Vince trashes on Edgar Markov for being an edgy vampire, but he's been 21 for 154 years.
Yeah but the real question is does he now realise he's a millennial this year? XD
The big difference is: Vince drank from the milky fountain of youth and then used his immortality to bless us with his presence. Vampires are undead emos who steal our girls because they sparkle in the sun.
@@lokidragon8725 Millennials are people who grew up around the millennium, not people born at that time (those are Gen-Z). Millennials are about 25-35ish, give or take a couple of years, but definitely not younger than 23.
Edit - Sorry to be a debbie downer on your joke, btw, but it's not meant as an insult; I was just explaining because it is a much misunderstood term (which is totally fair as it IS confusing).
Edgar was like 60 when he became a vampire a few thousand years ago
VampireKenobi confirmed
Golos is just the "I have a lot of cards and want to put them all in a commander deck" deck
yo honestly facts, when i built mine i just put in alot cards that i wanted to build other decks out of. turns out playing zacama and yarok and new omnath together is insanely fun
literally, i built 5 wheel/discard because i wanted to put Xyris and Nekusar in the same deck and what do you know Golos is the best commander to support them
37 lands, about 20 ramp spells and the rest... really doesn't matter, does it?
@@Nosferat_AN kenrith might be a good option too, ive wanted to make that exact same deck. kenrith can get them back with his black ability and force other people to draw with his blue ability
@@NeophilusSubcult i love my golos deck, but i can understand how certain big stuff piles can be frustrating. kinda similar to jodah but with less resilience. i dont have any eldrazi or extra turn spells which i feel like are the most salt inducing things
Vince talking shit about popular cards for 20 minutes is quickly becoming my favorite type of video.
PK has to constantly remind us that he's a simultaneous grumpy old boomer and barely of-age teenager.
_But he's only 21_
It’s probably why he has such a wide appeal.
@@Eric_The_Cleric He’s been “only 21” for about 2 years now
@@MWorl91 he's been only 21 for at least 21 years let's be honest here.
"If you can't handle the roast, get out of the kitchen" : Kenobi 2021
Hah! Jokes on you, I only play unpopular commanders. I don't win, but I have the moral victory
"Vampires are edgy
Ninjas are cool"
yeee
Yup, it seems we have a mentally fourteen years old boy dunking on fourteen years old girls type of scenario.
jk
not jk
So... vampire ninjas?
Originally I was gonna complain that you dumped Edgar because I like vampires but then I remembered that I can’t get excited when a legendary vampire is printed because Edgar just exists.
This is old but suddenly more relevant with crimson vow.
"Any card that lets you draw cards for doing literally nothing is kinda lame"
Puts Korvold in A tier.
also windgrace
One year later and I definitely think korvold is a more obnoxious Commander than chulane. The influx of treasure makers recently just breaks him in half.
@@HomeCookinMTG Two words.
Dockside. Extortionist.
@@0jutai it's not even just him. The jund color combination just has so many insane treasure makers between old gnawbone, ancient copper dragon, tireless provisioner, pitiless plunderer, etc, It makes Korvold broken as fuck even if you don't shell out the guap for a dockside.
@@HomeCookinMTG Agreed.
Personal MVP is Tireless provisioner. If I open with Demonic Tutor, 90% of the time, I'm going to get that guy with it
There's one thing you don't understand about Teysa, and that's that I love her
"...and how they make my pp feel"
Can't help but notice that your top rank includes a dinosaur, a dragon, and a lady with a dragon.
There something you want to tell us about? Does thinking about scales get you going?
the 3 mono-colored commanders here truly represent their colors:
K'rrik = power using life
Krenko = Goblins!
Urza = all the things blue should not do...
selvala: lol I do everything, as green should
Heliod: LiFe gAiN aNd wAlKiNg bAliStA
@@elipetrou9308 Lol Heliod is not Mono-White in a nutshell. Eight-and-a-half Tails is.
i was ready to get offended and then vince just straight up slaps meren in S tier. Good to see you have decent taste
But Meren Is *the* basicest of bitches in Graveyard decks. The archetype slaps (with a _few_ caveats), but Meren might as well be wearing Uggs in her art For everything she is. That, plus she's the sort of "samey but better" poster child of the otherwise superior Golgari pile.
