Minus him not mentioning the inside out part,, this trick actually works pretty darn good. Duvet covers have been the bane of my existence up till now.
Still kinda difficult but I bought my first duvet and after trying so hard for 30 minutes I found this video and was able to successfully do it! Thank you so much💗💗
My mother has a lovely duvet on her bed. For 2 years, she and I struggled with getting the duvet back inside the freshly laundered cover. Until one fateful day, I find this video! It has saved our scant sanity!! Endless gratitude for showing this marvelous trick!!!
Just discovered this video, watched it 3 times and got it on the first attempt all by myself! I am unusually proud because I’m usually so bad at these things lol ETA: The most important piece of information is at the end - make sure to start with the duvet cover inside out!
Yes this worked sooo well! I had a bad experience before with duvet covers and I was scared to try them again but I did...and this was a life saver, did it in one try without the struggle that they can be! Thank you!
I’ve had our duvets for two years now and watched this video several times. TODAY I finally did It! On one. Mine are huge, so there was a lot of going from one side to the other. Tomorrow I will tackle the other. Thanks for this video!
This is brilliant! So glad I found this video. Trying to put a Cal King duvet on was back breaking before. Now it's a piece of cake! I did it myself and took me 5 minutes. Thank you!!
Hmmm, "effortlessly" is a bit of an overstatement... When you're alone and the bed is in between three walls... Having been living abroad, I've learned that my native Finland is probably the only country where there are two smaller holes also on the other end of the duvet cover. You put your hands through the small holes all the way to the end so that they come out from the big opening, grab the duvet, and then shake until the duvet is inside the cover. It makes so much sense I cant believe it's not standard 😅 But as I no longer have such duvet covers (and haven't cut extra holes in the ones I have), I still find it more manageable than the burrito style, as many have said in the comments, with the cover turned inside out, grab two corners of the duvet and let it unfold... I guess the mechanism is similar to the burrito but just easier when you're alone in a tight space.
For the life of me idk why I can never remember how to do this🙄 I have to reference this video every time I change my sheets. Since I have a king sized bed, it's much harder to do this because of constantly going from one side to the other while rolling😩 Either way, this video is a tremendous help no less😌
At the start, the guy says “You know how you have to turn it inside out....”. Then at the end, Rachel reinforces that you start with it inside out. It’s a good idea to watch any tutorial to the end first! In this video, by the end it’ll be clear that the duvet has to be inside out at the start, even if no one said it. 😊
I just grab a corner of the duvet, then put it to the inside corner of the cover, same with the other corner, then grab both corners from the outside and shake the cover down over the duvet. My mother does it that way so I must have got it from her, but it also just seems very intuitive. But I guess it's not, since so many are talking about climbing INTO the cover... instead of just their arms. Not everyone can reach both corners of their blanket, though!
I did NOT expect this to work. Between my crappy hand/eye coordination and general brain fog (COVID-19 shoutout!) I started this with a complete lack of expectations. I don’t think I’ve been this happy since 2016 happened. Please never take this down, as I have already forgotten how I managed to accomplish this!
Right after seeing this I couldn’t believe all the people doing the duvet shuffle. I guess I don’t understand UA-cam except to be addicted to it but to see so many people giving that same demo was amazing.😮
R34L BADAZZ I did it myself and it was a cinch. This is brilliant! Saved me so much hassle and sweat trying to get the darn cover on. I was done in 5 minutes!
We tried this at the hotel where I work, and it works pretty well IF 2 people are doing it together. Then again, we put duvets together several times every day, so we really didn't struggle with the old method.
I used to think this was such a wonderful method. Now I know there is a better way. Turn the cover inside out then put your hands in through the open end and put them into the corners which will be at the top of your bed. Grasp the appropriate corners of the duvet and flip until the cover has "deployed" itself then button the open end. The easiest and fastest way that I have found! I found it on YT!
That's almost how I do it... except I don't bother turning the cover inside out, I just grab a corner of the duvet, then put it to the inside corner of the cover, same with the other corner, then grab both corners from the outside and shake the cover down over the duvet. My mother does it that way so I must have got it from her, but it also just seems very intuitive. But I guess it's not, since so many are talking about climbing INTO the cover... instead of just their arms. Not everyone can reach both corners of their blanket, though!
Did it! But with a king size duvet in a bedroom with bedside tables and lamps and a bench at the end of the bed. It was a bit difficult but a lot better than trying to stuff the duvet in through the opening in the cover.
This is a God send for a confined space like a Motorhome bunk.. but what I learned first time which I dont know if explained in this video.. if you have a patterned side you need to lay it upside down with the pattern to the bottom for it to come out the right way when duvet in place in cover 👍
I tried this for the first time today, alone. It worked! I don’t know the sorcery behind this 😂 but I’m never going back to the lost in the duvet method
Mine too, a lot of them are like that. I've seen this method demonstrated by someone else and they used one that had the wide opening too. It's not practical for most doonas.
Mine took about 15 minutes because the first time I did it wrong but then it turned out fine the second time but it was difficult since I have a big bed
Ok help....if my fuvet is 92x96 should my insert be the same size? All the videos seem to show that but Google stated 2" shorter all the way around but then the ties may not reach or tear. Thoughts? Help please. LOVE THIS EASY VIDEO! I was dreading the challenge but now it will be simple.
