I wish just ONE person on here had a sketchbook flip through that shows there super early works full of mistakes and not so good drawings every sketchbook flip through video I ever see is always full of such amazing work
Love how you look at people in an "optimistic" way I guess. Just totally in love with your sketchbook, and it inspired me so much please make more videos like this XD
Excellent book! So many great drawings (I didn't see one that I didn't like). This video really makes me want to go sketch people, for fun. Thanks for sharing!
linzertube Great! Yeah, it's a ton of fun! started out for me as a free figure drawing session, then I really fell in love with caricature and making them into little characters. Go give it a shot :)
I found you through Will Terrell and I'm so glad I did because I absolutely love your work! I've wished someone like you would draw me just so I can see what I'd look like in your heads. I am envious of how you see things I wonder what it would take for me to see things the same way. I've tried people sketching and almost gave up on it before running into artists like you and Will. Keep inspiring. I love you!
+Maxime Leclerc kinda depends. The initial gesture takes anywhere from 15 seconds to 1 min. Then it just depends on how much detail I want and what I'm working with, and a number of other factors.
I love watching your flip throughs lol. such talent and your humor reminds me of my dad while he was still alive. same way of seeing things in such a light hearted silly way, and he liked to doodle too. just not near your talent lol. thanks for the laughs and inspiration! 😊🌼
Dude, bravo......i've recently discovered yourself and will's work, i have spent many nights now, watching wills videos and sketching away, its such a pleasure to get a look at your sketchbooks now. great work, the pair of you are a great influence, i aim to not go for that style of drawing that you two have and listen more to the advice that you guys have, and just the attitude you have towards drawing, its so encouraging, it keeps me hungry and passionate about what i love. keep up the great work, i hope you find another sketching buddy soon.
mattysloe Thanks so much! I'm so glad you've enjoyed watching and it's so nice to hear that you're staying passionate about your work. Good luck :D and thanks again
Good stuff Brandon! It would be awesome if you did a video about people sketching/ caricatures sometime. Like tips and stuff. Wills got some great videos but I'd love to hear some of your insights and methods!
Man!! This was amazing. You, Will and Steve Silver. Top notch people sketching! Thanks for taking the time to upload this. Been dying to get a peek of a sketchbook of yours since I first started to see your work. Will you be doing some older sketchbooks? It would be great to actually see you doing a live sketch (on paper) not sure if that would be possible for you though. Anyways, thanks again!!
parasitic larvae Thank you so much! Yes, will be going through some old sketchbooks. and I agree, I'm getting some equipment issues resolved, then I'll be doing more traditional drawing. :)
Great video. I love these kinds of videos. It's amazing how much you exaggerate stuff. I'd love to see a video on how you go about designing a caricature like this.
Stephen Leotti Thanks! Yeah, I've been trying to come up with a good way of showing my process when it comes to caricature. It's hard without showing the people I'm seeing and it's a bit sketchy to show their photo online :/ I'll work it out though and get something together :)
Brandon Green lol i loved yor reaction/comment umm so i am 13 years old and i love art and how u guys draw i love this style but i don't have a good mind for just creating people do u have any suggestions for a 13 year old girl? lol like where can i go because my mom doesn't just drop me off at the mall but idk about starbucks. thanks :-)
Wonderful! But I thought the most interesting bit of your sketchbook was your cover! Now, forgive me if you've already answered this but have you painted your sketchbook covers before?
damn i wish i had someone to just go out and sketch people with. it gets really lonely just sitting in your house just drawing anything u can force from your head to come up with. it would really help to have company and get ideas from other people out in public. :( P.S. love the sketches.
MrGAMER6001 Yeah, that can really be a drain on your motivation for sure. Where are you? there might very well be a sketch group in your area or maybe just someone else with the same problem.
I live in st. marys county in southern maryland. And i searched everywhere for art programs but the only thing i could find was stuff for younger kids like 12 and under. and im 16 so ya. and nobody in any of my classes would care in the slightest about art.
Hi! I do most of the line-work on the spot, but, a lot of times I take the drawing home to color. That way I have more time to draw more characters while the reference is in front of me. forgive me if I've misunderstood your question. (Google translate did a pretty poor job) Thanks!
Camran Ehsani The fact that it's red is personal preference. I like the colored pencils though because the marks don't smear away when I'm drawing real light.
Loved the cover! not to mention everything else :) How do you get so much character in your work? I find that when I draw people it's difficult for me to really exaggerate what makes them so interesting. I want to start bringing a new level of life to my characters but i'm finding the design part of it difficult. I'm improving a lot with my rendering but it is as you say, you can only polish a turd so much xD
Lily Hosegood lol...yeah, I love that saying. My illustration teacher used to say that at least once a week. There's really no secret. Just a lot of practice. You have to go through a lot of horrible, no-life sketches. One thing I can say though is you have to just actively attempt to put life into it. Try having a plan going in. What's the interest? What's the pose? What's the gag? Answers to those questions will help guide your decisions. Thanks :D
Brandon Green Thanks :) I'll definitely keep working on it :) Your work has surely inspired me to keep on going so thanks also for sharing your amazing art with us ;D
***** If you mean finished sketchbooks...Yes....a lot of finished sketchbooks. If you mean multiple sketchbooks going at the same time....sometimes. Not right now tho.
I wish just ONE person on here had a sketchbook flip through that shows there super early works full of mistakes and not so good drawings every sketchbook flip through video I ever see is always full of such amazing work
That cover. Is the coolest thing. I've ever seen.
+MoarTaffy Thanks! My current sketchbook is just blank :( I should remedy that, I guess.
Love how you look at people in an "optimistic" way I guess. Just totally in love with your sketchbook, and it inspired me so much please make more videos like this XD

