I was just talking with my neighbor and had a good conversation that led to prayer. In the midst I asked if he had a Bible. He said he did, but did not read it very often, but he wanted to start. I then told him that I would purchase him one. I found out that his current Bible is a KJV and his favorite color is yellow. Oh boy! He has a surprise coming. I purchased him a yellow Humble Lamb NKJV Bible. I can't wait to gift it to him...
I appreciate this product so much on video, I can imagine they're incredible in person. So many precise and elegant features. Thanks for the thorough review.
I really dig the complimentary contrasting colors that they're using on these Bibles, it's unreal❕ I've never seen this before how innovative and artistic... 😮🎉 ✝️👑
Thank you for this video! Finding this on UA-cam is what drove me to place an order with Humble Lamb. The edge-lined Shepherd is absolutely perfect. It's been a while since I held a Bible that I really didn't want to put down. Thanks for your efforts to show us some of the more incredible bindings of God's word!
I got the Lunar yellow for my personal use. I love it! Easy to read, love the words of Christ in blue. I bought 2 blue and green paste off art lining to gift for Christmas
I purchased the Red and the Yellow Bibles. I absolutely love these Bibles. I love everything about them, I agree with you…I love the feel of the paper and the print they used and the blue letter text sets this Bible apart. I am really pleased with both of them❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nice to hear and see a review by Mr. Tim Wildsmith for humble lamb. This is a beautiful bible. The content is well written and easy to understand. Thank Mr. Wildsmith.
Thanks so much for this review. I’ve got the Sahara Blue in the edge-lined, fore-edge gilt. I’m sorry they didn’t send you one with the usual art gilt for comparison. The Lunar yellow bible with the black under gold art gilding looks amazing on their site. Agree with you about the beauty of the interior - so well laid out and so easy to read. Also while it is a thickish bible, I find it is easy to carry and use. I also like the maps - not so glossy as some. 😊🇦🇺
I'm not too big on premium bibles, but I do appreciate how they do a single-column and paragraph style. And illustrations (especially by Gustove Dore) always a plus. And that picture that appears on the edge really surprised me, I think I've seen pictures of that on old books, but I don't recall any modern bibles that does that, so that's pretty cool. Words of Jesus in blue has been done before, but it looks really interesting here, its fitting here.
Really like this bible; however, two things would make it better: 1) Having the references printed on the inner margin (or even at the bottom of the page) rather than the outer margin - so the bible text is pulled out of the seam. 2) Printed and bound at Royal Jongbloed or an equivalent printer/binder - wish there was a USA option😞. Thanks for a great review; it's a beautiful bible!
Thank you, Tim, for another great Bible review. I used the link you provided for Humble Lamb to order the Amethyst Shepherd. Loved the features and typeset layout with classic Dore illustrations. I enjoy your channel and find your reviews so helpful.
May I inquiry, how has the past down liner held up after 2 years? I'm considering purchasing one of them while supplies last as it is much more affordable.
I have the Lunar Yellow NKJV Shepherd Edged Line and I absolutely love it!! I nicknamed it The Tweety Bird lol. I also have Humble Lambs Nkjv Word of God Bible in black with cardinal red art guild it's there very first edition, I got print number 54 and I love it, it has got by far the softest goatskin cover out of any premium Bible I've ever bought. And great job on the review 👍 I loved it! God bless!
Absolutely love those Bibles. I’m going to order one or two for myself and maybe some family members. God bless you and your family. I really enjoy your videos. Duane.
I want this one in yellow so bad. But it's a weird value prop compared to a couple others with non china print, european paper, edge lining standard and discounted to a price point between the edge line and pasted version of humble lamb. That's where I get hung up on this one. Still, I love that it's an independent publisher and the setup is unique for sure.
On the Humble Lamb’s website it looks like they also have a KJV option with a Lion on the 4 point gilding. They also have several different leather color options. Put myself on their wait list for a KJV. What a stunning Bible!!
Tim, I am looking at both the Shepherd and HIStory... I LOVE the HIStory way more, for the drop caps, all of the art, the size, but I am hesitant to order bc of the errors. I emailed them and 2nd edition will come out end of this year. I am not very patient, LOL! What would you do... go with the Shepherd or spend on the HIStory even with the errors? I ordered the Shepherd... it will be here Friday. Tempted to order the HIStory to compare and send back one I don't like as much. Are they good about returns?