This works ladies and gents. I made my own duvet cover from 2 flat sheets for my queen size down comforter. I was fed up with the prices for one duvet and some of the comforters in stores come with no way for you to keep the thing from shifting all over the place, SOOOOO, I purchased some nice strong ribbon and plastic rings you can get at wallmart in the fabric section, and sewd the rings to the inside corners of the cover and the ribbons to the corners of the comforter.. a little work and a few bucks did it for me. When I wash the cover, NOT THE COMFORTER, everything stays in place and I just tie the corners with the ribbon to the corners of the cover and BAM... This moves nowhere even when you toss and turn and always keeps it's shape. Once you get the hang of what was shown, you will find that it's realy easy.... at the opening you can purchase round velcro fasteners that iron on or come ready to stick on. Hope this helps.
This is fucking amazing! I just did this in like 7 mins with no complaining, normally I do it having to put my head inside it, tedious af task that took 10+ minutes with breaks, and I fucked dreaded each time I had to change the sheets. I didn’t even know most people did it inside out so imagine how big of a task I made it for myself before. This is a life changer! My duvet is actually a larger size than my bed, so it would’ve been way easier if they were the same size because I wouldn’t have to go around each side of the bed. When doing this roll, you have to match up the sides too, not just the corners. Would’ve taken like 2-5 mins if I had a size that’s right for my bed! And I’m so glad Rachel brought up that the duvet cover has to be inside out. I was confused at first.
Very odd. Takes me 2-3 min. the old fashioned way & I can do it solo. Since I live alone, the duvet sausage seems like it would be a huge pain in the neck.
This only works if the duvet is printed on both sides. If only on one side, you have to put the duvet cover inside out with the pattern facing the bed, then follow the instructions in this video.
OK Im 53 yrs old 1st of all I just found out what a DUVET actually was. Then now I just bought my first DUVET SET. Im sooo nervous to put it on. But now I found this video I guess tomorrow I'll get the balls to try to perfect this difficult task . BOY I SWARE IM REALLY NERVES . THANKS
What do you do with the strings, cords or what ever they are that are in the corners of the duvet? When I bought the duvet it said you could tie the corners. How do you do that? Where's that part in the demonstration?
This is theoretical ok. My idea is for two people doing it. So get a bar roughly the same width as the duvet (slightly shorter) and which weighs more than 8 pounds. Then wrap the duvet around the bar so the bar is in the middle of the roll. Then stretch your cover across the duvet so the duvet roll just goes in. All the time keeping it horizontal on the bed. Then one person each side holding the corners of the cover and the duvet together, just lift it straight up above your heads but slightly in front of you and the weight of the bar will unroll the duvet inside the cover. Then make a small hole on one side of the cover so you can pull the bar out. Sometimes there are corner holes Tell me what you think about this idea ok.
I just tried this and because my opening is not right to the end it didn’t work. I’m sure it’s me not doing it right, but I ended up doing it the way I normally do it and it worked first time. 🤷🏻♀️
Does anyone know if I can buy a duvet cover tat fits a australuan Q comforter? Someone gifted us a comforter from Australia and I love it it got dirty because I couldn’t find a duvet cover that fit.... I finally used a full size american Q cover as the twin is too small... The full size is it a perfect fit so my comforter inside wont stay in pkace .... I am now using clips on the corners to keep them in place but that is not a good solution. Help?!
this trick sucks when it's one person or when the opening is not full length not sure which is easier, doing it normally or doing it this way, but i'm getting a work out
I did have every cuss word known to man in my head as I tried to navigate this, but finally, it worked out. The inside-out tip in another comment here saved me.
I have to look this video up EVERY SINGLE TIME I wash my duvet so please don't ever take this video down
Me too!!
same
Me too! Idk why I can’t seem to ever remember it 😅
Me too!!!
Once a year! Lol
Would've helped if he told us to put inside out! Thanks Rachel for letting us know in the end. You caught he didn't mention that TINY detail. 😜
without her last minute correction we all would have been screwed. Thanks Rachel. Dude you suck. HOLD THIS!
kevin maxey trains
Great now I’m stuck with an inside out duvet cover for a month
He did say inside out before doing it. I heard him.
he said to at 0:09
I just purchased a duvet cover for the first time in my 28 year old life and this video saved my life. Thanks Rachael and co!!!!
In the last 7 years, no matter many times I do this, I still have to come back to this video. Like every other month. It’s wild.
Thc?
Me tooo!! And each time I swear I Won't need to the next time! And undoubtedly it's been 3 years already and I still do it! LOL
I have to change the speed setting on the video to really slow so my ADHD brain can follow it.
Minus him not mentioning the inside out part,, this trick actually works pretty darn good. Duvet covers have been the bane of my existence up till now.
I"m also not seeing which side goes on top. He's using a duvet where it doesn't matter.
I'm just gonna get my mom
Dead
😂😂🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣
i’m home alone trying to figure this out rn
Yeah they told us to start with it inside out at the end. Once I had already done it
spoiled
It is still a pain if you are doing this yourself, but still better than climbing IN the douvet cover to move the duvet around.
Omg I thought I was crazy when I did that lmao
I do it alone, just be patient. I have a Cal King with an oversize duvet and comforter. 128x98
MrPCT007 omg! And you do it by yourself?
😂😂😂😂
That’s what I do lol
I just throw it inside the cover, match up 2 corners then shake it till I make it
SW yep, that’s the way to do it XD
Well that's kinda hard to do with a king size duvet like mine. The rolling method is way easier
SW lol that was my plan 😂😂🤣🤣😂
I thought I was the only one doing it that way😂
@Sadie Gunter I have to go inside once 2 corners are matched as I can't find the other 2 haha
First time duvet user and I did this method by myself with a king size!!! It works 🙌. Thank you
This changed my life, thank you
Still kinda difficult but I bought my first duvet and after trying so hard for 30 minutes I found this video and was able to successfully do it! Thank you so much💗💗
You have to be a special kind of stupid to to fail repeatedly for 30 minutes
My mother has a lovely duvet on her bed. For 2 years, she and I struggled with getting the duvet back inside the freshly laundered cover. Until one fateful day, I find this video! It has saved our scant sanity!! Endless gratitude for showing this marvelous trick!!!

