I'd stress fitment over what's best. AGV, Arai, Icon, and Shark helmets don't fit my head shape but Bell, HJC, and Shoei do. Or I'm just part of the unlucky 20% that can't wear every helmet brand.
@@THX5000 that's what some people do from where im from, fit isnt exact but since it is an Arai they like to show it off. then again, these are the same people who just ride to the coffee shop and back.
The nice thing about the market right now is that there are very similar options at each price point for different head shapes. I’d love to see a “how each helmet fits at $XXX”. The Shoei RF1400 and AGV K6 are both excellent at similar price points. But fit differences are crucial. The K6 doesn’t fit me, the RF1400 is like a second skull.
It's all about fitment. The best helmet is one that fits. It can look cool as hell, weigh 200 grams, have all the safety ratings in the world and it would still be a possibly deadly helmet if it doesn't fit right
Looking back at my first helmet purchase which was a fly racing full face. I wish I would have just saved my money and put it towards a shoei. After riding with my first helmet for about 6 months, I started to understand that wind noise and weight will wear you out. I got a shoei rf-sr and it was a huge step in the right direction. Unfortunately, I got hit head-on at a stop sign by a woman who was texting and driving and that helmet saved my life so I replaced it with another shoei. Always buy the helmet that fits you the best. And has good reviews.

I bought the AGV Pista GP RR Futuro Forgiato and the Icon Airflite Space Force from Revzilla in April of this year. The Icon is subpar. I wore it a few times and will probably never wear it again. I'll give it to a buddy soon I guess. The AGV is incredible. It's actuality unbelievable how nice that helmet is. I'm not that impressed with the weight, probably because I wear an XL, but it's extremely comfortable to wear for long periods, feels safe, and looks stunning. The visor scratches easily compared to other tinted visors I've had on other helmets. Wind nose hasn't been tested because I wear earplugs. Visibility is great. The small things are impressive too, such as the Titanium Double D retention system and adjustable lining. The customer service at Revzilla is a reason I'll keep doing business with them.
I bought a drag racing helmet a couple of years ago from HJC and was impressed with quality and comfort. I recently bought HJC's Alpha 11 Pro helmet for my (new) motorcycle and it does NOT disappoint! Plenty of airflow, super light and comfortable, great visibility and an awesome graphic to get drivers' attention.
I bought that modular helmet just to have a helmet to ride a new bike home with… I really like it. The coms are built to fit inside the helmet. I love it.

About Impuls. It gets a huge amount of air thru the sun visor lever or somewhere around there. I had to put a big tape blocking it but...now I can´t use the sun visor. I feel materials a bit cheap. I do not feel it heavy, it´s actually very confortable to me. Speakers sound great if you´re testing at home. Once you´re riding, with all the air coming in, it´s average. With the tape, they sound pretty good.
I have the gloss carbon strada II and It’s been a great first helmet! Has everything you could need, but now after a year of riding I can fine tune my needs and wants!
Why not an RF-1400 over the K6. You can actually wear it in hot climates, it's quieter and meets the much more stringent ece 22.06 regs. Well worth a couple extra ounces in weight. Also Scorpion R1 hello?? FIM carbon helmet for $500 bucks..

