Have the same pistol. Main spring housing is plastic so I changed it. The Wilson plug and flat wire will fit and really flattens it out more. Better thumb safety fitment than my 1,200 dollar colt competition plus two tone. Won’t lie mine had some stoppages during the first 500 but now it’s flawless.
It blows my mind that Kimber would willingly put plastic for the mainspring housing. I had to replace one for an individual not long ago. Replaced it with a steel Wilson Combat version.
I actually picked up the TBM9 variant. 100 percent reliable! Kimber has corrected the quality control issues it appears. I was hoping I would not be disappoint and I was not. Good vid by the way!
I have so much distrust for Kimber after the disaster that was my Desert Warrior. I wish Kimber would acknowledge the slip of quality and tell us what they've done to correct it. This is a beautiful gun. I really hope it's built to last, otherwise it would be a real shame. Now that Dan Wesson has discontinued the Vigil, this is the only option that I'm aware of for a production-level lightweight 9mm 5" barrel 1911. If you ever come back to this comment section and have been regularly shooting with this gun, could you give us an update on how it's doing? I want to believe in the Kimber quality.
I've had one for a few years now and the only problem I've had was for a little while I was having a hard time getting the first round to load about 30% of the time. It started around the 700 round mark until I made it to about 900 rounds. Then I got a new recoil spring and the problem went away immediately. This pistol is amazing it just needs a new recoil spring more quickly than other 1911s I've had. They aren't expensive or anything but now since I carry it sometimes I just replace it every 500 rounds. They're like $7.
My Kimber TLE2 works now perfect. It had problems in the first 350 rounds, now 6000 rounds later not a single malfunction. The fit is excellent but the black coating is verry bad. I did a ceracote finish.
"Tight and right!" Young Beretta, June 16th, 2021..... How can it be that this gun is coming in under any Ruger 1911 I can find anywhere these days? Wow. Thanks for the video gentlemen.
When I see another of your 1911 reviews, I can't click fast enough. My example of this fine gun is in FDE. All of my Kimbers have been great. Paid $599.00. BTW, just joined up on Patreon. Let's support this channel, tons of great unbiased content, especially for us 1911 folks.
Wow, that's a lot of pistol at a great price! I also appreciate that it's a full size, govt. model, but in a lightweight configuration. I think need to find one of these in my local area...
Love a 5" 1911 in 9mm. Feels like cheating after shooting a commander .45. front sight seems to drop straight back down while .45 will have a bit of wobble before getting the sights back in alignment.
Excellent videos you two do a thorough review of your hand guns I use your reviews when I buy my guns. If you can review the taurus 1911 in either the 9mm or 45acp that would be great thanks. Happy holidays mike.
Aluminum still has a Solid feel to it, but a Stainless Steel 1911 would always be stronger if you can take/Carry the 42 Oz weight. This Aluminum Government Size is about 8 or 10 ounces lighter, and with a 9mm it is no issue at all. On 45ACP 1911 Pistols, I would keep the Round Count much lower if it has an Aluminum Frame. Practice with 100 or 150 rounds 3 or 4 times a year. Full Steel or Stainless Steel 1911’s you can shoot 400 or 500 rounds a year 4 or 5 times a year if you really wanted to. I hope all this information helps you a little bit. 😎🤠👍🇺🇸😻🥃 Respectfully, B9USA Sr.
I bought one of these low end budget production Kimbers for $660.00 and was very impressed. Only had it a few weeks so only have right at 400 rounds through it without a single malfunction. After 200 rounds I did polish it but it ran fine before that. The thumb safety when pressed down is totally soild, no sponge feel at all that I have on $1400. EMP's. I like it.
Picked up that same model today but this one is in 45 and the frame is a dark gray and yep same super tight fit on slide to frame grip safety and manual safety did your gun come dirty in the box because mine did it was so dirty the feed ramp was black after i cleaned the frame the feed ramp was polished which a nice thing since the frame is aluminum and the grips are rubber also not wood like yours
I just bought the 45 acp version with a threaded barrel today. The threads match my suppressor. 950 dollars out the door. Why .45acp? Most 230 grain is sub-sonic so in my opinion it is a better caliber if you intend to shoot suppressed.
Kimber is always hit or miss. My Kimber Custom Eclipse ii was the most beautiful and priciest 1911 I ever purchased and it always had 1 or 2 failures shooting a 50 round box of anything. A springfield GI I bought just based off how cool it looked shot circles around that eclipse. After owning a handful of them I've got this belief that Kimber is just there to look cool open carry in that leather holster you waited 6 months to be custom made for you.
Just purchased one of these new from Sportsman’s, and it does not have a full length guide rod. I’m wondering if they made changes to the model, or if mine was a fluke.
I just got finished looking at this gun on their website (Kimber's) and while I watched the entirety of your video, I don't recall if this was mentioned or not. This gun is listed as a "limited time special offering."
Got this for $625 then sold it to buy a the Rapide Dawn....The Kimber complaint I have is the lack of magazines they give you..smh..other than that, no ftf or fte yet..

HA HA HA! Kimber, like many gun manufacturers is leaving a blue cesspool. Bye Bye NY! My Kimber Stainless II was made there and I love her. But I appreciate Kimber making a smart decision and leaving gun-hating NY behind. For the record, I have a .45 and I believe it's more manageable than the Springfield Garrison 1911 chambered in 9mm that I had before it (the Springfield is still good, though). A .45's recoil is a big push back rather than a jumping muzzle which makes it easier to keep follow-up shots on target. The recoil is stronger, but more manageable. Maybe it's just me. Either way, why not go with the .45? It's America's caliber!
@@BERETTA9mmUSA oooh ok lol. I wanted the Springfield range officer 9mm but they discontinued it. This looks like a great gun so was curious why the title said that. I'm definitely going to look into this one. Highly reliable and great price.
Thanks for the video. Bass was running a special on this pistol in stainless for $595. Being retired military I got an extra 5% off. Love it !