@@qwormuli77 this.mp4
@Agent 00 Bergtaube Well, they both are, as far as something not a five color goodstuff/manasink commander can be.
@@qwormuli77 👍👍👍👍👍 I feel that way about pretty much all the Experience Counter commanders. Grow a spine and play something that actually carries a risk when it's removed.
@@qwormuli77 the skull in her hand is just an illusion. It's actually a large frappucino
Me and my Boros angel posse drinking our pumpkin spice Lattes and patiently waiting for more angel tribal commanders to be printed.
One day we will get one
After the first 3 commanders, I kinda thought every one of them was going in the C(oward) tier.
GISHATH S TIER LETS GOOOOOO
I would have thought you'd love cEDH, you get to play Gitrog and blow up people's lands and draw cards (although you're probably blowing up your own lands most of the time).
As someone who refuses to switch out niv mizzet the firemand for the parun, this made me happy
I just run Jori En, because a shop emplyee gave me the promoversion of the card and told me to build a deck around the card. :D I hide both curiosity Niv-mizzets in there :D
Cringe, imagine not using Melek, Izzet Paragon
So many good choices for izzet, you've got Toggo and Sakashima, Keranos, Okaun and Zndrsplt, Both Jhoiras, Mizzix, Nin, Locust God, Tawnos...

There's an entire community in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US that greatly appreciates you for putting Danny DeVito in cat ears. He's beloved by the anime community, and especially with a subsect in the Maryland/Virginia area
Truly S Tier video loved it. Though how you can slam Chulane for being easy magic then ride over Urza like that is baffling. Grothama - now THAT´S a commander.
I'll have you know my Boros decks aren't basic cos I actually only play taplands ;)
But... but.... just why?
@@aidenpearce6624 high dexterity and skill
My Feather deck is so dependent on having the colours I need I am seriously considering putting in even shit like a guildgate.
I know I shouldn't but the temptation is there.
It was actually just a jape
I respect it, amulet of vigor is a thing and if you want to do that then you do you!
"Vampires are edgy." Says the man with a Blood Angels army
"I want to build an urza deck in paper *rolls eyes* not winter orb" Vince we know what you're about, don't try to placate the haters, stax the shit out of people and drink their tears
Preach
I mean Urza is stupidly busted but pretty hilarious too
Alela is super fun. Basically, you play a bunch of faeries, and a bunch of anthems, and then you smack everyone's face with cute glittery 7/7 fliers.
This.
At 16:28 We literally have a play group where I play Gishath for these exact reasons: because he's fun, random, and in my opinion, not oppresive... and someone else plays strictly Golos... This vid and segment MADE my DAY!!!!! AHAAHAHAHAA!!!!
Teysa is a GREAT first time commander really simple goal to build around with tonnes of support. Probably why she's so popular
I’m really curious, did anyone else start playing commander because they wanted to build an entire deck around a single card they thought was cool? Also what was your first/ best commander deck?
I have Edgar for my first deck. I then made a chulaine, korvald, First sliver and I just built Jared Dinosaurs
Yes, Arcades was the commander that made me build my first commander deck. Now my strongest deck is underrated Gyrus
As a Teysa Karlov player, her newest version is the one I play because its the best middle ground in power level for me, her original card lends itself too much to just doing degenerate combo stuff, but her RtR version feels like it does nothing but die to removal for 7 mana. 4 mana Teysa has a clear building path and a clear payoff for it while still not being overbearing imo
Arcades isn't interesting deck building at all, there are so many auto includes that the deck basically builds itself right?
i don't think so, i found myself cutting so many cards that in the edhrec page of Arcades are found in the top cards category
It’s actually one of the hardest deck to build and play well. You need to learn when to pull the trigger, protect your board, at what point you stop the “storm” with your walls etc.
Now this is Podracing!