@@djsnyder987 I know Shoei has a fantastic face shield swap system, but the K6 has an outstanding system. The internals that hold the shield are metal, and can be swapped extremely fast. Personally, I always use clear shields as I wear glasses. I just swap my glasses for prescription sunglasses.
My first helmet was an AGV K3 SV. It was a great first helmet. I bought the AGV K6 the first week it was released. The K6 is extremely light, fits me perfectly, and has the best field of vision from any helmet I've tried on. The gasket around the face shield is extremely thick, making it very quiet. I love the shield locking mechanism. That Nardo Grey looks sick! The face shield mounting is top notch with metal internals as well. Great helmet, but we wanted to highlight two FIM certified helmets this year which is why the AGV/LS2 got the nod. The Scorpion is one of Brandon's personal favorites though (uses it at the track a bunch) and won in our Gear Guide last year.
@@patrickmchugh8039 Scorpion has an FIM certified version of the EXO-R1 (which according to Scorpion Europe is the same as what we can buy off the shelf) in the small size - which shares the same shell as a medium - as that is what Fabio Quartararo used in MotoGP.
@@shimjohn I can promise you, the helmet is not FIM off the shelf. They certified the Small for racers to use, but the ones you can buy from retailers at this moment, while it may pass the FIM testing or not) will not have the sticker and cert card on it and therefore would not be FIM certified to customers. Passing the test is 1 thing, having the certification on the helmet is a whole different animal. Also keep in mind that is fort he US market as the ECE R1 is a different helmet altogether but the info on the FIM sticker should still be the same.
@@patrickmchugh8039 I agree with you, I know the off the shelf version is not FIM certified. The FIM version is only small certified because, as you know, FIM testing is incredibly expensive and so Scorpion only submitted one size as that’s what Fabio wears in MotoGP. But the XS, small and medium share the same shell. I am just saying, if the R1 is good enough to get FIM approval, I’m more than comfortable with knowing I’m wearing such a safe, yet budget friendly helmet. But Scorpion themselves have said the R1 you can buy off the shelf is the same as the FIM certified versions. This is the email I got from Scorpion Europe: “Our rider Fabio Quartararo rides the EXO-R1 AIR version (not the carbon one). The helmet Fabio is using in moto GP is the same as the EXO-R1 AIR you can buy, the only difference is that he has personnalized paint, liner and cheek pads. CAUTION : Scorpion Sports Europe do not provide helmets with FIM homologation for the public.”

Schuberth says their C5 modular helmet will be launched in he U.S in June. Waiting to hear about the C5 to compare with the Shoei before purchasing my next helmet.
Smart move, we are waiting on our DOT sample to test out. It will definitely get a detailed breakdown and Ride Tested for sure. Europe is getting it first but once we get the DOT version, we will get the info out there.
Wow interesting list. I’m a bit surprised that the Schuberth C5 did not make the list since it’s the only helmet that meets the new European strict ECE22-06 standard that comes out for 2023.
The C5 Helmet is not released yet in the US so it couldn't make the list. Maybe next year. And just an FYI, we sell a fair amount of helmets that meet the 22.06 standard, the C5 is not the only one.
In the Sports category nothing beats an ARAI... I have worn many helmet brands but Arai is next level. There is a reason as to why Arai is the chosen helmet for many riders at the Isle of Man TT and it does not get more dangerous than the TT.
Counterargument food for thought though: haven't a lot of people died wearing Arai's in that race too? Curious if there is a stat on that. 2/3 Dunlop deaths come to mind wearing Arai
Hey , just to say, about the budget sport helmet... Scorpion exo R1 carbon is the exact same one as fabio quartararo and you can find it under 400€. Ho i was about to forget , it weights 1200g . Amazing helmet, amazing price, what do we need more ...
I like the K6 but unfortunately it doesnt have an inner tinted flip down visor. Modular helmets concern me because the face relies on 2 pivot pins to take a front on impact. Not so sure they would survive too well.
Keep in mind that if you are concerned with front on impacts - that adding a drop down sunvisor adds a real compromise to the forehead for impacts. Since that gap of space for the sunvisor is larger and not filled w/ EPS, it causes a large crush zone for the helmet's shell. That is one of the main reasons that you can't have a SNELL helmet w/ a drop down sun visor.
1:50 comfortable, sure. But didnt you guys do a video a year back about how the DOT certification basically means nothing? So how safe is this thing really..
We have tons of helmets on order but brands are struggling to get them in the US. There is no one-date though, we order from each brand individually and each brand has been struggling to get shipments into the US for the past 2 years. If you sign up on the product page for a helmet you're interested in, you will be notified as soon as stock arrives.
I did wind up with an RPHA 90 for my recent purchase, but the Neotec 2 was a close contender. I will probably get one for my next helmet (or the 3 or whatever's out when the RPHA gets retired) to see how they compare.
I just don’t trust revzilla when they promote their own brands. Maybe I’m living in the past. The sedici and bilt items I’ve seen (and bought) have not been good and did not age well. Having to rebuy because of wear from poor construction increases the cost of an item.
These videos are good for information about features, availability and current pricing. However I think you’d be pretty silly not to view with suspicious any “recommendation” or “top ten list” that comes from the guys selling you the product.
I buy a ton of stuff every year from both big Comoto Group sellers (Revzilla/Cycle Gear) and will continue to do so. Good pricing and pretty fast shipping. As for their UA-cam channel I love the videos put out by Ari & Zack and was thrilled when revzilla hired them. In fact a lot of the channels content is pretty valuable. *HOWEVER* these “best of” videos are marketing plain and simple. These guys are not Independant reviewers.
I have some Sedici Antonio gloves. Huge thick uncomfortable and say 3m thinsulate. They're far colder to ride in than my thin and vented track style gauntlets. I couldn't believe it and was beyond pissed. My hands were painfully cold after a 40 minute ride home from work in 42 degree weather. Had some Built gauntlets. They were comfortable, warm enough in the cold, cool enough in the summer somehow. But the damn seams along the wrist area busted open within the 12th ride of using them.
Looking for the best modular helmet where the chin guard flips 180 degress. Any Advice? Shark EVO One 2 vs Scorpion EXO-Tech vs LS2 Valiant II Blackout?
The Sedici is great but i found that the padding worn in really fast and now the fit is really loose. I got a medium because small was way too tight and medium was a good fit but now its too loose. I am trying to order size small pads for it but they are out of stock everywhere. Ive been wearing my AGV k5 in the mean time. I bought the Strada 2 because i liked the paint job lol
Anybody have any opinion on the Icon Airflite? They are probably my favorite looking helmet, but I was curious about the safety rating (or lack thereof) and build quality. There's a chance I might buy my first motorcycle soon and I don't want to break the bank, but I also want something safe, but that also has some functionality (like the drop down visor the Airflite has)

