I came here after watching the colts vs pit playoff game 2005
Me too lol
Bro what a game that was!
Same
Now to go to the super bowl highlights
Me too!
This game would mark
-Only the second time in NFL history a team made the Super Bowl after winning three straight road playoff games
-The last playoff game for Mike Shanahan as head coach for the Broncos
-The first home playoff loss for the Broncos since 1996
-The first conference title game loss for the Broncos since 1991
-The second conference title win for Bill Cowher as head coach
I’m pretty sure I’d take this over the 96 divisional loss even tho I wasn’t alive for the loss in 96.. that year Broncos were 14-2 with a 1 seed in the afc playoffs.. Jaguars came in like 9-7 6th seed with a qb who had never started a post season game and kept up with Denver’s 1 rated offense and pulled the win out 30-27.. my dad to this day said that’s his most painful moment of being a Denver fan.. the ravens double overtime loss in 2012 stung quite a bit as well and will probably go down as my most painful fan moment lol
@@Shinuchiha_99 And don't forget, the Jags entered that '96 playoff game as a second-year expansion team. Mark Brunell was their quarterback, Tom Coughlin was their head coach and they pulled off a stunning upset over the Bills. It marked the first time that any opposing team walked out of Buffalo with a playoff win and it sent Jim Kelly into retirement. That team was a lot better than people gave them credit for, but at the same time, the Broncos had no business losing that game at home.
Broncos only loss at home in 2005
This was a blow out from beginning until end.
@mtrujillo1973 hilarious
That Steelers team was loaded
That slam to bettis that got called back was a beautiful play.
Damn that Pitts defense was scary
Poor Jake Plummer, he wasnt ready for this defense.
He had a decent year, but couldn’t translate it here.
I remember my Dad loving the Steelers so much, but also hating the Patriots, he rooted for the Broncos right alongside of me that year. This game is how it ended, still one of my fondest rivalries I ever had. Funny thing is after the Steelers won I told him they better go all the way, the rest is history.
2020 Steelers can return to this
Not without a defense.
@@shawnj1966 We have a top 5 defense
@@shawnj1966 defense?? Seriously? Steelers d had a huge turning point last season. Offense is more of a question than defense. AB left a big hole
Looks like we are
@@dmeads5663 well im a giant fan and the browns put a beating on yall. Hope the browns can win against the chiefs and play in the afc championship game , and maybe get 2 the super bowl. They deserve it.
Being 8 when this happened I remember the bengals then the colts then Seahawks like it was yesterday but this game for some reason I couldn’t remember anything about happy I found it
nice, but I feel old at 37 now 😒
Big Ben pulling out his six shooters is an all time clip. I don't think he's ever shown much emotion since.
I was 7 years old watching this team made me bleed black and gold until the day i die just hope we can get back to this
Liquid Plummer sent his new team's hopes down the drain 😂😂😂😂
LOOOOOL
mtrujillo1973 someone’s madddd
🤣🤣🤣 Liquid Plummer
Here's is what the Steelers accomplished in this post-season:
a) Defeated AFC #3 seed Cincinnati: 31-17
b) Defeated AFC #1 seed Indianapolis: 21-18
c) Defeated AFC #2 seed Denver in AFC title game: 34-17
d) Defeated NFC #1 seed Seattle in the Super Bowl: 21-10
The 2010 Packers won the Super Bowl from the #6 spot beating #1, #2, #3, but the team they beat in the Super Bowl (the Steelers) was the #2 seed.
The Titans are trying to accomplish the same thing. They are almost assuredly going to face the Chiefs in the AFC title game. I am not sure who is making the Super Bowl from the NFC, but the 49ers look pretty strong. So who knows? Maybe the 2019 Titans can replicate what the 2005 Steelers did. Unlikely, but it sure would be fun.
Nope
nope. the titans got thrashed by the chiefs.
not even close. 2019 season belongs to the chiefs. even i as a patriots fan i gotta give credit where credit it's due. mahome's a beast!
Tennessee had a solid team in 2019, and that could be the farthest that team will go.
The interesting thing is I remember Pittsburgh being so confident before this game. Like they knew they were going to blow Denver out...
Denver was a solid team (13-3 and pretty solid statistically), but they didn’t play well in this game.
@@fortynights1513I wouldn't doubt if the Broncos were favored to win this game.Unless the Steelers were favored.
@@arnoldgarzajr1164 The Steelers were underdogs. They were a 6th seed and they won 3 straight road playoff games against the Bengals, Broncos and Colts on their way to the SB.
I remember this situation.
Once the Steelers beat the Colts, only the Patriots could’ve beaten the Steelers after that. The thing is the Broncos beat the Patriots, so it was just another day at the office for the Steelers
Mike Shanahan's best chance to win a super bowl without Elway got ruined by a qb who turned into a chef who only made turnovers 😁
Can the Steelers play the Broncos at home in the playoffs for once
Broncos fan here, but I will say that can happen if they end the season with a better record than the chiefs & Broncos can hold a better record than the raiders. But then again we may play the chiefs if that happens?I kind of forget how scenarios go..it gets complicated lol..
They have a couple of times.
