      If you can find a soundhole cover that works with the Mag 6 that would be a cheap fix for any feedback you're experiencing.
      If you're looking for a high pass filter, the ParaEq Mk2 would work. If you're comfortable soldering or doing a DIY project you could save a ton of money by building a VFE Pinball Tilt EQ. You could also buy a premade Pinball on Reverb for less than the Para. The high pass on either of these might take care of the low end feedback you're getting.

    I dislike graphic EQs but love parametric EQs. They come in handy when playing in different rooms to work out any sonic issues by pinpointing the exact frequency that needs adjusting. I just ordered this pedal to see if it beats my current parametric eq pedal.

      @shoetiquemusic Hello. Great vid. 👍 Can you please help me. I'm just a bedroom warrior with my gear at the moment. I have the Redseven The Dirt amp. I have an ESP George Lynch custom shop guitar. I use a very nice and smooth sounding overdrive. I have a great 80's metal tone that I like very much. But sometimes I feel like I want the option at time to have a more aggressive modern metal tone. Would that be best achieved by adding an aggressive distortion pedal. Or, get an eq pedal. Or, get a treble booster? Thank you.

    Also, I use a boss ge7 on my new Rockerverb mkiii. The pedal is noisy have considered a mod to fix that. The amp sounds great but really opens up with an eq in the loops especially when playing at bedroom levels. The tweakability on this looks insane, and makes more sense than getting another overdrive pedal. Interesting about your quality issues with the first unit as I also own an echosystem that has faulty led indicators on the digital modes, customer service were very helpful and offered to exchange but I haven’t wanted to part with the pedal, I use it that often. Anyway great demo and explanation will probably get this.

    I've been trying to talking myself out of it but your video really helped me realize I do need one. Contrary to what you said, i want it for tone shaping on all of my guitars and yes, this does have the power to do exactly that and especially the clean sound a great deal. I was skeptical, spent about an hour with it on a Strat, Tele, and Gibson LP Traditional and this pedal had the power to make a Tele sound muddy and my LP Traditional like a rich Strat.....yes, the pickups are '59 reissue HBs on the LP but it gave me more of what I liked from the pickups on all 3 guitars. Recording? I do not like adding this area of tone shaping after playing......I want to hear what will be recorded while I am playing. I will not be using it live for the reasons you mentioned and a few more. However, the ParaEQ does far more to the "character" of my tone the 3 dials on my amp AND really is the secret to getting more of what one likes from their pickups. I was comfortable that I knew how to use it very well in less than an hour. It will be my next purchase.

    Did I hear right, that the metal looking knob feels cheaper than the plastic looking knob? How's that? I was thinking about getting one of the previous versions, the para eq with boost, it's the one that is a little bigger and has the little switches on top instead of the little black knobs, and inputs on the sides instead of the top. I know that version you can't quite control the frequency range as precisely but i like the shape better and the price. I figured for my needs it would work just as well.

    • @shoetiquemusic
      @shoetiquemusic  5 місяців тому +1

      Hey bottom kitchen! It's not the knobs themselves that feel cheap - it's the potentiometers they're attached to. I think this thing is a good enough EQ but there are better ways to fix your tone. If you decide to go with a Para EQ I'm sure that the OG will be more than capable. Full disclosure - I returned my Para EQ II and never thought about getting an EQ pedal ever again.

  • @masterofreality230
    @masterofreality230 Рік тому +2

    I mostly use my Mk 1 Paraeq for shaping high gain tones on my real amp (Mesa Mark V 25), but since I figured out how to run my fx loop send into my interface, I could just as easily use something like ProQ 3 or something. I think its cool that they made this pedal, but I dont know where it really fits in. If you are in a studio, you have plugins, and if you are playing out, it may be a bit too complicated to really use.

    • @shoetiquemusic
      @shoetiquemusic  Рік тому +1

      That's actually a pretty neat idea using a plugin inside your FX loop! How is the latency with that?
      I too have difficulty understanding what problem this solves which upgrades to other gear wouldn't take care of. Full disclaimer - I don't have this pedal anymore because I couldn't find a use case for it!

    • @masterofreality230
      @masterofreality230 Рік тому +2

      @@shoetiquemusic The latency is not bad at all if you are just going guitar>amp>fx loop send>interface. What is really cool is if you use the Two notes Wall of Sound plugin, you can run your tube amps preamp into it and try different power amps and also different IRs of course. Another thing is that I can turn of my speaker on my particular amp, so it works out perfect, other amps you may need to find a way to deal with that.
      Now if you are trying to run into your interface then back out to the effects loop to use plugins out of your cab its going to double latency. Its quite a bit more noticeable.

    • @shoetiquemusic
      @shoetiquemusic  Рік тому +1

      @@masterofreality230 That makes sense! For some reason in my head I had completed the loop all the way through your amp's FX return in your original post 😅. I'll have to take a crack at this once I build an FX loop into my amp! I plan on doing something with the Trinity Amps Tube FX Loop in the near future.

    I'm intrigued on using it with synths in a home studio setting. Do you think that's an appropriate use case?

    • @shoetiquemusic
      @shoetiquemusic  Рік тому +2

      If you're going to be recording at home I think there are better options. The Para EQ is very functional and clean but it doesn't really impart any color on your signal. There's nothing magical about this EQ. It's a very functional piece of gear best suited for a live setting. If you're open to plug ins I think something like the Fab Filter Pro Q will give you better, more repeatable results at less than half the cost of the MKII Deluxe.

      @indigosnow_ Рік тому +2

      @@shoetiquemusic neat. thanks.
      I thought I heard you say it wasn't that useful in a live setting unless you had a solid soundcheck but yea, I'll look into cheaper eq's for the utility needs.

    2.5khz and 4khz cut to tame vintage 30 harsh spike in high gain distortion.
