- Wound packing is a very important trauma skill set to learn. Wound packing works great in areas were can not get a tourniquet up high enough. You can us gauze or hemostatic agent such as QuikClot or Celox.

Great info and demo!
In my military first aid training we were taught to tie our gauze together, because in the type of wound a bullet or fragment produces there is a large area that is torn up in the body. in a wound packing simulator we packed 14 rolls of gauze before we got a mound of gauze that we then could put a dressing on. Nasty stuff...
Great great video. Thanks for this. I'm a former paramedic and watching your vids reminds me just how much I miss my past occupation
Excellent video! Very informative and clear on the procedure. I am working on finishing my kit now with a few medications. I don’t know how to use everything in my kit so it’s nice to see video like this explain the basics. This gives me the confidence to do it on my own should the need ever arise. Thank you.
Very cool video! The simulator is great in the way that you actually get to see when the bleeding stops and how much gauze and direct pressure you really need in order to keep that person alive. I don't know how Rick had it set up however you could put a bucket with red water and a pump and put the amount of liquid that would lead to bleeding out if that makes any sense. If you take too long and the bleeding stops without gauze and pressure then you know you have taken too long and the patient has died. Great video can't wait to see more!
Good job as usual. Great refresher.
Great demonstration. Thank you for the time, effort and dedication.

Hey there SkinnyMedic, I am new to the medic section of prepping, could you explain to me what you must do after you, for instance have packed a wound with combat gauze and covered it up with an israeli bandage and you have no hospital avaliable, when do you take the gauzes out and for how long should you keep it there? Is it posible for a wound like that to heal entirely from the inside, after stitches? And can arteries regrow after being pierced by a branch after a fall or a gunshotwound?
Excellent tool!
Yes it is
excellent information.
Thank you
nice vid , so simple but so important
Thank you
Cool video and wound sim
Looks like a great training aid every EMS course should have
Yes
Great video! I've heard that you should never wound pack the chest or abdomen but I never found out why not or what to do with wounds to those areas instead. Could anyone advise me on this please?
Thanks again for your amazing channel
From what I gather you don't want to wound pack the chest and abdomen due to the fact their just a large cavity so you're never gonna be able to properly pack in gauze like you would somewhere else like an arm or shoulder. The best thing to do from what I've seen is to use a chest seal to prevent air entering into the chest cavity. I'd definitely recommend doing your own research though since I'm still learning as well and could be wrong or misinformed.
Very helpful for me
Awesome
great video brother, thanks for the info!
Thank you for watching
SkinnyMedic hey bro! Used this method just a few hours ago on a stabbing..... works well! Thanks again skinny medic!
Nice!
Nice One Bro!
Thank you
Good one Skinny....
Thanks
The demo guy reminds me of Patrick bates from American psycho
can u use guaze, maxipad and a ace bandage if you don't have a Israeli bandage
Travis Hailey version of a medic!!
Where in VA are they located? I live in VA and have been looking for some good first aid classes. I live in southern VA, along the VA/NC border.
They are near Fredericksburg.
Greg McDaniel Thanks. That's what I figured. Seems like all the cool stuff is in NoVA (northern Virginia) lol.
Have you seen or used the CoFlex Universal Medic Absorbent Foam Dressing (UMAFD) from Andover Healthcare? What do you think?
I have not but I will look into it
If it’s a gunshot wound do you pack the entry or exit wound with combat gauze? Or both?
if possible, would rubbing providone iodine all over hands and nails be best?.....
Great video, but, where could I go to buy real medial gear, not only to carry, but to train with? Amazon is filled with fake, knock offs......who can we trust? Is there a skinny medic....al professional offering genuine gear?
Do you have a video on what to do if someone has a seizure?
he made a quick tips video, he covers it a little bit.
I did a short one a while back
When he says feel for the warm blood flow are you looking for the bleeding vain?
Thank you
what's the advantage of using a tourniquet over the Israeli bandage?
apples and oranges, a tourequit is for extremites, an israeli bandage is for after wound packing
In Germany arent much events like this : (
You should start it! ;-)
Yes :D
did you heard of the shooting in Germany? I'm glad I have a ifak with me most times, even the shooting wasn't near to my state ( I hope ya say state to that what I mean )
thank you for the answer & the vids
god bless
suck a dope video!!
What's your opinion on using female tampons as packing of a gunshot wound ? Especially in case of multiple gunshot wounds ...
Watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/Nf_PPQOrKIc/v-deo.html
That's an excellent video.... and I get your point ... but having seen some pretty wicked holes :D that "supposedly" have been plugged with those tampons, I think I'll still keep them in my EDC first aid kit. ;)
... just will get a bigger size
Your doing an excellent job. Thank you
Next time I have my period I'm calling this guy.
Abigail Sockeye ...awkward...
LMFAO... 👍.....
Ewwww. Lol
