time flies so fast, 17 years ago this video was uploaded, the wicked musical debuted in 2002 and struggled to stand on its own, after years it reached its peak of success and this song launched a thousand dreams. now this show is having its own movie after 2 decades. it tears me that this show gives me nostalgia, the inner child within me is proud of them 💚💖
SOMEONE PLEASE put the stage musical out on dvd or blueray. With Idena and Kristin - no other actors will do!! I've seen this play so many times and I play the cd in my car often. IT'S BRILLIANT!!
No matter how many times I hear this song or see this video, I can't help but want to cry when she rises up like she's flying. It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in a musical.
Can we talk about the harmony at 2:29 ? 😍 Perfect✨ Also, for everyone who says that this perfomance is bad because of her breaking or whatever, this song is perfect. Because you're gonna remember it, and it's all that matter 😍 saw it years ago by being lost on youtube and it's this special perfomance which makes me love Wicked and musicals ! And Idina of course 😁 So just enjoy how amazing Idina and Kristin are together 💚
Honestly i find the trembles in idina's voice and quickness so fitting in the situation. Especially towards the end genuinely thought it was intended at first watch
I saw them perform this in December of 2003. It took my breath away. My daughter was a sobbing heap in her seat. It was one of the BEST shows I have ever seen.
The way her voice shaked in "it's meeeeeee!" and right after got a lot more confident in "SO IF YOU CARE TO FIND MEEE!" you can't tell me that wasn't intentional. When Elphaba is trying to get the guards' attention, she doesn't know if she's gonna fly or not. I mean, she did put the spell on it, but she wasn't _sure_ that it would work as intended (it's litterally the 2nd time she uses the Grimmerie). That shaking reflected her fear, but when she rose up she was like "it worked! I'm safe now!", that gave her confidence. I strongly believe that was just Idina's acting
I love watching this awesome video of Idina Menzel as Elphaba and Kristin Chadweck as Galinda in Wicked the broadway show! They should make a movie of Wicked with Idina and Kristin as those two main characters because they are amazing! ❤❤❤❤❤🙂

And my dream is to be part of the cast... hoping to play Boq on Broadway and/or on Tour!!
Where can I watch it?
Idina portraing two of the strongest women in the last 20 years of entertainment in a single life tells a lot about her. She's such a power!
Unpopular opinion: I think Idina did amazing. We're too quick to judge her but she was acting the song here, something not a lot of bway actors are good at
I don't see why it is an unpopular opinion if all of us agree with it.
Ciara Stewart Thats just untrue, many Elphaba's have and still do it better than her technique wise, like Alice Fearn for example. Idina strains far too much, which is why her vocal range has declined throughout the years.
@@ASadPigeon like Jessica Vosk too
No one...except Vosk :)
Try Willemijn Verkaik
This musical means the world to me.
Same
HELLO. So for everyone hating on Idina, she had a fever, cold and she had an asthma attack minutes before she went on! She hit those high notes better then any of you guys could and she doesn’t usually go that far with the expressions ( I think she was trying to take attention off her voice) give her a break smh 🤦🏼♀️
Facts.
The Movie Critic THANK YOU 😂 I was a bit over the top with the comment tho lol
@@verityjude2269 No you hit all the right targets 😁 Couldn't have said it better myself
I think the gasping actually makes the drama even better for the scene! If you think about the situation of the story she should be breathless
Kathleen Soreth-Harman exactly thank you!
Two words for this performance...."F**king EPIC." -- Idina Menzel KILLED it. Absolutely flawless.

huh is it just me or are they rushing?
Yes bc there's a time limit
@@crystalmike17 yeah there is a time limit but they took it from like 1 to 10 when they needed to take it to like a 5 or a 7.
Orchestra went: _speed run_
I think that's more the Orchestra's fault
Not rushing more like they are on crack .
Producers: how fast could you go
Orchestra : *yes*
and here we are!!!! Mere months away from seeing Wicked in Theaters! Thank you to the original cast for this performance
“No wizard that there is or was is ever gunna bring me down” *gets thrown a bucket of water over her*
You must not have seen the full show. The bucket of water was her faking her death.
Chris van de Vrande haha I know that- it’s called a joke
omg i just LOVE adele dazeem!!11!!!1!!