Drawin people at the mall sounds so fun!

I saw so many caricatures that Will did also. Its so cool that you two complements each other's style. Excellent work by the way.

Brandon Green cool. Can't wait! You might be able to ask a friend if they don't mind, I'm sure they'd be game.
How much time does it take you in average to roughly sketch a person (only the sketching process) ? Thanks.
Awesome work btw. Love your vids. Keep up!
You and Will are so similar,I love it.It must be a blast to chill with you two :).
RileyOR Nah...we're total downers when we're together. Just kidding. Yeah, we have fun :)

victor noagbodji Yep, at some point. Thanks :)
Brandon, first time on your site and loving your style. Is this the way you really see people? Can you tell me about your art background? Thanks, donn
Donn Thomsen Thanks! Yeah, I've kinda trained myself over the years to see people like this. I'll be doing a sort of "my story" video soon too.
Lovely sketches, great video :) thanks

Is this will t's book? If not you draw exactly like him.! Looks cool.
krylonking420s Yep...I just borrowed it for the video ;)
Just a quick question, do you sketch with red pencil crayon out of personal preference?? Why not use regular pencils?
Camran Ehsani The fact that it's red is personal preference. I like the colored pencils though because the marks don't smear away when I'm drawing real light.
I try to draw people, but they always catch me and it gets weird really fast. You work is awesome.
Gardy Diaz Yeah, it can be a challenge for sure. sometimes you just have to press on in spite of the awkward reactions.
Great sketches. I am always sad to hear that a lot of great artists have left Lubbock to greener pastures. Keep it up.
digitten Thanks!
You are GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
What Sketchbook do u use?

Crook Ed Yeah, I plan on it at some point
Do You have multiple sketchbooks then?
***** If you mean finished sketchbooks...Yes....a lot of finished sketchbooks. If you mean multiple sketchbooks going at the same time....sometimes. Not right now tho.

+Kira HA! it DID sound like him didn't it? it wasn't supposed to be
+Brandon Green I almost feel bad for saying it, then, but that was the only person I could imagine when you said it. I could totally see it, too.
How long did this sketchbook take you?
***** Too long. lol! 8 months I think. My sketchbooks always takes longer when I restrict them to people sketching since I can't go every day.