"only play cards that make your pp go hard." is the Motto of all jank players xD
Jund for lyfe. Glad you sorta appreciate my bois. Korvold Lands is kinda spicy (if you built it in a way where you gotta almost exclusivly sac lands)
*several people are typing*
Pleasant kenobi is really someone of the rare ones left out there who can easily give me a good laugh. He just does it every time i revisit the channel. Love this dogshit. His comedy is just something special tbh. Much love and greets from berlin
You know, I expected Vince to take the piss out of my favs on the list. Especially my boy Eddy. I didn't expect him to force me to look into the mirror and admit to being a try-hard, edgy boy who picked Eddy M because he is the default best pick for Mardu vamps (and maybe just vamps overall). Great content!
I enjoy playing the top commanders in ways that have probably never been thought of before. Breya Myr, Chulane Persistent Petitioners, a zombie deck that doesn’t do anything with the graveyard, 90 land Gitrog, Gadwick Oops all counterspells, a commander burn deck.
This. I made a mono-blue inalla deck which should have had naban as the commander.
This video was fun. Now I have one question. When are we getting another dies to removal video? I like the back and forth with Kenobi and the Professor.
They've stated is more of an inperson type deal, and both of them are extreme covid compliance types so the chance it will ever happen again are pretty low.
@@helioscomis3732 Maybe when covid is over
@@helioscomis3732 well that sucks. Thanks for the info though.
I have a Gishath deck, and you are bang on with your analysis of dinosaur tribal. I made the deck because my son loves dinosaurs. Out of all my decks it is one of the most fun to play.
Gishath, my boy, in S-tier! Originally cracked him in a pack at Ixalan launch and thought, "Damn, that's flavor right there." Dinosaur kids for life!
Me, a Tymna/Kraum player: “good Vince, you get to live another day”
Opus Thief ftw
LMAO you were totally on point with the Kaalia assessment! Though he isn’t really a spike, my brother started with Edgar and then went on to build a Kaalia deck.
I love me some Muldrotha, it was my first commander deck and is still my favorite. My deck has evolved from Mitches commanders quarters list to graveyard combo stax hell, I absolutely love the deck!
Agree on Golos, as someone that started playing in 2019, cracked a foil Golos, built the deck, and disassembled it after 2 games, it was too awful to play with or against. I was so excited to open a cool new legend, just to discover that big mana Golos is the most boring thing in the world. Managed to rebuild him as zombie tribal and now the deck actually has personality which is nice.
As someone who owns both a kaalia and a meren deck, I agree 100% with this science, specially the part about golos players, that thing is just a cheat code.
Top of the morning to ya Vince!
Edit: spelling
Vince, have I missed an inside joke or are you repeatedly stating "I am only 21" for tax purposes?
Yeah there’s no way he’s only 21 lol...although the Brits are more well-spoken than us Yanks
I represent the Atraxa players and am pleased to inform you that you are absolutely right, 100%. And with that I welcome you to New Phyrexia, here is your poison counter, Elesh Norn will show you around and do have fun! NEXT!
Also kids remember :
Don't hate...
Proliferate!
If the implication of "coward" tier is players that don't want a challenge and just pick the most OP build they can pick cause they dont have a lot of skill and just want something they can slap down and win the game on the spot with. I'd say Urza is THEE most "coward" card ever playable in EDH. It's basically has "Dominion: You Win The Game". It's the equiv of playing a deck that just channel/fireballs you EVERY TIME on turn 1. I literally wont even waste the time playing against Urza decks since it just ends up being 20 mins of watching them combo off on turn 2...every game.
I personally started with Karrthus and have been hooked on dragons ever since. The Ur-Dragon deck released and I played it for a while... But Scion really stood out for me. I started running him the the CZ more and more until I just ran the Scion GY package. Now I have a Scion GY deck, a Scion cEDH deck, and a fully foiled Karrthus deck. I cheered when dragons took over Tarkir. I have no regrets. Sarkhan is love. Sarkhan is life.