So true. If the most expensive helmet doesn't fit right, you are going to be miserable.
Exactly! I tried Ls2 wont fit, AGV wont fit. Then i went HJC, fits like my face is resting on a pair of very soft bosoms.
@@THX5000 that's what some people do from where im from, fit isnt exact but since it is an Arai they like to show it off. then again, these are the same people who just ride to the coffee shop and back.
Nah you're absolutely right, I am also an Shoei guy because Arai simply didn't feel comfortable on my dome.
Wind noise isn't really a concern if you just use good motorcycle ear plugs
I still love my Sedici Strada II in carbon fiber. Going to add an AGV helmet to the collection as well.
HA! Crazy! I've been rocking that exact same AGV K6, in white, no less, for 2 seasons! SUPER light!
+1 for agv k6, it's my first premium helmet, amazingly light, comfortable inside. Does well upright on my mt10, and I just did 3 track days and it performed amazing there too
You like it? How’s the wind noise?
@@1down5ups just wear moto earplugs
Perfect. MT10 owner here too. Have been thinking about the K6. How do you find ventilation
I just got the Strada 2 Wet Carbon…I was suppressed to see it on this list, but I’m glad it is!
I have the newer K6s from AGV and absolutely love it. I can fully recommend that helmet.
The best helmets for 2022. Brought to you by guys who *make a living selling you* helmets. Getting real Glengary Glen Ross vibes here.

