  • I wanted more frontal lighting for offroad situations but I wanted something low key.
I found that that the Baja S2 Pros would fill my needs for being low profile and bright! 2400 lumens each! I needed the brackets and other hardware and saw that Rago Fabrication just changed their brackets to stainless steel so now there's no rusting issues.
Here's my vlog about it. It highlights the crucial steps I took to get it working.
Here are the links for the products I bought:
Baja Designs S2 Pro combo: amzn.to/2ZDdMyY

Smart man, I just did S2 sport ditch lights in Amber. These S2’s are great because they are SO low profile. So many people run ditch pods and they are massive and goofy looking but these S2’s are very sleek and powerful.

Rob, I literally bought everything you suggested and will be attempting this tonight. How do you connect the ground from the harness to the ground of the switch to the pig end? Did you just throw a pig tail on the end of the ground switch from the harness and then just slice the ground from the switch onto it? Also, where did you attach the pigtail to the truck to ground it?

Thanks for watching. You would connect your Rago switch to either your fuse panel with a Add a fuse or your battery directly. Then from that switch you wire your lights. It's low enough amperage that you won't need a relay.

Hi. Different gauge wire in that low amperage set up shouldn't be an issue since you mentioned slightly.
What did you do to extend the wires? Crimp connect? You could always remove that wire and temporary twist the the wires to test. If you have a multi meter it would be better so you can test voltage. It also has a fuse and switch so check that too.

I’m not sure but this is the way I’m thinking
      Rago Freedom has 4 wires
      Green will be added fuse
Red 2 will wire to the dashboard wire
Black will wire to the 2 black/wire in the Baja switch and then mount it underneath
And Red 1 will connect to which red on the Baja switch (cause Baja switch has 2 red as well) and What did you do on the circuit from the battery to the light

For the hood bolts, why not remote one bolt, install the bracket with 1 bolt and just rotate the bracket to the next hole, per instructions?

      Good question.
I tried it and it wouldn't clear. The curve of the hood wouldn't allow any clearance to do that. Even if I tried 1 hole and loosely attach a bolt there's no way I could remove the other bolt.
I suspect the instructions are good for the 2nd gen and 4runners which there are videos to confirm that technique.
Having another set of hands would have resolved needing to do it my way which I don't recommend.

Rob Daman makes sense. I have a 4th gen 4Runner. I just watched your video again and noticed that large bulge. Keep on modding! Great and simple videos, Rob.

@@RobDaman my bad, i missed that but appreciate it! Have you had any issues since the video? Baja told me today I need to add a relay if using the Cali raised switch. But I don’t want to buy another harness or add a relay in if I don’t need to.

If they’re called ‘ditch lights.’ Why does no one point them at Ditch level?

what's good is they're adjustable. I ended up doing just that when it as pitch black at Joshua Tree. Amazing output for a little package.

Rob Daman awesome! My runner game with baja style lights. I turned the outside lights towards the ditch. An the two in front of the grill straight and up a bit. It’s perfect for now.

      Hi,
Unfortunately there's no way to do it one at a time like 2nd gen tacos or 4runners. The shape won't allow it.

Disappointing to see the wiring harness is not plug and play.

Ya. I think they weren't expecting it to be used as ditch lights or for a small vehicle.

Can you buy a longer harness that fits?

    • @RobDaman
      @RobDaman  5 років тому

Unfortunately no. You have to extend or make your own.