Fark, old-skool PK hair cut 🤩😂 Love these old ‘roasts’ 😉👊
I love love LOVE your old school take on this list. “Give me old Sisay or give me death.” DAMN RIGHT! XD
The statement of Kaliaa being the next step after Edgar is 100% true. I had an Edgar deck, got bored, and made a Kaalia deck.
Arcades is handing you a steak on a silver platter, and giving you a spoon to eat it with. It's possible, but it's going to take work- whether by hacking away at it until it works, or sharpening and honing your spoon until it can actually do the job properly.
Story time: I was playing Commander with a close friend who was starting to get the hang of It, and two other guys in my LGS, I was playing Niv-Mizzet, my friend was playing a quirky Chromium deck and one of the guys was playing Golos. After a short game, where my friend got obliterated turn 7, and I and the 4th person didn't last much longer, we were asked to give feedback on the game, I was pretty chill, but my friend was still shocked and he said in a joking tone "Ass!Ass!Ass! Golos is ass on the grass! The card could only be stronger if it flipped the table over and shot the other players! If I hear you say 'I pay 7 for Golos' again I am going to cry Man!" That was the highlight of the night.
1:56 Bro does he hit em with the Danny Canny? 🤣
As an Alela player, I'll give you a rundown of Alela decks:
1. Brick
2. Get ignored
3. Mindslaver the combo player and take out everyone but yourself
Urza is not coward material?! Puts Atraxa's cowardice to shame. Feather deserved more love.
Teysa is alot of fun. thanks for being pleasant
Not Vince calling me a child for playing Gishath 😂
I think Golos is actually super cool as a commander for Myr Tribal; he's an out for your dorks, he can find a utility land, and he's an artifact creature which means he benefits from all your Myr lords (because any artifact lord is also a Myr lord)
Oh of course the British guy loves the Monarch mechanic 😤
Lmao.
Marchesa es pretty pish-posh.
My friend runs a stax atraxsa, proliferating stuff like smokestacks, tangle wire, and descent into madness. I thought it was great.
Gisanth is underrated. I am an average EDH player and the last three times I have “whipped out my Gisanth” (does not sound as funny after I have typed it) against three different play groups, I have won with Gishanth. The combination platter of goofy ETB and mana ramping seems like people just let me do my thing until Gisanth comes out (re: hasty and vigilant-y) and pops the one player with no creatures and *suddenly Seymour!* I have six 5/5+ on the board. Love the channel.
I could not stop laughing at 15:28. Great content.
My favorite 5 color commander is Urza, Academy Headmaster because I don’t like people knowing what I’m doing. Including myself.
I agree with Morophon being in coward tier for traditional tribal decks, however changeling tribal slaps pretty hard tbh since you just mix and match whatever tribal synergies you want to include. You should try it sometime!
I think old Edgar Markov is just one of the most honest decks out there. Ive got a pretty tuned list, and i play at a 8-9 power level table (tuned Yuriko, Zur, Wanderer type decks) and while im usually jamming Brago blinx or Meren Hulk combo, theres something weirdly beautiful about playing some vampybois, throwing down a shared animosity and kicking someone’s teeth in.
I now feel like a hipster because all of these commanders I haven't built or kept built because "They're too popular and solved"
I haven't even started this video yet, and I already love it.
Obeka’s design philosophy reminds me of your take on Arcades. I built that exact grixis archetype years before with lord of tresserhorn at the helm.
The science... of opinion, that's way too good.
And then there's me over here playing mono white heliod commander
Mono-white commander, brave soul.
I like 5-color not for the access to every individual color, but all color combinations. There's a lot of 3-5 color cards you can't really run in most decks, so having access to those is fun.
Vince, what are your thoughts on Golos+99 Lands?
Vince your the much needed voice of reason to players everywhere who can’t just enjoy the game regardless of the cards that make them salty. Losing can be fun if you learn from it to better your own skills for the next time.
This was hilarious. I absolutely love the Mario paint music in the background.
Huzzah, not so much as one of my commanders showing up on this list means Vince shan't be mocking me for playing any of them.
I was thinking the same thing!
Let’s see you mock Stitcher Geralf and Akuta, Born of Ash, ya scruffy Brit!
