"May God bless and keep the Czar...FAR AWAY FROM US!"
Hilarious line!
John Shaw *tzar
abandoned it can be said both ways
Actually there is a blessing (a berakhah) to be recited upon seeing a king. I've seen in old prayerbooks printed in the former Russian Empire a prayer for the well being of the Czar, the Imperial Family, and the government. It would have been recited at times without irony or comedy.
It is a hilarious line.
Pretty fly for a Rabi.
as the rabbi for our school production i got alot of laughs from that line!
"By the way she sees, and the way he looks, THEY'RE A PERFECT MATCH!!"
lol
hahaha... "it's a PEARFEKT METCH!" How good IS this?
My daughter was the matchmaker in her high school play!
"Then again.. *is* your son so much to *look* at?"
"You may ask....how did this Tradition get started! I'll tell you.......I don't know!" xD
But it's a tradition and because of our traditions everyone knows who they are and what God expects them to do
+Lauren Faerber funny how we follow "traditions" that we don't even know where they came from.
+soilofk You ruined the continuation.
+v torry THE PAPAAAAA
+OneSecondNinja the papa, tradition
I saw this on Broadway a few years ago and it was one of the most memorable performances I have ever seen... Most everyone around me was was crying at the end... me too... Amazing performance
Which production did you see? There have been many great ones over the years (and some I wouldn't see if you threatened me or paid me to sit through it). Most recently, there was a Yiddish-language production off-Broadway (with super-titles in English & Russian) but after many years in several different theaters it's closing by the end of 2022...
You saw --this-- on Broadway? I was always under the impression that Broadway was top tier.
I saw the performance in the video above. It was amazing to me how they transformed a stage into the village of Anatevka.
"Here's 1 kopak."
"Why one? You gave me two last year!"
"Because I had a bad day!"
"If you had a bad day, why should I?"
This song is so different from the other numbers in this show, but it ALWAYS gives me chill, especially when they go into that harmony on the second 'tradition' of each verse!!
That's because it was written last with the help of a new creative! The show was not working with audiences at all and the new person said "What's the show about?! Tell the audience! Right at the start!"
Anyone else notice that the part "THE DAUGHTEEEEEERS" are sung by the mothers, and that the daughters are quiet? I think this is to emphasize that the daughters don't get any say (= which is an important part of the story later on, so it would make sense)
Ummmm, look again.🤔
Your avatar shows you wear glasses. May I suggest getting a new pair?
What are you talking about
Despite the keyboard critics. Excellent rendition of "Tradition".
I wish they kept the
'it was six!"
"It was twelve!"
"It was six!"
"IT WAS TWELVE"
"IT WAS TWELVEEEEEEEE"
I know the musical came before the movie but, come on man. that was priceless.
I watched the movie long way before I discovered it was a Broadway-based play and obviously I agree with you. Nevertheless a couple weeks ago I got into a flea market and I found "Fiddler on the Roof: The Original Broadway Cast Recording". In the beginning, I was skeptical about its quality and I admit that I bought it only cause its price (a bargain) and the fact that it was a vinyl record but I was surprised to notice that the play's version is really good. Now I prefer almost every song over its simile from the movie except the fiddle solo at the end of the prologue/tradition theme and of course, the great Chaim Topol's version of "If I a were a rich man". In this video, you can notice something really great that was changed in the film 3:33. In the record, sounds one thousand times better; John Williams made a great job I know, but it wasn't as good as the original.
"TEVYE KNOWS IT WAS TWELVE!!! "
Lauren Faerber right? Of course right!
Gino Barahona yes that part where the different parts mix is so good! I remember when I was working on a production of this play a couple years ago as a musician in the orchestra that that part was so difficult to play!
The six / twelve argument was a change for the film. The original broadway text was Horse / Mule
i did this show last year at my school, it was so fun!!! i was yente and fruma-sarah, they were both extremely fun roles.
Very good choreography.
SN - Old channel la de Beba es mejor
I was the fiddler on the roof during this show when we did it at my high school.
One of the great Musicals. Many hit songs and lots of humour and pathos. I saw it many years ago. Loved it then and love it now.
My favorite musical!! I will be directing it March 2024, can't wait. To life!!
I wish to go on the record by saying I LOVE this.
I'm doing this show at my school! I'm Tzeitel! So excited 😊
Congrats!!!!