That joke is just getting annoying (the Adele Dazeem joke). Please call her by her real name
Still lol"d
Actually Adele Dazeem isn't getting annoying maybe to you but the "Adele Dazeem" moment was has been the of her life I quote her
+Zoe Lopez why do they call her that ??
John Travolta flubbed her name when announcing her as an award recipient for her role as Elsa.
this perfeormance really made me wish i were older so i couldve support her those times and be there through her journey... i was 2 yrs old in this preformance
I give Idina so much respect. I suffer from asthma and I sing from time to time so I know what it’s like to have a problem with having breathing problems but she’s a trooper. I love that woman so much. She’s such a great person, so sweet. You go girl!
This is my ringtone
I always perk up when I hear it
How fast do you want the song to go?
Orchestra: Yes
No Tony performance will ever ever ever ever outdo this. I've listened to this song and seen a performance of it hundreds of times, and this STILL gave me goosebumps. Performed to perfection!!
time flies so fast, 17 years ago this video was uploaded, the wicked musical debuted in 2002 and struggled to stand on its own, after years it reached its peak of success and this song launched a thousand dreams. now this show is having its own movie after 2 decades. it tears me that this show gives me nostalgia, the inner child within me is proud of them 💚💖
SOMEONE PLEASE put the stage musical out on dvd or blueray.
Funny thing, Idina Menzel was quite sick during this performance and STILL knocked it out of the park.
3:12 kristin is so adorable💗 watching one of her best friends literally kill it!! Ahhhhh I love them #chenzel 💗💚💗💚💗💚💗
I don't care who the best Elphaba is, all I know is that Idina lead them all to this beautiful show!
Idina’s face.. the depth.. the seriousness, the energy
Omg her voice made me cry
Idina is one of the few artists that you can call a force of nature.
I get teary eyed everytime I watch this, especially with Menzel. And my throat hurts just watching any singer belting this number. 😳🙌
Can we talk about the harmony at 2:29 ? 😍 Perfect✨
Also, for everyone who says that this perfomance is bad because of her breaking or whatever, this song is perfect.
Kristin had a front row seat to watching this every show. And for that I am forever jealous.
Wow! I didnt know Wicked has been out this long and Idina! It took Frozen for me to know who she was.
2:29 love how the harmony sounds!!
I saw them perform this in December of 2003. It took my breath away. My daughter was a sobbing heap in her seat. It was one of the BEST shows I have ever seen.
Kristen looking at Idina with just pure admiration and joy is so beautiful
What a gift these women are to humanity.
I saw them both in the original cast production on Broadway. My heart still races watching it!
Still giving me goosebumps...
17 years and still gets me every time
holy broomsticks she killed it ❤
3:14 I cry every. fuckin'. time.
Kristin looks so proud!!
The way her voice shaked in "it's meeeeeee!" and right after got a lot more confident in "SO IF YOU CARE TO FIND MEEE!"
you can't tell me that wasn't intentional.
Those notes, with all of that smoke… crazy! ❤
the way that she flies in the air
God their voices blend so well. Stunning, both of them!!
how is the audience still sitting after this performance?
@@falsettogod5853 She did awesome considering the orchestra was playing so damn fast!!
I love watching this awesome video of Idina Menzel as Elphaba and Kristin Chadweck as Galinda in Wicked the broadway show! They should make a movie of Wicked with Idina and Kristin as those two main characters because they are amazing! ❤❤❤❤❤🙂
Kristen & Idina were the first Glinda & Elphaba I ever fell in love with. Other duos are great but those two will always have a special place in my heart with their performances 💙
Idina Mendel: Something has changed!
Me: Yeah, the damned orchestra is playing faster than Usaine Bolt running on a track!
I get so emotional still Idina defying gravity oh my gooodness!
❤Love the Tony Awards. Love Wicked soundtrack. Greetings from coastal Mississippi and Twelve Oaks plantation
Poor Idina. The orchestra was playing too fast for her to catch her breath.
3:47 directors: um Kristen that was your cue. 🤣
After so many years, I *still* get goosebumps listening to this song 💖
Can I fall in love with a voice? Why, yes, I think I have.
my heart breaks every time