And they have access to all helmets and can review which are the best ones
@@chickenmanoktae and they’re great for information about features, pricing, availability etc. But come on bro, be fair. They are pretty much the direct opposite of an Independant reviewer.
@@GrimRabbi Are you sure those independent reviewers are objective and does not have any biases toward sa specific brand? Also, are they not paid off by the brand? LOL there are a few reviewers praising Ruroc helmet, you know they're paid, right?
A set of earplugs makes your bike go faster! Underrated feature.
Great video and information as usual. Thanks for the awesome content!
I bought that modular helmet just to have a helmet to ride a new bike home with… I really like it. The coms are built to fit inside the helmet.
I love it.
Shoei RF 1400 would be a great pick too at 520 bucks.
This video sort of has the feel of a hostage video, with corporate writing the script and recommending whatever is in stock. Spurgeon, blink your left eye rapidly if you need us to call Lemmy.
“I love the snell standard, I love it, I love snell 😳👀😳”
100%, no mention of shoei at all? Nonsense review
@@internetmike No mention of Shoei ? I wonder which is ranked as the best Modular helmet ?
I used to whine when the models/brands that I love/own didn’t feature in such a list.. But two brands - Bell and HJC - whose helmets I own appear in this list, so no comments this time 😉
Just my experience !
Love these comments. Makes my 6-12 months of testing/research and analyzing products to select for it feel worth it. Thanks FFN!
I tried on a Strada II (L) in-store and it had the same comfort/fit as my Bell MX9 adv and 500, which is to say for me is perfect.
Recently bought a Neotec 2. Excellent fit, comfort and ease of use. Expensive but worth every dollar.
I bought an Arai Regent-X. I like it, but want to add a K6 so I can rotate out. The K6 fits my head perfectly. Very comfortable helmet.
I have the gloss carbon strada II and It’s been a great first helmet! Has everything you could need, but now after a year of riding I can fine tune my needs and wants!
I’m thinking about getting this helmet. Would you recommend? What do u not like about it?
AGV k6 rocks. I love mine in Nardo gray color
I really wanted the K6 "Secret" colourway, but it wasn't available in my size when I was buying last summer. I'm a sucker for dazzle camo lol
@@Hotrob_J That graphic is awesome. Our Common Tread writer Greaser has one and we are all jealous.
@@Hotrob_J I think that colour is on sale right now. I like it but I dunno if I can rock it
Why not an RF-1400 over the K6. You can actually wear it in hot climates, it's quieter and meets the much more stringent ece 22.06 regs. Well worth a couple extra ounces in weight. Also Scorpion R1 hello?? FIM carbon helmet for $500 bucks..
This makes me feel a lot better because I went with the RF-1400 over the K6 and then I saw this video just now and thought to myself...I screwed up...The HJC RPHA 11 Pro is really nice to
Agreed. Also sedici strada 2 carbon for under 400.
I wear my K6 anytime, any weather. Its my second helmet after an AGV K3. The K6 is definitely the most comfortable helmet ive worn. Its the lightest helmet ive seen in person, and very quiet. Im looking at getting another high end helmet as well. The RF-1400 is most likely what ill be going with.
Plus adding a dark smoke shield to the K6 is $105. Ouch.
You guys are top shelf. Thanks.
I love my Bell MX9 Adventure MIPS, it's very comfortable and well built. My head is long oval and it fits me perfectly!
I just ordered a Neotech 2. I mean, it's expensive but the hemlet is something you do not compromise with price.
I'm looking at getting a second helmet soon, and the RF-1400 is at the top of my list. Cheers, great content as always.
The k6 wasn't a little warm?
@@cedricksamaniego9146 When's it's peak summer time in north east USA, I wear the K6 without the face shield since I wear glasses. It is definitely warm, but not too much to deal with.
@@Everendlesss
I can imagine the face tan‼️
Anti-fog spray can help with the fogging on your glasses if that's the issue.
@@cedricksamaniego9146 No no, it's the ventilation. The K6 is definitely a warm helmet when it's 90f+. The ventilation isn't spectacular when it's that warm out. The helmet comes with a Pinlock insert, so fogging never happens. I also use a certain glasses clear that prevent fogging
In my experience, if you are planning on riding over an hour straight.
The weight matters‼️
I’m here for the Modular helmets
Scorpion EXO R1 - FML certified, with dark visor, and pinlock included, tear off ready
Around $400 and weight around 1300 grams.
Now, that's bang for the buck!
And the pump things for size it would defo be my pick