Nah, I'd worry about Fruma Sarah if I were Tzeitel.
I was the only Jew in my school and I didn’t get casted, it led to butchered pronunciation, I hope our school got them right
Gwen N. FRUMA SARAH IS COMING
same, but im mendel
I remember seeing Topol in this in London in 1967.Suddenly the 6 day war broke out in Israel and Topol , also suddenly, disappeared!
I would love to see this live. I'm watching the movie in 2021.
Just saw this today at The Capitol Theatre and it was absolutley fantastic!!! Love Love Love Love it.. Anthony Warlow and Company are amazing.
A masterpiece I agree
I watched years 15 or more, it was Malina, if I am not mistaken! It was stunning, more like Topol. Anyway this show is a beautiful! ❤️❤️❤️
I’m overdue to watch this live again!
this crowd is dead or they don't have an audience
***** that makes sense
Andrew Grell that's not a rock show. you should keep silence while singing
Andrew Grell i agree completely. Fiddler is meant to be funny at times. Like the scene between yente and the father.
Most probably they zoned out the audience reactions
It's a press performance, everyone there would be filming also
Have not watched this in years.......STILL LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw this! 10/10 AMAZING SHOW! Mr Warlow is perfect!
Topol was better.... He toured Australia in the 2006/7 professional production.
Warlow is wonderful ! The entire cast and production from what I see here, is quite impressive !
Randy Rainbow brought me here.
TWICE!
top notch choreography
I’m so exited to play this musical in my high school pit orchestra this year!
My Highschool did fiddler on the roof this year for the musical and in this song the would go "tradition, tradition **stomp clap, stomp clap** tradition" instead of just having a pause.
thats because timing is hard for children
Outstanding version historical ever in real living sensation ! Merci beaucoup from Paris France ever.
I love this opening so much! and I actually get to play in the pit for this musical soon!
Loved, absolutely loved this video!!! Encore, Encore!!!
you can tell he held the script in his left hand when he was learning his lines
I miss watching such movies with my parents. My husband dislike such movies and musicals :(
So I just watch them by myself
Demon Hyperion :( mine does too. Not cool! They’re so good.
Im not a fan of musicals, but i happened across some clips of this one and im definitely buying the dvd if avilable. Also, cats owns.
Pity. The non-diegetic singing and dancing used to bother me about musicals, so I didn't like watching them, but Fiddler On The Roof got my brain re-wired somehow.
Dang.
Tell him he's got to like it it's tradition
For 7 minutes, I actually forgot that Topol is still alive. This performance nails it!
Tradition! How to live! MERCI BEAUCOUP from Paris France
Awwww. I love the movie. I have seen it a bunch of times. Excellent
I could watch you all night long
Nice to see "Tradition" like it is in the original musical. The movie left out quite a bit, though the violin solo is amazing on the opening credits.
LOVE the musical this song came from!
I love this!!! AHHH! I played the bottle dancer and son and loved every second. xxxx
Brilliant version of ‘Tradition’ I am doing this as a school production In April, I’m very excited to do it!
I actually saw this in my area! It’s an amazing production!!
Working at a theater. Just had this show two days ago. I live on the other side of the world in Eastern Europe, yet this musical is so similar everywhere.
What!!!!!!!! They hold their hands , they are breaking the tradition.......
.
I was in my local high schools presentation of fiddler on the roof and like I am crying right now I miss all the people in it so much I wish we could do it again
Anthony Warlow is awesome.
Chaim Topol toured in the previous major Australian tour....
Warlow doesn't even come close....
Absolutely amazing play one of my favourites plays I have ever seen on Broadway
Everytime I love it more, saw on the theatre, saw on the movies and it's always refreshing, full of wisdom.
Another version of "Fiddler on the Roof" . Very well performed . Thanks . Todo . Spasibo .
It always seems strange to me that, in a show where the dancing of men with women is so important dramatically in the Act 1 Finale, it happens in the opening number while they are singing 'Tradition'
I saw Fiddler in the 60s when I was a teenager. This was excellent.
Ever incredible version live ever, merci beaucoup from Paris France.
I saw this on broadway last October. We missed the first half hour or so. We made it just in time for tevye's dream...now I know I missed so much
Man that sucks
Thadyn Du Pont I also saw it last September on Broadway and we we're late. We came in after Tradition.