And to think I've been sleeping on my duvet cover on top of my duvet for almost a year.
Was about to do that then I figured the cover would just slip off all the time so I searched ways to do this and this video popped up
I did this all by myself. Easy peasy. Thanks for the magic lesson!!! ✨✨✨🙏🏻🙏🏻
I just bought my first duvet cover and realized I didn’t know how to put it on. Didn’t think this would work but it did! Thanks! 😊

Since I have a king sized bed, it's much harder to do this because of constantly going from one side to the other while rolling😩 Either way, this video is a tremendous help no less😌
After three failed attempts, I went back to the old "stuff and shake" method. easy peasy.
This video made it SO MUCH EASIER!! my fiancé and me got it done the first try! THANK YOU

When I bought my duvet cover I knew there would an easier hack to put it on. So glad I found it.
Omg it worked and I did it all by myself 😂 thanks
I just did this tonight with the help of my daughter. It worked and it was so easy! Next time I hope to be able to do it alone!
I just grab a corner of the duvet, then put it to the inside corner of the cover, same with the other corner, then grab both corners from the outside and shake the cover down over the duvet.

It worked!!! BUT you need to turn your cover on the reverse side before you start. Super easy! Thank you!
I literally just followed directions all by myself and with in minutes I made my bed with my duvet with ZERO FRUSTRATION🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻… wow
Effortlessly lol? Took 3 people to roll it up 🤣🤣🤣
Did it alone as they were talking first attempt. That's easy as fuck
R34L BADAZZ I did it myself and it was a cinch. This is brilliant! Saved me so much hassle and sweat trying to get the darn cover on. I was done in 5 minutes!
Living alone is tough man. Be thankful if you’re living with your family.

