Mr Muzi, where can one get that actual "book value" book used by dealerships when trying to buy your car? I think it can also be handy for the average consumer, no?
Different tyre brands on a car ain't no red flag my friend as long as the tyre threads are still healthy in all 4 tyres. If you have a non-4 wheel drive car it's common to change only two tyres at a time and you might find that a certain brand is out of stock at your nearest tyre shop and you are forced to buy the next good brand available that does not match your current fitted brand.
The amount research you put your videos is amazing. The preparation out of this world… if I talk about delivery I’ll end up crying. Thanks man and keep it up
@faraichizinga4378 Hi Farai, this was in early 2020 so I don't remember the other smaller fees but the most was about R2500 for transportation(total fees were way less than R5k though). Oh, I didn't mention this in my initial comment...We live in CPT , saw the car online and it was in PE so had someone in PE go test drive...I'd advise you to do the same.
Can't overstate how beneficial your points were, you have literally saved me from making a shameful future purchase out of a preconceived notion regarding low-mileage vehicles.
When buying cars from auctioneers it’s important to also research what category the vehicle falls under, learnt that recently with this category A, B or C which speak to the existing condition of the car if it has any problems too.
I’m actually considering buying a car in 2023, thanks for answering my questions and putting me on the advantageous position as I’m busy checking the market for my soon to be wheels…
You are 100% correct about dealers that buy cars from WBC auctions. I sold my polo to WBC, the tracker was still active. I saw it heading to DBN where they have a major auction hub. I even followed the actual auction online . Next thing it heads back to PMB and stayed in a certain location for a while. When I google the location it was one of the smalla nyana car dealerships here in PMB. Crazy.
Wow, I never considered looking at the tyres. I was lucky with my 1st car. I bought it 2nd hand in 2013 and it has served me well. It's time for an upgrade & I think I'll wait for the full used cars series before making a decision.
Independent dealers (non franchise) usually sell over priced cars because they want to make profits. Hence the price of if the Swift GA, great pointer there Muzi.
Point Nr 5, I bought my car online from MP while I am in GP (Ermelo - Hyundai & Mitsubishi Motors Ermelo, Riaan). Did not test drive, low mileage, great condition, they even allowed me to speak with the 1 previous owner, car was almost brand new (2019 model on 28k). I guess I was 1 of the lucky ones. Oh and, I bought month end the price had dropped so much. Best decision ever made. But I understand Muzi, becareful some wont be as lucky as me. Love your content so much and always show my friends. Please cover things women need to look-out or prepare for when buying pre-owned cars?
I also bought my car online but the salesperson even suggested to bring the car to me for a test drive first before i can decide lol … that car has never gave me any problem to this day
Thanks Muzi. What you know, of course, is that South Africa has legislation that PENALISES any car that isn't made in SA. So you are supporting the 'local car industry' (VW - your favourite, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, etc.). That even extends to us over the border - in Namibia, where we also pay a 'levy' for cars not made in South Africa (it's crazy - but that's what it is). HOWEVER, we did one clever thing and did away with legislation banning imports. The result is we have a wide range of vehicles, many imported from Japan, with relatively low mileage and in good condition, My friend drives a beautiful Alfa Giulietta - it cost him R110 000! And our local taxis here are generally Toyota Corollas and Suzuki Swifts (we even call them 'Dankie Botswanas' because they came from Japan, through Botswana to Namibia). So, if SA is to help motorists, I reckon the first stage is to open up the market and stop protecting lemons and rather let the consumer decide what they want to buy and/or import.
Great content as always. Watched the podcast with King David as well Great staff man keep it up 🤲🙏 I'm looking forward to the second-hand cars videos as I'm in the market of purchasing one. Love Your Videos. You Doing Amazing Staff 💯🤞
Heee I visited we buy car a couple of times the past couple of weeks and had to revisit this video to say even car dealerships like vw which I wnt mention bought a polo vivo at we buy cars to sell it at a higher price in their second hand shop
Thanks bro! The quality content is appreciated. I’m in the market for 2nd-hand vehicle which I have identified (and I also have the VIN) and I want to find out where to get the full history of the vehicle (owners, services, repairs due to accidents if any, balance of warranty and balance of service plan). I want to do my own research about the vehicle without going through the dealer just to avoid being scammed. It’s one of those independent dealerships and I don’t want to find myself in a situation where I bought a problematic piece of metal. Thanks in advance. 👊🏾
Similar situation. From my resarch I saw that you can get the vehicle history report directly from AA, but you'll pay for each report you pull (+-R100, I stand to be corrected here). I'm also not too sure on how comprehensive it is and what it covers though, but it's a good place to start.
Hi. You can the service records from the dealers that sell such a brand even if you are buying from there. THE GERMAN trio will always assist. And also Ford and Volvo. Talking from experience. Just give them a call or pay them a visit.
@@phanuelbaloyi8458 I reached out to @VWSA and they told me that they need a drafted consent from the dealer to share the information about the vehicle and this is due to POPI Act 🙁.
If you plan to go to we buy Cars do your research on common issues that affect the platform, if you aren't knowledgeable on cars take a mechanic with you and get them to scan the car for faults and make your decision from there
the new car market is crazy, I am not sure what the manufacturers benefit from this high prices. Since South Africa is failing to build it's own cars even though we have the raw materials, GWM please bring the Tank and other cheaper cars for us.
Nice one Mate always top tier videos.. I’ve been to we buy cars since I stay in western cape such a huge car base !🤯 there are lemons there though but they do state vehicle issues via their Dekra(road worthy reports). Hi Muzi, what do you feel about the 2017/2018 Mercedes Benz A200 as a first time buyer (ability to purchase it fully with cash) ? I feel as though maintenance costs might be heavy in the long run
Eh things that VW do to us is really painful... A Polo Vivo trendline for R230k...instalment amounts to R4300 pm with 35%balloon payment for 72 month 😭😭😭😭 I don't know what you guys think but this deal sound horrible to me... Polo Vivo owners let me hear your side of the story on this one.

Love how calm and clear you are in your thoughts and delivery. Very informative, thank you Muzi. You've earned a new Subscriber🎉
Very good advice to first time buyers and buyers in general. Many people out there are unaware of how the dealers are the biggest crooks
I support the High mileage German Car experiment, would love to see what happens - please go ahead.
I’ve never bought a new car so far: The depreciation is just crazy. I usually go for a medium mileage German used car.
I am addicted to this channel, I believe in this channel more that l believe in my self …

The crazy thing with our system here in SA is that even the locally produced cars are ridiculously expensive.😭
@@MuziSambo you are definitely right about RSA heading into import market soon.
On advert the car can be R191k since VAT is not included such things mst be taken into consideration
Point 7 - Run if the car's engine has been tuned or the electrical system has been tempered with for aftermarket mods etc
Absolutely unless it’s a reputable turner company with receipts to prove there tune doesn’t effect the cars long term reliability

Go for the 2018 with a 6year/100000km maintenance plan. That will give you a solid 2 years before you can start working about maintenance costs.
For a first time buyer, please avoid German cars unless it has a maintenance plan coz they can give you a serious headache in this bad economy
Thank you Muzi for your experience