We are putting on this show and one girl has to be the entire Russian army. This is going to be interesting...
Oh, and Perchik has to beat himself up.
Yeah, here we go... :D
Pink Cowl, lol
I want to know how this went
To be fair, the historical state of the imperial army in the late empire was not terribly far off. By 1914 they didn’t have shoes or bullets for soldiers. No wonder they lost the civil war!
Anthony Warlow, multi talented
I played chava when I was in this . one of my favorite roles ever
Wonderful
Beautiful all!!!💖💖
studying my choreo at 11 at night >>>>>>
I just auditioned today for this musical and I got Grandmother Tzeitel!
This! Loved it!
Omg incredible!!
This is amazing!
Beautifully done!
Brilliant!!!
Anthony Warlow is quality!! thanks for putting this up, so helpful as i prepare to play tevye in april!!
Jewish "soul music" with dancing! So awesome! Love, love, love this!
Great Work!!!
It's interesting that so many people commenting here compare Anthony Warlow's performance to that of Topol, who played Tevye in the film version of Fiddler On the Roof. As for me, and I think for many Americans of a certain age, the prototypical performance of Tevye is that of Zero Mostel, who originated the role on Broadway. Of course, most of us weren't able to get to Broadway to see Mostel in the role, but the LP soundtrack to the Broadway production sold very well, and we all got used to hearing Zero Mostel as Tevye, at least during the songs. Also, Mr. Mostel was a popular guest on many TV variety shows and talk shows during that time. I thought Topol perforrmed the role admirably, but I don't think the film was a box office hit in the US.
beautiful and beautiful
Very much appreciate this production's respectful use of Hebrew (the "Rabbi" used :Hashem" & "Elokeinu" instead of the real words used in a blessing)
I played Yente when we did this at my school !
Tylerrose Williamson girl, that’s what I’m doing this year! If you have any advice, I’m open to hearing it lol.
That's what I'm doing this year!!!
@@kp4692 have fun! It was truly a magical show to be apart of
@@tylerrosewilliamson7609 it seems like it already!!! We just started rehearsals and I already feel amazing!!!
@@tylerrosewilliamson7609 and thank you!!!
"But it's a tradition!"
Tradition is just peer pressure from the dead! XD
Keep the light alive!
I saw this when it came to the college town where I live. It was marvelous. If you get a chance, be sure to see it.
THIS IS SO GOOD
Klasse! Klasse Anthony Warlow!!!
Awesome. It's interesting to see this on stage as compared to the film.
Fantastic!
Inspiring LOve it!!!°
Great performance!
I like the set.
From Los Angeles, CA: THIS looks GORGEOUS!! NICELY done!!
Wonderful stage performance.Looks very much alike Topol.Great.
Genial.
I love this movie!!!!
We're doing this at my school
Shout out to all my techies out there
The best music...thanks
I'm in the show, and I play Mendel! :)
Was it fun? I know it was work but I always like to think that it would be as fun as it was hard
Sammy Pachos Yes it's fun! One more weekend! :)
I'm in Fiddler on the roof this semester and I am play Mendel and Sasha
mabxel Proud of you!
Gio Vidrio thank you!! I'm super excited! This is the first time I'm performing in a musical
This is excellent. Tevye is wonderful and makes me want to see the play.
The Senior Entrance of Michigan Class ‘22 brought me here 😅
this is so cool
Saw June 15 the film with Potok. Marvellous! As a bube used to say: "So enjoyable! I cried so much!". L'chaim, jevre!
hahah awesome to see Lior dancing around... normally he's by himself singing .. Great job mate. :)
Okay this is SO good! I loved the fullness from the cast. However, I wish that the pit orchestra could have been fuller. I hear a lot of brass and woodwinds but not enough strings. Seems overpowered, but other than that it’s AMAZING
Being in pit is hard to play out because we're under the stage and in my school they don't have mic's down their but maybe in this musical they do. But I think that depends on the people playing stings to play out more
Just great choreography!
i’m doing this for the school musical this year! this looks greats and i’m beyond excited :D
great performance
I'm doing this show at school and the director is going to post the cast list this week! I really want Tzeitel or Hodel!!
So (I know this is now four years back) what part did you end up getting?
I'd love to see this production live
