Sick video! New to the channel so I cant wait to binge the old content. I have a question, what drysuit do you use and, does it break while you're off on adventures? If so, what do you fix it with?
Hello and welcome, Ross! I'm wearing a Level Six drysuit . I tend to put lots of little holes in the feet - haven't really NEEDED to have them patched them on trips yet, but at home I repair with a dot of seam grip. What I should really do is look on website and/or as Level Six what they recommend and if they have repair patches/kits. In a pinch, mid-trip, if I had a big tear, and didn't have time/materials to repair and cure overnight, I would probably use some duct tape both inside and out - though this might leave residue and be a bother when doing a more permanent repair later at home... I recently purchased neoprene socks from level six - next trip I will use them over the dry suit to try to protect the feet from all those tiny holes that happen. Just a beautiful river and always fun to watch all you guy's run rapids 👍 I really enjoyed your version of the trip with the high quality of filming & editing with music & bird identification. Great job 👏 👍 thanks so much for sharing this adventure with us ❤
Hello, how good these rapids are beautiful forests, the noise of the water relaxes me, what beautiful places and the names of the birds, oh very good 👍🌞🖐️
Thank you Adrian. I love the noise of water as well - it relaxes me. Lots of people find it difficult to sleep next to them - but for me the sounds are like a lullaby! Cheers and thank you for watching!
Those few seconds in the beginning.... and then the music intro. Glad yall made it in one piece! The camping and paddling around the bay at the end...what beautiful country yall have!
What an amazing trip! Those portages looked absolutely grueling. Even so, your video made me want to get out canoe tripping more badly than ever. Stunning video, Max! Thanks for taking us along (and for naming the cute little birdies).
GREAT VIDEO! Thanks for risking LIFE and To LENS to entertain us. You are really mastering the "Fourth Wall" with the viewer. I felt like I was right there in the excitement, comaraderie, cold smokey air, slippery rocks and stinky people. 🤪 And congratulations on no swearing in the video. 🙄 Wow, you did a lot of great camera work in extremely challenging lighting conditions. You must have been setting up shots constantly. I liked your transition from the moss close up to the drone shot of the tree tops that made me do a double take. Great laughs. I have not done any non-automated photography in a long time, but I bet that if you back away from your close-up objects then zoom in, you will improve your depth of field. Just an idea to experiment with. If leaks or getting chilled continues to be a problem, you could suppliment with a zip-up neoprene-vest , -hood or -gloves. Gloves mught provide some cushion against bangs and abrasions on your knuckles. I use thin peel and stick neoprene pads applied around my kayak paddle. For a non-slip padded grip. I would be interested in sourcing someting to improve slip resistance on water shoes. Please mention or link in a future video if you find something good. As always, I can't wait for the next video. 👍👍👍
haha definitely risking it with the camera. I have learned to mitigate as best as possible but the best shots are often at risky moments. Good call on the idea for depth of field on the macros. Sometime being so run and gun its hard to keep track of everything in your head. Oh well always getting better is the goal. I know Jim uses neoprene socks over his drysuit and I will try that in the future. I definitely have a few things to learn about not banging up my drysuit. Thanks Eileen!
@@maximbudnick I forgot that I also wanted to compliment you on the drone shot of the red canoe moving along the narrow ledge. The canoe really gave it a sense of scale, color and danger. Also, you are mastering stabilizing your center of gravity like a human gimbal and letting your canoe go with the flow. Well done.
@@maximbudnick Appreciate it! One day we'll have to do a river trip together. I'm really jealous about that Dog River trip... :) Type 2 fun at its best!
Quite the adventure. Lovely videography. I enjoyed the music, especially the piano/violin duet which was perfect for that moment. Stunning bird shots; flowers too. Thank you Maxim for your beautiful work. As always, your insights and commentary were excellent.
A very enjoyable video. Thanks for sharing Maxim. Your whitewater canoeing skills have improved immensely. Great to see you enjoying running rapids so much.
Bravo Maxim! You made a fantastic video of what may be the most technical water route in Ontario. The geography and wildlife are superb as is your drone footage. Most enjoyable canoeing wilderness video.
Wow! A spectacular adventure with an equally spectacular video to showcase it! Glad you challenged yourself a bit, must feel good to say you did rapids, even with a tip or three! As always, stunning natural videography as well! Water, moon, birds, landscape, allows us to see what you see and appreciate all your efforts even more. I also enjoy listening to your reflections about your trip.