Fun fact for you: the Broncos did face the Steelers in the afc title game in 97 and the Qb of the Steelers that year went to and played football for Colorado university in Boulder and was a national champion in 91.. that man is cordell Stewart.. one of the great qbs like Marino, Kelly, mcnabb, Moon, McNair etc. who have never won a world title but definitely got close just no cigar
I was living in DC at the time (been in Detroit since 2007) and I went to both games...in Pittsburgh in 1997 and in Denver in 2005...awesome times lose, then win!
Ben Roethlisberger looks like Shia LaBeouf in his profile pic lol
When are we ever gonna win the championship game again smh
When u play the Jets lol
Almost there man almost there is coming home
Can confirm Never unless pickett leads us
Can confirm Pickett didn’t lead us
Jake Plummer one of the worst AFC Championship performances ever
Certainly a bad performance on Jake Plummer’s part, but for the absolute worst in the AFC Championship Game, look up both quarterbacks in 1982.
If you add up what David Woodley and Richard Todd did in that game, it’s barely a third of Plummer’s passer rating here.
Is the year the the Ben got his 1st Superbowl
That wss last year
K O R i G A N yes. It was his second season in the league. His first season they were defeated by New England in the AFC Championship game
RealBlessed we won the 2005 Super Bowl idiot we won it the 2004-2005 regular season
@@duskthunder9274 no you didnt, idiot. The Patriots won the Superbowl for the 04-05 season. Pittsburgh won for the 2005-2006 season.
Denver overlooked the Steelers,(I know it sounds crazy, in an AFC championship game) but after the colts lost, they thought the super bowl, was a given.
Bro y’all lost to Tebow though
I got excited when the Steelers won And shitzu bit me in the ankle i got a shoestring tackle in the living room
I forgot Jake Plummer was relevant once lol.
Mark Schlereth said the Steelers would feel the heat of the Denver defense. Looks like they met all of the resistance of a knife through warm butter.
Hello from December 30, 2023, we r about to play Seahawks and we believe in Rudolf! Hopefully we win and go Seed 7 all the way to SB and win it 😂😂😂
Well boys. This year feels awfully familiar. Big name player in his last season, still a chance to make the playoffs. Can we do it again?
Let's face it; Mike was good coach when he had John Elway. His record was 47-17 and those two Super Bowls. When John retired it was average 97-77. Stayed too long.
I got here after hearing the bengals would have won the super bowl if Palmer never went down this year. I don’t think so. -Bengals fan
He had a shot with Arizona from 2014-2017 just never got it done in the post season.. 2015-2016 season was probably the best shot he had.. Carolina and Cam Newton put those dreams to rest rather easily in the nfc title game that same season though… RIP Carson
Omw does this mean you ganna add the 2005 nfc championship ive been asking everbody for the last month
Ashley Lelie
I was a fan of his and wrote him a letter in middle school lol
@@JOEL00111 i remember laughing at his name whenever I pulled his football card out from my collection lol
I was at this game when I was 4
Jake Plummer stunk this day.
Jake Plummer wet the bed on this game. Horrible performance. Plus the Broncos secondary was just brutal. Receivers were wide open.
For once, Cowher actually played to win in these playoffs
they turned Jae into a plumber
This looks like it was filmed in 1969
This was just before high definition became more of the norm on television (you can find it for a handful of stand alone telecasts before this, but around 2007 or 2008, it becomes more common arguably)
@@fortynights1513 I know. I watched this in high definition when it was broadcast. What I am saying is the 480i "original broadcast" resolution looks better than this. It looks like it was recorded on low quality VHS, copied a few times, worn out a bit, then transferred to digital format. A few of the 70's Steelers games are on UA-cam with better quality.
@@Creelick67 I could see older games from this having better video quality. The down lines and score box look rough in particular.
As for the two teams we have here:
Pittsburgh had a very good team (on defense in particular), and would make and win the Super Bowl of course. From a Seahawks fan, winning on the road three times before that is pretty impressive too.
As for Denver, they didn’t match up well against Pittsburgh from the looks of it, but credit where it’s due, they went 13-3 with season stats that are relatively close to a team of that record, they handed Brady and Belichick their first playoff loss in the prior round, and this is probably the best team that Mike Shanahan coached without John Elway under center, as well as the only one who won a playoff game.
Ironically 1969 was probably considered the the Steelers worst year.
This is when the “fixing” and “rigged” moment happened. Tell me I’m wrong 😅
Jake Plummer three turnovers damn
Jake the Mistake. The game when Jake became a rag doll in the 4th Quarter. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wrong!! This was the 2006 AFC Championship Game January 22, 2006. 2005 AFC Championship game was Patriots vs. Steelers on January 23, 2005!
Physically in 2006, yes. But we tend to say 2005 because that was the NFL season it’s a part of.
Wtf when was this ?
2005
I'll say it to this day, if Bailey picks off that passed in the first half the Broncos I believe somehow find a way to win that game!
Refs were doing everything they could to stop the Steelers from beating the colts and broncos. Couldn’t do anything for the Seahawks in the Super Bowl either.
What a bull crap scripted game.
Plummer choked in this game.
