Thank you very much for this. I also could not find any good sifters. The tip to make your own was great. Also appreciate the source for the screen.
While I've not completed it yet, I've used very thin silver sheet, measured it to a small squares (using a ruler), then cut the squares out (using a high quality metal shears). While not as fast as the Otto Frei chopper, it does the job. I actually plan to merely mix the charcoal powder with the small squares in a random manner, then pack it all into the crucible as you have done. No need to layer as I figure it should evenly disperse (the beauty of entropy!). This I don't think would work with the small wire pieces as they don't have enough surface area, but the tiny foil piece are much more likely to stay suspended in the dust. After they are melted, you can use a small jar with a retaining weir. A little bit of shaking and the balls should fall to the bottom of the dust quickly. Then you just decant the dust. At the very end you can use a bit of water to flush the rest of the dust. This is basically the same principle as gold panning.

I love this tool!!!! But I got a big giggle when you said, I will start slow so you can follow along, Well, I thought that was fast… So I’m thinking, well what is fast????? Then you really went fast… WOW I do use granulation in my work especially with 940 argentuim… I’ve worked with the tool to where you can measure the links of your wire and that was ago and it was not mine… so I’m not sure if I have worked with this tool… but I love this tool. Now I’m gonna go back to the video and finish watching you. Thanks, Michelle

Lot of good content here Leslie. Really like your new style and the work you did to come up with cool screens was a keeper. Thanks!
PS--I don't think the N95 will help with fumes, as its meant for particulates. I think you need a respirator to protect your lungs from harmful toxins produced from melting plastic. Think of firefighters going into a fire--they generally don't wear N-95s.

Hi Leslie! Great video, I needed a refresher and this was perfect! Same temp structure with 18K?

I love the chopper too! Is there any way to use a glass kiln (for enameling, for instance) to heat the fine silver to make granules?

I wondered about that also, the temperature of a paragon type kiln may not be able to hold that hot how hot is yours?

@@LeslieKailVillarreal I'm going to check tonight. I have a Paragon that is programmable to hold at a temp, but I don't know how high. I also have a Vcella that is not programmable, but my guess is will go hotter. I have never either past 1600 (and rarely go that high), but I am going to check each for their capacity. I can't thank you enough for the tutorial--it's just great, a real gift.
