I guess I’m like your dad. A watch to me is meant to be an extension of yourself, a tool of sorts. I bought my first Rolex piece just over a year ago and mine is scratched to all heck. If you’re never going to sell it, I don’t see a reason to drive yourself crazy trying not to scratch it every time it’s worn. Respect to the guy who kept his clean after a year.
LOL Carlos sounds like my father with cars! My old man had a Benz 500SEL that took a lot wear and tear and lost its “new Benz smell” inside to cigarette odor within the 1st year! He was kinder to his Rolex because he wasn’t very active, thank goodness!
Nah sorry man, my grandfather loved tool watches and wore a Rolex sub 5513 in Vietnam and ended up buying a GMT Pepsi 16750 in the 90’s along with he bought a 116610 Submariner in 2010. I ended up getting the 116610 sub after he passed and he beat both of those watches wearing them doing anything and everything and they still held up like tanks. I treat the sub in the same spirit. I wear it to work and doing pretty much any task I can. He told me something that stuck with me that made me see tool watches, luxury or not, in a whole new light. They are meant to be beaten and worn to literal death. He said Rolex was always supposed to be a bonafide working man’s watch and a tool watch by trade, and it wasn’t until the mid to late 1980’s that he said yuppies ruined what Rolex stood for and then they became “Rich boy toys” going forward. I wear my Seamaster Professional 2541.80, as I am a huge 007 fan(as was my grandfather as Sean Connery wore a sub) and i wear that watch just like the sub. Like a tool watch, not a luxury one.
you'll know who owns that patek when you see him walking about with his wrist cling filmed and hoisted above his head. I'm like your dad, cant wear a watch for more than a day without adding a few nice dings.
To be fair I'm not a watch person. I love the content and the sales and knowledge. I do have one watch that I will absolutely own one day which is the yellow gold day-date or presidential if I'm not mistaken. That's the only watch I am interested in..but for the first time ,this watch in the video is amazing and beautiful as well..I still prefer the roles but this is dope

Impossible to keep gold look new , i got rolex 126613lb and i wear with extremly attention and at the first day come "hair line" , now when i look close it have a millions of little hair line ...iam curious to see that patek from near to my eyes
So funny because maybe 1-2 years ago these watches sold them selves. The market has completely flipped. They’re having to really try now with content on “function” etc.
I’m like that !! I never ever scratch my watches. 😎 I have 2 apple watches that I use daily and they’re perfect and “going out watches” Rolex, Cartier and Breitling are in the same condition that I bought them. 👌🏼
He doesn’t wear the watch - and if he did he was paying more attention to not wearing it and showing wear than enjoying life - if you can’t wear a watch without worrying you can’t afford it
I call BS, I wear my GMT master ii daily and it’s pretty beat up even though it’s stainless steel which is dramatically more scratch resistant than gold
My Ferrari doesnt have any scratches and the odometer still reads the factory number. 🙄 Scratches and such on a watch only matter if you see it as an investment which is a bad idea. Watches, cars, etc are a depreciating asset in almost all cases and a truly special watch or car that appreciates will still do so with normal wear. Anything else is dumb.
I’m going to stay in my lane and stick to the sub $15k market because I’m not as delicate of a watch wearer like the client that you sold that 6 figure watch to. Shoot if I so much put a smudge on a watch that 5992 I’ll probably have a panic attack and retrace my steps on when did someone get that close to touch my watch.
