I have the Lion with Sahara Blue cover and it is, what I consider, my "premium" Bible. It's absolutely beautiful and I cherish it dearly. :)

Really nice review. Has everything you'd want to know about the quality of materials, layout, and that ivory colored paper, wow! Of course, I'd spend the first week to a month getting distracted playing with "Shepherd" on the right, now "Shepherd" on the left! Love Humble Lambs amazing art gilding. It's just fascinating. Thanks for the links too!

Thank you for another outstanding review Randy on that purple and gold LSU themed Humble Lamb NKJV 😇. I especially appreciate and enjoy your comparisons to other Bibles in the same category.

It is rare to find a bright pink premium bible. I’m excited about that. Getting the rose gold for Xmas this year!

Of the all the various reviews I have watched on this bible (well, actually mainly the yellow which I am partial to) yours is the only one that has mentioned these are the cross reference system is the Thomas Nelson and the translator's notes are the reduced set. So helpful. Thank you. I have the Cambridge Clarion which once again shines in its features - not as snazy a premium but so good and comes with an index for the maps (though I like the more graphic simple style in the Humble) and from the look of it the Clarion has the more comprehensive concordance and -- the form factor is so portable yet has that bigger bible page block feel. All that said, if I can ever afford the yellow, edge lined, art gilt (black under gold!), blue letter (!♥), Doré illustrated, Humble Lamb aesthetic, well, I'm going to have to cave and get it. I mean!

Thanks Owen! That yellow does look amazing. It was actually my first choice, but it wasn't available.

Question: How does this 32GSM paper compare to typical 36GSM premium Bible paper, such as used by Thomas Nelson or Zondervan in their premium Bibles? In the comparison with the Thomas Nelson Bible, the show through looks worse in the Humble Lamb, which makes sense at a lower GSM, however, the thickness of the paper is not the only consideration when evaluating Bible paper, thus my question.

I received my first Humble Lamb on Saturday and my initial thoughts leave me a bit underwhelmed. It is a beautiful bible with a unique design. The goatskin is a bit stiffer and dryer feeling than the leather used on other premium bibles. The font size they chose is slightly small for a bible of this overall size and could have been increased without throwing off the overall page layout. The paper is a bit rougher to the touch than most other premiums. I feel like if this bible were priced around $165 to $175 it would make a very compelling alternative to the big three, but at $220, I do NOT find it to be in the same league as Schuyler, Cambridge or Allan, and it feels like a bit of a missed opportunity.

I agree that Humble Lamb have not entered the premium bible niche at all, having had the paste off red Lion before changing the terribly twisted ribbons to good green ones, and used lanolin several times on that harsh leather, before selling it on eBay! I have reviewed the unboxing inpressions then the new ribbons and cleaned up leather in my channel, btw. I was underwhelmed by HL in almost every way...the blue text on the Lion was worse to read than red.

Do you have a preference on nkjv reader bibles you like the most? I have the Crossway heritage and the TN readers you showed. Was thinking of checking out Humble Lamb or Cambridge Clarion. I’m kinda torn on those.

Those are excellent options. I'm a Clarion fan. I like the portability, so I always go with smaller Bibles. The Humble Lamb does have a better reading experience because of the extra space in the text. If you're reading at a desk or table, I'd go with the HL. If you want to carry it everywhere, I'd go with the Clarion.

@@Mark-b8b9s Yeah thats a downside for Humble Lamb. But I did have a purple Humble Lamb in the past and will say, text block is outstanding. Quality is probably similar to a Thomas nelson premier. Which means it's "ok".

Oh the black with the purple under gold art gilt on the old one... My favorite combination. Have you ever seen, or know if they made that combination on any of their KJVs?

I haven't seen that combination. The only one I've seen with purple gilt has a purple cover.

@@JG4AU the overall size is about the same, with the Stridon being a hair thinner. The Strdon's leather is more flexible and its paper is a lot smoother. The opacity is about the same. The font in the Stridon is larger and darker.

What a beautiful Bible. Paper looks so nice with that ivory color. The binding and how they placed the text on the page, good on the flat part, looks perfect (if one prefer single column). I see one other viewer commenting on dry leather. From the video it also seems a little dry. Same time I register that you don’t mention this at all. Is it just a matter of taste? To be a bit critical to a beautiful Bible, and I expect many to disagree with this, I find the full size image of Jesus as a shepherd on the fore edge to look a little home made in a way. The former image of the lion looked majestic and artistic. I don’t find this to hit a home run in the same way. Great idea though. Just wish the image blew me more away.

The leather is stiffer than many other goatskin leathers that I've seen. Maybe that's what they're referring to. We could be using two different ways to describe the same thing. Just a guess, though.

@@BibleBuyingGuide Yes. Anyway a good idea and achievement to make the cover stiffer and more stable with thicker leather and liner instead of cardboard.
