- Опубліковано 5 лип 2023
- John Bohlinger demos the new ParaEq MKII Deluxe from Empress Effects. A successor to Empress Effects' original parametric EQ pedal, the Deluxe version adds fully variable bandwidth controls, low-pass and high-pass filters, and Baxandall low- and high-shelf filters for control and fidelity.

The high and low pass filters are more useful than most average guitar players know.. Can tune any amp or recording set up.
Wow you must be above average
@@xb5883 Yes, Most guitarist probably have not worked in music production, pro studios, mixed or mastered songs.. So yes, most average guitar players may not know the power of equalization, especially high and low pass filter and its many purposes.. Have you ever been in a guitar store? Mr. Not average guitar player, but comments for Zero Purpose.. I'm not average whats your point fembot?
It's the most versatile pedal I own, it makes everything old sound new again and turns the great to exceptional. Every guitar and bass player should own one.
Are you familiar with the regular version? Is it worth the save on money.
@@Etomic-A-NewFound-project the regular version can work fine, I went for the deluxe for its added features.
Just took one today
@@Etomic-A-NewFound-project it can do the job, just without the enhanced tone shaping features.
I'd like to just hang out . . . jam-with, and talk "Music Gear" with John - he really enjoys music.
I know right that's how I feel about him he seems so inviting and he has this relaxed swagger type of style you know the reviewer is good when you are sad it's only a 9-minute-long video I wish PG would give him more time for demo videos they sure give him a ton of time for other guitar players gear/rig videos.
Beautiful tone on that Gibson!
Nice finish on the Little Wing! Cheers, Daniel
Such a good player!
Better than a whole bunch of the guitarists he interviews!
Les Paul got me again. I just cant not click on a video with an lp on the picture. Its the ultimate clickbait for me. I love Johns work, grest guy.
Thank you for the great review, would love to see a Ibanez pentatone preamp vs empress paraeq deluxe
Looking at mk2 for a while , told me what I need to know . Thx
That goldtop...soooooooo gorgeouuuuuuuuuuus !
How did you power the pedal? I know from experience that some pedals can be fussy about their needed power input. Did you use a dedicated wall plug just for the pedal? Was it run from a power supply? Which one? 9v or 18v power needed? I have an MXR 10 band eq and that opened up completely new worlds of tone for me. This thing looks like starting over again, but in a good way.
Thanks
I have an amp without a presence knob, can this pedal help to add this feature with the shelving adjustments?
If that gold top had P 90s it'd be David Gilmours guitar he used on another brick in the wall part 2.
Cool
he got that tone from a partially cocked Wah pedal! :)
I wonder if you can get the same guitar tone as B.G. got on Eliminator ???
love that tone. Gold standard.
Not positive, but I think I heard that was DI clean tone.
Is it different than any other EQ, at 1/3 the price?
I always come here to hear the toys and leave depressed that I can't play.
Why not take lessons? Worked for me.
@@MOAB-UT I did for years. Still not as good as John.
@@daveclinton4945 Ok, gotcha. Not many are as good as John. Look into Zombie Guitar. Brian is really good too. If there are any areas you are looking to improve in, he will cover it. I am doing his 12 week program on finding all the notes on the fretboard- automatically, at a glance. It's a unique approach e.g., he has you learn all the notes in a C Major Chord so the Triad is C, E, G and C Minor Chord. You find all of those notes week one. Week 2 is C# major and so on- all keys (12 weeks.) To compliment this I am also learnings I am also doing the online less with Jack Ruch- he teaches how to play the chord changes by knowing the Triads. If you have any good resources that show all the triads, please let me know! I know it's basically CAGED but a reference would be helpful. This is the video that got me interested in learning this. ua-cam.com/video/Hv1aIHwmdYQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=BrettPapa
I like this pedal but I love my GE 7 too much to replace it
I have also the ge7 but its too noise. You have also that problem?
Getting the most out of an already heavily modified LP with EQ taken to the nth degree.
Too screechy