Now that was really something Maxim!! Well done and what an achievement with great teamwork and individual effort. The choice of music and editing to complement the segments was great. Even though I am not a classical afficionado, the baroque music for the wave train at the end of the Dog River was a nice touch to reflect the vibe. Keep up the great filming and be safe:)
WOW , Good job guys , see ya all stuck close together through this one .. not to mention being with the Baird Brothers , ya did well .. the only one who was missing was Jon from lost lakes 😉.. Nice video .. filming ..bringing us along with yr adventure as seen through the camera eye... 👍
Hah yes it was quite the editing marathon! Very happy to hear you like the longer format - I really wasn't sure if people would respond well to it or if it was worth it....
Real good intro, liked the birds, I don’t see many of those, beautiful rocky river the drone shots really fit in well and gave good perspectives to the rapids. Thanks for all that tough travel, great trip
In the shot of you looking down at the (Denison?) falls in your bright red high tech dry suit, at about 1:15:00, it made me think that one of the first people to canoe that route probably stood right where you did wearing buckskin 🤔
Hey Alan! As you probably noticed, I love making those observations as well! There are certain spots where you just KNOW every person who has travelled through the area would have stood on that very spot. And when you know people have been passing through for almost 10000 years, it paints a pretty cool picture! Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks! Ya I do for longer rapids (I use a bungy) There was so much in and out that often I would not for expediency. Also when scouting I usually take one barrel and my camera case to the the end of the rapid to set up the shot out of principle I try not do any rapids with my camera gear:)
What an unbelievably amazing journey. You did such a wonderful job capturing and conveying the realism of the nature, danger, fun, adventure, and camaraderie that you experienced along the way. Thank you for taking us along.
Epic trip Max! I was out filming on Saturday and tripped and fell on a rocky area. Hit my head causing a brain bleed, 3 broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung. It was really nothing of a fall, but caused traumatic damage. I was lucky to get to a hospital by myself. Kept overnight and luckily released the next day. All to say, you and Xander please stay safe out there and enjoy. Take care man. Hope to run into you both someday. I'm in Ottawa.

Cool trip Max, the camping experience really translates through your lens. That kamikaze canoe is definitely going to spike the timeline, I watched it like 5 times.
I just did algonquin, Big Trout loop. Used the Merlin App really for the first true attempt. So many birds in there right now and picked up that Northern Parula on the app but never saw it. Really wanted to. That app is amazing in bug season....so many warblers, so many everything!! 5 AM in June is like a symphony, and nobody is in there. Too old for this trip though, but go get it!!!
Top-notch videography, as usual! And great story-telling, too. :) What struck me in this one was how hard you guys work on those portages "Just take a stroll through 'the woods' with a canoe. a food barrel, other stuff you need to keep from dying, plus all of those camera_cases/batteries/tripods on your back, and be all casual doing it." You guys are consummate professionals.

Watching the videos of this trip so far, has taken me through a gamut of emotions... anticipation, nervousness, happiness, etc. I swear, I could even feel the physical aspects of it. I felt tired, sore, energetic, adrenaline filled, pride from challenges that were accomplished! Thanks for taking us along! What a wonderful group of macho, macho men! 😀👍❤
hahaha so macho! thanks!
So far I've seen Xander's and Ted's version on this trip. And now this one and every one of them has been really great, You all show different things and you're excited about different parts.I love your footage of been in the water going down the water. It was wonderful. Looks like an amazing trip and it certainly is one of the most amazing rivers.I think you've ever gone down. Thanks so much for all the work you do and for sharing, What a great bunch of guys to travel with. God bless you❤
Just a beautiful river and always fun to watch all you guy's run rapids 👍 I really enjoyed your version of the trip with the high quality of filming & editing with music & bird identification. Great job 👏 👍 thanks so much for sharing this adventure with us ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for the uplaod! Great adventure folks!
My pleasure! Thanks for stopping by!
Love your choice of music. Beautifully curated and love how it doesn’t compete with the visual beauty you’ve captured in your video. Well done sir 👏🏼
Thanks! Selecting music takes a lot of time so I appreciate that!
I get it! I’ve been producing music for years so can definetely appreciate your choices. Next level buddy 👍🏼
Thanks! I am glad my video had that effect on you!
Wow, you did a lot of great camera work in extremely challenging lighting conditions.
Well done.
Scenery, adventure, editing, commentary, company, Beautiful!👀
Thank you very much!
excellent editing from the start and great story telling. Thanks for taking us along on your awesome trip.
