anime that i have watched, and the music tops it all of in episode 15 of re:zero, "Echidnut" just did a whole video explaining why this is condisdered one of the best episodes out there

the anime is about a normal guy gets transferred in another world but he has no power no strength nothing he is a normal person but the thing is when he dies the world restarts and he rememberes everything the pain the regret it's pretty disturbing how mentally ill he gets he rememberes everything but if he tries to tell someone he will die he died so many times in so many gruesome way's just to save his friends and he keeps everything in himself he cant tell to no one I can tell a lot more but I don't want to spoil this anime is so well made such a tragic main character
Definitely try to find season 1 episode 15 of Re:Zero. It’s used in the last part of the episode. Should record your reaction, one of the best anime scenes in recent years.
It was not a surprise, tbh. This song really is on another level compared to the other ones from the pool. Besides, the episode which it was used was very memorable.
this hits harder when you hear it in the background of the anime
This episode was... wow. Despair, action, love, craziness, epicness, sadness, everything-ness.
@@blackcid I think it wouldn't be a stretch to call it the best standalone anime episode of all time.
@@maximiliansinigr3505 it is tho , the emotions this one single episode had was like .. idk how to explain it
This hits harder than a cross-shaped stone slab on an Italian salad.
His head falls off as the snow slowly covers his body and the screen with the red credits playing I remember it vividly.
i cried like a baby when this song came by on the show
I was so shoked I was not able to cry, just staring at the screen
i watched this show 5 times already, and i cried every time when this dong came on
@@yeddi_qx same, i was SO heartbroken when the credits rolled, i legitimately believed that that was the end of the anime lmao
"the same thing keeps happening again and again"
The unknowing accuracy of this statement lol
One of the best OSTs for one of the best episodes of an anime. it's so fucking good man
It's probably the best episode ever in Anime
Edit: here's why

Been watching anime for around 15-16 years and the episode where this plays in the show is one of the hardest hitting I’ve seen
Re:Zero's OST is ASTRONOMICALLY underrated
Episode 15 is absolute peak anime
Re:Zero - along with very few other anime like Claymore and Gosick - manages to show true despair. Not just "aww, look at this cutesy character suddenly have something horrible happen to them. Did you say Gosick? Please tell me my eyes didn't lie....someone else besides me who watched Gosick? Yes....HELL FUCKING YES !!!
It hits even harder during the show
you have almost perfectly got the point, I suggest you look for other OST of Re:zero, they are incredible, here some names: Chains Of Memories, Takt Of Heroes, Breath Of A Vow
So you just not gonna mention "The Past's Destination"
I also really enjoyed Rondo of Love and Darkness, and Witch of Vainglory
Bro 'Call of the Witch' goes hard
"The Eternal Freezing of Elior Forest", "Determination for the Trial" from Season 2, those tug on your heart strings, especially when you've watched the season.
Abyss
The way he deciphered soo much just from the image and Ost .. it just means the Song is THAT good at conveying it .. amazing .
Another good song that plays around this time in the anime is Theater D by myth and roid
Ah yes, Theater D. The single most overlooked Myth and Roid song.

Hey if you like this music other good Re: Zero music is call of the witch and hymn of despair. Just other Re: Zero music recommendations.

I would not recommend someone to watch that episode without watching all previous episodes (for spoiler reasons, context reasons and impact reasons)
the song of defeat, the song of the die
This one hits hard when it happens in the anime
DESPAIR.😔
It's imo the best in the OST and they only used it ONCE in the show. The studio knows how to work with their music.
My top re:zero OST:
Reverse
Fantasy Lied
Call of the Witch
Satella
Chain of Memories
Wish of the Stars
Reason to Believe