(love u Vince
@@SlayerofWyverns Vince doesn't believe in punching down.
@@EviIPaladin oof
I don't care about anything controversional Vince said on the past, in this video or anything he will say in the future
He put Gishath in the S tier, certified my favorite Magic UA-camr
Older than the Professor is possibly even harder to believe than 21.
As a golos player you search 1 of 3 lands. Field of the dead if your scared of others and become a threat, the world tree if you can't fix mana so let's just literaly give you perfect mana if you cast golos with 5 land gives you access to most your cards, and then vessuva the worlds best land because it becomes a land on etb so it's all ways the second pick and if you have enchaments that turn creatures to lands gets a creature or just a. Second field and you know how more than 1 field of the dead can break a format.
You need to take the opportunity to get ahead of the crowd, you have MTG and Warhammer experience, so you need to do the "what colors are the various Marine Chapters" before anyone else.

"How do you fuck with a Golos?"
*Me a Golos player looking nervously at that Lavinia, Azorious renegade*
Easily...... really easily........
I’m currently planning on building a mono W DnT commander deck in your honor Vince. Why?
"How do you fuck with a Golos?"
Well let me tell you:
-WAR Ashiok
-Lavinia, Azorius Renegade
-Void Mirror
-WAR Karn
-Shenanigans or anything similar to blow up artifacts
Opponent plays Golos turn three, flashes Hulk. Fun, fun, fun.
(Commenting for the algorithm to pick this video up. I really like this channel and want it to do well).
Feather is a Boros Angel, but it's not like it needs to be (or really should be) played in any kind of Angles deck. It really want to be some form of Boros spellslinger, with several different win condirion options to build around.
Aw. Golos is my golem tribal commander. Does that mean all my golems are cowards as well?
Good video Vince! I would love to see a similar video with say 100-130 or 200-230 etc etc. I would love to see some more fun style/flavor/middle of the road commanders.
Keep up the good work!
When you put Sisay in cowardly.. it hurt haha. I can understand why.
I’m a whiny little shit but I don’t want to leave the kitchen. I’m hungry.
Also, yay you put my favorite commander in S Tier! Muldrotha is awesome.
You entirely ignored Vampire’s iconic third color: blue.
They’ve had it for surprisingly long
Golos is a lands deck? I just him to shit out extra turn spells!
I do love Golos, but that being said, Golos is a very stupid commander and I actually don't use him too often these days because when I bring him out I rarely lose. One spin off of him is usually enough to just end the game, so yeah I do love him, but I get that he is dumb and I can understand the salt I can get for using him every now and then.
One option is to just use him as though the second ability doesn't exist. Just tell your opponents this ahead of time, it can help keep from playing archenemy.
@@LocalChamp Oh no, I do the opposite. I pul him out and say "hey, I'm playing Golos, come at me. Make me the archenemy." I kind of like being the archenemy with some commanders like Golos and Anje and I feel like it can really balance the scales against me, which is good imo.
I do now want to make a Golos deck that ignores the activated ability now though, tbh, because he does seem like a very interesting lands commander.
@@LocalChamp I do the same. My golos deck has 70 lands with mazes end as the wincon so the ability doesn't do as much.
@@fingerling1231 Me too! Feels bad when you activate him on a whim and hit two gates.
"Most popular commander"
Welp... I know mine isnt on the list.
-cries in Angus Mackenzie-
All of these top commanders require very little deck building and piloting skills, yet are very strong
After watching the video I am happy that Vince isn't part of Wizards of the Coast.
While we would get all the fetchland reprints we want and Splinter Twin would be unbanned we can see a clear colour preference in this list and the broken green cards would plague us for all eternity. Maybe Uro and Oko would have been bg instead of ug but that is the only difference we could expect.
This was fun. I really want a Naya commander that supports samurai. We need samurai support, with more fight cards in red and white lol.
great vid, needed better image quality on the card images though :)
Muldrotha was my commander for my Tiny Text Tribal deck I built, even though the graveyard play was kinda weak in that deck, simply for the headache they brought.