Thank you, Ken! And thanks for stopping by
1:10 > Eddie Hopping music. Your video version was great. Keep it up!
You take some really amazing shots! Take 3.
Thank you for watching, Catal! Cheers!
Love it! Watched yours, Xander’s, and Jim’s. All great and very different story telling. Great cinematography!
Hey thanks a lot man! Really appreciate it. I have been watching and enjoying your stuff for a long time.
@@maximbudnick Appreciate it! One day we'll have to do a river trip together. I'm really jealous about that Dog River trip... :) Type 2 fun at its best!
Epic. Gonna save this one for tomorrow night.
Hey buddy thanks for the support. Hope you enjoy it
♥ I pray everything is OK with your eye. 🙏💜🙏
This channel is my happy corner 🙏
I look forward to the unexpected shots of pure beauty you are able to find and show us. Thank you!
My pleasure, Lana! Hope you found nature shots you liked :)
Quite the adventure. Lovely videography. I enjoyed the music, especially the piano/violin duet which was perfect for that moment. Stunning bird shots; flowers too. Thank you Maxim for your beautiful work. As always, your insights and commentary were excellent.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback! You are appreciated!
The pain for no fish...I could never..
Oh you just wait till later on...
@maximbudnick goodness man those clips of the canoe coming down hill and the biff down the slope...harsh stuff... was fishing just not a plan atall?
A very enjoyable video. Thanks for sharing Maxim. Your whitewater canoeing skills have improved immensely. Great to see you enjoying running rapids so much.
Many thanks Jay! I certainly improved on this trip.
Awesome guys and Awesome footage! Thanks for sharing this Awesome trip 👍🇺🇸🗽🇺🇸👍
The Vermonter
Thank you, Lambert. My pleasure to chare as always! Greetings from Canada!
Bravo Maxim! You made a fantastic video of what may be the most technical water route in Ontario. The geography and wildlife are superb as is your drone footage. Most enjoyable canoeing wilderness video.
Thanks Michael! The dog was incredible.
Love your videos, you capture the scenery, sounds everything! Good job Max!!❤️👍🇨🇦
Thank you, Lucy! Have a beautiful rest of your Sunday!
Thanks a lot for your feedback! it was a great trip🙂
Thanks a lot Mark! I appreciate the feedback on music ect. I appreciate your support!
Fantastic video. One of your best. Xander didn’t mention the muffler problem in his video. Must have been too embarrassed 😂😂
haha not at all. He just had to leave for another trip which he is on now and probably just cut some corners to push the video out.
WOW , Good job guys , see ya all stuck close together through this one .. not to mention being with the Baird Brothers , ya did well .. the only one who was missing was Jon from lost lakes 😉.. Nice video .. filming ..bringing us along with yr adventure as seen through the camera eye... 👍
Yes Jon would have been an amazing addition. Perhaps next year! Thanks for watching
Love the longer vid. I imagine this full journey was an incredible feat to edit.
Great content Maxim.
Hah yes it was quite the editing marathon! Very happy to hear you like the longer format - I really wasn't sure if people would respond well to it or if it was worth it....
From all the 3 videos/versions I've watched of this trip, yours is the most cinematic 👌 Beautiful shots nonstop.
Thank you, Adeline! That means a lot because I enjoyed the other videos as well! Thanks for stopping by!
Wooau! What an intrepid trip, crazy with so many rapids, a truly incredible trip thanks to everyone 👋🍺🍻
Hello, Adrian1 It really was an unforgettable trip! Thanks for watching
Real good intro, liked the birds, I don’t see many of those, beautiful rocky river the drone shots really fit in well and gave good perspectives to the rapids. Thanks for all that tough travel, great trip
Thanks, Bruce! Hope you've been having a nice week. Cheers!
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thank you very much!
Just starting the video. I had to stop it and comment on that intro. Dude, that is edited so perfectly. Love it. On with the show...
Same!
Absolutely loved watching this what an amazing trip❤
Thanks so much Lynda!
Great video! Be sure to tie your barrels and gear down in the canoe so it’s doesn’t shift. It will make compote stable and less dumping.
You are very welcome, it was my pleasure!
Subscribed when I saw you naming the birds. Thanks
Hello and welcome, Mika! Thank you for subscribing! Glad you liked the bird ids :) I'll continue to do that!
A-MAZing Video!!! ❤️❤️❤️Thank you
My pleasure, Cindy. Thank you for watching!
(1:15:47) That drone shot of Dennison falls was spectacular 👌
Thanks it really was!