I love this Bible and the Lion the most of all I've seen on this channel. I'm Catholic tho and pray some day they make a Catholic Bible like this. The closest is the illustrated NRSV Catholic Bible. But I really dont like that translation.
I only found out about these recently. Really good looking Bibles. Also, the words of Jesus Christ being in blue, it doesn't CONTRAST so much with the black, so maybe that will result in less thinking that the words of Christ can be used to overturn other Scripture 🤷♂️ Humble Slam? Now I have the mental image of a lamb with a luchador mask wrestling people 😆
Could you do a comparison of the ESV Study Bible and the new ESV Concise Study Bible? I cannot find information on what kind of things are left out or reduced in the Concise. Thanks!
As someone who has the Shepard lamb the quality doesn’t line up with the price. I purchased the gold-edge and forge art gilt. The gilt rubbed off too much on my fingers. It didn’t feel like an $220 bible. Upon sharing my concerns with customer service I got no reply. After finally reaching them they started off response by using my first name. Since it’s my first premium bible I had no idea. Recently purchased an Allen primer which was around same price. Let me tell you THAT is worth it. You can feel the difference easily. Gilding barely rubbed off on my fingers. I understand humble lamb is a family business whereas the Allen isn’t. Yet why do the cost nearly EXACTLY the same?
There’s a lot of factors that go into price… design, materials, manufacturing, licensing, shipping, marketing, and more. By the way, Allan is a family business. Not a very big operation at all. But they’ve been around for a loooonnng time.
I've been debating between this and the Schuyler Quentel. I love the blue letter idea and the single column format but I worry the font is to small for my aging eyes. I have a Spirit Filled Life Bible that's a struggle to read because of the font size. Do you know if the Shepherd print is bigger then the Spirit Filled Life Bible? Either way another fantastic review brother.
Hi Phillip. I’ve got the Spirit Filled Life Bible and the Humble Lamb. The Humble Lamb interior is much cleaner and easier to read. The Spirit Filled is also a study bible so it has lots of visuals on the pages and is two column design with references in the middle - at least mine is. You’ll find the Humble Lamb page very clean, uncluttered and easy to read by comparison. One other great thing - the Humble Lamb has wider line spacing. Humble Lamb have deliberately given a wider space between the lines which increases readability and clarity. I’ve got two Schuyler Bibles and the Humble Lamb is a cut above for readability- IMO. But as they’re both premium Bibles you’ll need to decide for yourself of course. I did take a photo of a page from the Spirit Filled Bible and one from the Humble Lamb but not sure how to load them. Perhaps someone can tell me. However the Humble Lamb website has interior shots as does the Schuyler site. Bottom line - the Humble Lamb is far more readable than the SFL and this is enhanced by the clarity of font and wider line spacing. I also think it is easier on the eye than the Schuyler. But this is my opinion only. They are both beautiful Bibles so you can’t really go wrong. 🇦🇺😊
@@sandracoombs2255 I'm happy to see your comment! I was deciding too on the humble lamb or Schuyler. Same size text as Schuyler Quentel? Not on my two copies. Definitely much thinner and smaller. Quentel looks like Jumbo print compared to this Sheppard.

nice Bible; but i'm not sold on the paper quality. I think I'm just spoiled from the turquoise and Canterbury. 😅
I thought the paper was pretty good, but you may be right that the “super premiums” tend to spoil us a bit.
@@timwildsmith I was referring to the level of ghosting or see-through compared to the ones with the titanium oxide in the paper.
What is the material used for the paste down liner? It looks like paper on video
I believe they use a synthetic liner for the paste-down editions and a leather liner for the edge-lined ones.
Same size text as Schuyler Quentel? Not on my two copies. Definitely much thinner and smaller. Quentel looks like Jumbo print compared to this Sheppard.
Same typeface... not the same size. This is a 9pt and the Quentel is 11pt.

This or Quentel for readability?
Both are highly readable and use the same typeface. It’s more of a typesetting decision, and that’s personal preference.
It says 1 1/2 inch think but it easily looks 2 inches
very nice but it is only for those with money not for everyone its said that Gods word is so expensive
Why did they go with "The Word of God" instead of Holy Bible?
I don’t know.

There are some Bibles out there that do larger, bolder verse numbers if that's what you prefer!
