This is so comforting to me as a new UA-cam creator. Two thoughts that have helped me the most are: just give it a 70% effort that’s good enough for now. And while “consistency is key” you can stop filming for a little while. The key is to pick it back up and try again. And again. Remember you are putting value out in the form of a video playlist. In two months someone who starts watching your videos will not care if you posted every week. Just keep swimming friend 😅

Being a UA-camr is very similar to running your own business. You should upload things people want to see, just like businessman should offer product/service that people need. And when the growth becomes real, you can consider hiring people to help you run your channel more efficiently. The most difficult part is starting and growing of course, but consistency and hard work (with a little bit of help from Fame -ster of course) will always pay off at the end.

After slowly getting out of my postpartum depression, and with 150 subscribers and about 5 of those actually leave comments, it gets very hard to keep going when you feel like no one is there. Barely any growth, and barely any interaction can really be hurtful towards self-esteem.. my dream for years has been to reach 1,000 subscribers and become monetized. This video could not have come out at a better time because I am so afraid of posting the first video for all the reasons you mention; fear of failing, insecure, embarrassed to put myself out there, I'm too old to start a UA-cam channel, etc. My list is endless but you're very motivating and yes, you do indeed come across as absolutely natural. :-) Keep doing what you're doing and sharing with the rest of us "newbies".

I've been deeply studying social marketing, especially youtube, for about a year now but haven't started filming due to several reasons and am about to start a professional coaching program to get the tools and skill needed a little faster, but there's no question, we have to practice. Something people often say with content creation is "you only get one chance to make a good first impression." That has kind of thrown me, what if I don't make a great first impression when I'm still learning? Just have to trust the process. Thanks Katie for your down to earth teaching, very much appreciated!

I’ve always wanted a YT channel but it always felt like too much work, and I’m kind of overwhelmed by the idea and not sure what my videos would look like. How do you figure out what other people want to see?
After seeing this video and a video from Unjaded Jade, I think I should revisit the idea. Why not? I’m a graphic design student going into my last year of uni, and a few months ago I had a real change in my attitude towards my exams. Maybe it would help others to hear what I have to say so they won’t have to learn it the hard way like I had to.

Even as someone who’s started a channel just needs a little motivation to keep going - I knew this video would be valuable! Thanks so much for giving permission to be a “wannabe” or to strive for something that you’re not at yet 😂
There is a lot of shame about it. I also hate feeling like people think I’m full of myself because I want to grow on UA-cam… but hey - only we know what our true mission is! Thank you so much for the video Katie. I needed this one.💙

Love your videos 🙂Can you do a file management video, like how you easily find clips to insert from old videos without taking hours looking for them. I know you have done one with B-roll etc but maybe a more detailed video on how to find all the clips in the most efficient way (if that makes sense)

Thank you for this video! I started my UA-cam Channel Dec 2023 and I wish I started sooner! I already reached 100 subscribers! What’s cool about UA-cam, you can leverage the editing skills for corporate roles! I work as system admin but I plan to apply to a developer advocate role or SR learning. Experience designer or enablement role