Hi Max. well i guess i will not say something unique or new but it really was a great film. after watching it i have two thoughts: 1-all of you guys could easily win some strongman competitions :D 2-when i win in lottery i will definitely move to canada :).
ps-do you take with you 200-600 only or also 70-200?
cheers man!
Hey man thanks! sorry for the delay been a busy month. I bring both lenses with me as well as a 24 prime. When I buy more I will probably bring those along as well haha
@@maximbudnick its ok 🙂 i hope your back feels good 😅 best regards Max
I just drove the Superior circle tour. I love superior! Enjoyed the time in Canada saw my first moose and black bear. What a fun video - great job. Your smile lights up the forest 😊
Thank you for such a kind comment! Wow first time seeing a black bear and specially a moose... Very special! Aren't they beautiful?!
@@maximbudnick yes for sure. I’m in lower Michigan we have bear in the UP but never saw one. Still looking for the bull moose 🫎 with the big rack. Out here in Yellowstone now hoping for a safe grizz sighting too !
A Incredible Adventure
Thanks! it really was
Holy smokes Max! I’ve loved all your videos, but this is next level! Your cinematography is insane! Thanks for sharing this one.
Also, it was great meeting you the night before the trip out at NSA. Thanks for chatting with us and letting us hang with you guys around the fire!
Nice filming.Like beginning sequence.Love watching Jim.How got introduced you
Thanks! I appreciate that
♥ I loved watching this beautiful video!! ♥ Scared me when you fell 😬
Your photography is lovely... There is nothing more beautiful than a waterfall!!
Peace and blessings ♥ 🙏
Excellent thumb mate, well done!
Thanks brother! Been trying to put more effort into my thumbnails recently. Hope you are well!
@@maximbudnick I don't blame you mate they are SO important! All is well here thank god 🙂 Keep on adventuring!
Classic Xander moment where he jinx his own misfortune. A certified Xander moment in fact. I get the feeling he’s done this before…perhaps in his childhood.
Certified Xander moment INDEED haha
Fantastic as always. What an awesome adventure.
Thank you, Rita! Hope you had a great weekend. Cheers
How can I say this without blushing 🤔 this video was like a never ending orgasm ! Thanks Max
Haha thanks Bon Pecheur! Glad you REALLY enjoyed it! :D
@@maximbudnick 😉
Cool trip Max, the camping experience really translates through your lens. That kamikaze canoe is definitely going to spike the timeline, I watched it like 5 times.
I just did algonquin, Big Trout loop. Used the Merlin App really for the first true attempt. So many birds in there right now and picked up that Northern Parula on the app but never saw it. Really wanted to. That app is amazing in bug season....so many warblers, so many everything!! 5 AM in June is like a symphony, and nobody is in there.
Too old for this trip though, but go get it!!!
Excellent video Max ~ loved it & is one of the best we’ve seen.
Thank you again, Lori. You are too kind. Glad you enjoyed it!
Is there will be 5 different movies about this trip, from 5 different youtubers ? EPIC.
Maxim your cinematography, Timing and what you share is awesome. Loved all the video of being you in the boat on the river.Such wonderful shots. And you really did do a great job coming down those. I think.
This was a real epic trip and video and you shared it so amazing. Really like the music that you pick as well As the commercial lottery between all of you You are four of my favorite people that I have followed the longest, Only one missing is jon from lost lakes. Like the new guys too. They'll be fun to get to know. You guys being blessed, And I.
Will surely look forward to the next time❤ by the way i'm a seventy four year old grandma who lives in portland oregon and loves to camp. Blessings
Love the content but, an upgrade on your filming equipment would knock it out of the park 😊 Seemed very grainy missing the ultimate beauty you're trying to bring to your subscribers. Stay brave and keep surviving...
We have watched the other guys films, or some of them. Your photography is just outstanding, your details, little birds, water, rocks, the moon. Just great! I subscribed and look forward to your other adventures,
I just subscribed your Channel.. got your yt from your brother Xander.. you both have a great adventure. Love it🙏❤️
Max, great videography. And can I thank you again for naming the birds, a great boon for a non Canadian.
Keep making them and I'll watch them!
Great images. Love that you’re paying attention to (and giving an ID) for the warblers. I enjoy your short video “portraits” of water, plants and people. Respects the place and sets a context for the action.
Yeah Maxim!! What a trip! Can't wait to watch it all. Tell Xander that 4runner is a gem 😉. Are you portaging in Altra shoes? I love wearing mine with tall waterproof socks