Need a category for 3X and larger! Many of these don't come in a larger than 2XL. I have ordered 5 different helmets and have 1 that fits perfectly, My Scorpion, and one that fits OK, my HJC. The Sedici's are nice but way on the small side, especially the Strada II.
What do you find to fit well, having this issue myself
@@jakeclarke779 LS2 Asssault in 3X, HJC C91 in 4X, and Scorpion Black pattern (?) On-off road interchangeable. (Black with print. The Scorpion EXO 930 could not even go over my ears in 3X, and it had nothing to do with the comms system. When I went shopping in person at a dealer 45 miles away, they had little selection, so I have ordered 7 and kept 3 from Revzilla. Riders plus for the win on return shipping!
I got the ls2 thunder carbon for slightly below 400 dollars. And its averages around 350 to 400 in asia. (from authorized dealers)
Better budget track helmet would be the Scorpion EXO R1 air carbon, cheaper too.
This is the email I got from Scorpion Europe:
“Our rider Fabio Quartararo rides the EXO-R1 AIR version (not the carbon one). The helmet Fabio is using in moto GP is the same as the EXO-R1 AIR you can buy, the only difference is that he has personnalized paint, liner and cheek pads.
CAUTION : Scorpion Sports Europe do not provide helmets with FIM homologation for the public.”
@@patrickmchugh8039 and I forgot to mention, yes I am only referring to the European only ECE R1, as that is the model I have. Not the DOT version.
One question, when you did your wind testing did you included moving your head round at speed. I had to try several helmet until I found the Arai Quantum X. It was the only helmet that didn't feel like it was going to snap my neck when I had to check for traffic behind me. I am sure helmets like the AGV and others are great track helmets but not he road we need to look around more.
no rf1400? very surprising its probably the best helmet out for everyday riding
I don’t ride yet and I was surprised too. From what I’ve researched and seen, I was expecting it to be the Top pick for full face overall Helmet
The RF-1400 was highlighted in our gear guide last year. Great helmet but the K6 does beat it in certain categories so we chose to pick that one this year. Both are great helmets though. Thanks for the watch/comment!

I got the x-lite 803rs and for me the best choice. I just can recomend the helmet to everyone.
Which one of these have FIM rating?
probably should be a disclaimer that Sedici is a Revzilla own brand.
I bought my last Helmet from Revzilla. They had the HJC i70 Eluma in black and grey in my size. These helmets have been discontinued and are sold out everywhere. Scored the last one known to man for $183 delivered to my door. You can't touch a helmet with these features for under $200 anymore.
Do you guys mind saying the weight in grams?
I just ordered the sedici 2 And a fender eliminator kits. For my 2022 650
Wow interesting list.
Scorpion exo R1 carbon is the exact same one as fabio quartararo and you can find it under 400€.

is icon any good??? theres a helmet thats got dot and ece ratings but is icon an okay brand???
My AGV Pista GP RR still leading the pack, that's what I like to hear!
I know you say the K6 is glasses friendly, but I couldn't wear my 7eye glasses with the helmet, which was a bummer.
Probably because these helmets were designed for people with glasses who have 2 eyes.
I would love to purchase the AGV K6, you guys said its 2 lbs but on the website it said ~3 lbs... which one is true ?
1:50 comfortable, sure. But didnt you guys do a video a year back about how the DOT certification basically means nothing?
So how safe is this thing really..

I'm waiting a while to buy something but a LOT of your stuff is out of stock...how long is it going to be before there's some restocking?
Got the bell dlx with mips why don't all helmets have mips?
K6 has a big issue where there isnt enough room in the mouth area. when going around 130+ mph the helmet pushes into your face.
I chose HJC F70 which is a little more expensive than I90 but 110g lighter.
Hi, Im planning to buy a full face helmet AGV K6, my problem is how do I know the difference of Genuine and Fake ?
Buy it from an authorized dealer like us or others. That is the best way to avoid getting any sort of non-official helmet from any brand.

K6 is so light and comfortable, the padding material doesn’t catch on to your big ears but I feel like the padding won’t hold up.
I bought the Strada 2 because i liked the paint job lol
can somebody explain to me what is the purpose of a modular helmet because I don't see any. I would never use one. Full face only