It helps if your duvet cover opening goes all the way to the edges. If not, well it's doable just a bit harder
The "burrito" method.
It's brilliant.
There's a little more effort when you have a 15 lb weighted blanket like I have, but it works.
It worked! I secured the corner ties after unrolling the sausage!
Did it! But with a king size duvet in a bedroom with bedside tables and lamps and a bench at the end of the bed. It was a bit difficult but a lot better than trying to stuff the duvet in through the opening in the cover.
this totally work! I'm going to be washing my duvet cover a lot more often now!
THIS SHIT WORKED!! NO MORE STRUGGLING WITH THIS DAMN DUVET!!! YALL THE REAL MVP'S!!!
This is a God send for a confined space like a Motorhome bunk.. but what I learned first time which I dont know if explained in this video.. if you have a patterned side you need to lay it upside down with the pattern to the bottom for it to come out the right way when duvet in place in cover 👍

Did you tie the duvet cover ties?
Thank you, Rachel Ray Show! and thank you, UA-cam! Why I didn't search this until now⁉
Thank you for sharing this! It helped a lot.
See, my issue is my duvet cover opening is like a zipper pocket that doesn’t go from end to end, its like in the middle
That sounds horrible lol
Mine too, a lot of them are like that. I've seen this method demonstrated by someone else and they used one that had the wide opening too. It's not practical for most doonas.
I did it for 2 light duvets together in 1 cover and it worked!
Super useful tip for larger beds. Smaller ones, throw the duvet in, grab the corners and shake!
I loved it like magic thanks so much will be using Duvets more now thanks to your video.
Thx so much I did it 1000 times but I finally did it watching this video over and over 😅😁
did it solo! didn't take 2 minutes, maybe around 5 but it worked!
Ryan Davies was it the Han way?
Mine took about 15 minutes because the first time I did it wrong but then it turned out fine the second time but it was difficult since I have a big bed
Just did this by myself and it worked perfectly! So much easier.

Yeah, they should’ve mentioned that
Just tried it and it worked perfectly.

Instructions unclear, I’m stuck in a sausage on the floor (I rolled off my bed) please send my mom to get me
hahaha very funny..
@@maysilva431 eeeeyyy No need to get mean, I actually found it very funny.

@@sieeeeeeen glad someone found it funny, i had to call my mom 😂
LOL 😂😂

We’ve been using this video for the past six years. #MDGA !!! Make Duvets Great Again 👍🏻
I'm still convienced that this is black magic
Might be, but it worked for me so it could be some Harry Potter trick for all I care 🤣💜
Naw. It works. Good thing my weighted blanket is only twin size...lol
Wow, this actually worked!
I just flipped it inside out, laid the comforter on top, tied the corners together and flipped it inside out again. It took two seconds.
This was amazing! I did it!
Works like a charm
Every time I change my duvet cover I say- next time I won’t need the video, but here I am again…
THANKS
Any good duvet inserts people recommend ? I’m looking at Purple, Brooklinen, west elm and a few at Macy’s. Trying to find the best deal
Colombianitax23 I just ordered one off amazon for like $30. I’ll let you know!
Alexis Charlton awesome 😀

Worked like a charm!
Yo this actually worked 🤯🤯🤯

I just did it!! I have a cal king size so i struggled a bit but did it
I have dyspraxia and this is such a lifesaver
This worked perfectly! thank-you!
Good trick will defo try ✨✨
Following the instructions, then to find u f'd up the first step, this just made the task harder!
Great!just slightly difficult with IKEA duvet cover... the opening is smaller...
Hey it worked! Thanks!
It worked great for me and I was doing this alone
This changes everything!
I just tried this and because my opening is not right to the end it didn’t work. I’m sure it’s me not doing it right, but I ended up doing it the way I normally do it and it worked first time. 🤷🏻♀️
I did it finally took 5- 10 minutes but I got it. Yayyyy
Thanks so much for this video!
Thank you, easiest way to put a quilt cover. thanks very much.
Video just changed my entire life
Woahhhhhhh it actually workssss

this trick sucks when it's one person or when the opening is not full length
not sure which is easier, doing it normally or doing it this way, but i'm getting a work out
But then how do u tie all the corners? Then mine will just bulk up inside the cover.
Except he didn't say to turn it inside out, until Rachel cleared that up. Thanks Rachel.
I did this - by myself - and it does work. However, it is still work.
I literally JUST learned this and oh my god
I did have every cuss word known to man in my head as I tried to navigate this, but finally, it worked out. The inside-out tip in another comment here saved me.
I love curtis!
