Unfortunately I just found your channel today, I say unfortunately because I turned to art as a form of therapy after a serious spinal injury while serving in the British Army rendered me disabled and I became a bit down. Any way I wish I found your channel sooner as I am just blown away by your work. I love drawing but I just copy illustrations for my own enjoyment, not to sell or anything like that. But I think people who can create work from thin air are just awesome. Any way so glad I found your channel, love your work.
The Art Gear Guide I know this is a year old ... But if you are looking to ever learn how to draw out of your imagination, check out Phils design corner here on you tube, he posts various lectures from his classes in Fullerton college, really has changed the way I draw
loving your sketch books. So much character! It makes it seem as though the most interesting people in the world are everywhere you go, but really that has a lot to do with you making them interesting. Plus, the Walmart factor helps.
Love all the sketches. I especially love the Rhino and shark sketches most of all. I like the way you made them your own and just had fun with them. Not to say that you didn't do that with the other sketches. More "outside the box." You have any amazing talent and I really appreciate you sharing your sketchbooks with all of youtube to see. I just came across your channel after watching Will Terrell vids. I think you and Will have a very unique style. I just subbed you too, so when I get a chance I'm going to watch as many vids as possible. Keep up the great work. I live here in Atlanta too. Moved here from Cali about 20 yrs ago. Thanks again for sharing. cheers,
Damn.. Not a single wrinkle in those pages. you must be pretty confident with your lines.. I have erased my sketches so many times that it made the pages look sanded lol
This is so great!! I get the impression that you continue to push yourself as an artist, and I love it! How do you come up with these challenges/exercises for yourself? Thanks for sharing!!
+Abby Bodemann Thanks. All different ways...sometimes other artists/friends will suggest a challenge/goal and sometimes it's just something to improve a certain aspect of my art.

Great Sketchbook! Probably your next Sketchbook is soon full. :D Looking forward to Sketchbook #5.
Great posts as always, but for some reason I really enjoyed the way your shark carrier concept turned out. However, what really caught my eye was how your paper didn't warp much, if at all, when you used acrylic. Did you use a higher ratio of acrylic versus water?
very delightful to watch as always Brandon : ) also would be amazing to bump into you and be like "hey Brandon i follow you on UA-cam" one day. thanks for sharing.
Gosh, these are so beautifully rendered! Could you pleeeease do a tutorial on how you get those hues and shadows in? An animated series of your characters would be so much fun to watch.
Hey Brandon. Lovely sketchbook. I like how you talk about the things that went wrong for you too. I have a question that's bothered me for years. How does one go from practising anatomy to turning that into quirky sketches that have poise and balance? Is there a learning resource for this? it seems like it can't just be learned by mistake or blind practise.
cr0uchingtiger Thanks! Well, it really is just practice practice practice. But...no practice is ever blind. Do a lot of figure studies to learn what the anatomy does and how it works; then look at other artwork and see how others interpret that anatomy. Keep going and you'll settle into your own way of interpreting things (your style) without ever really knowing it.
I'm looking into buying sketchbooks for my own work and I really like that one in the video (especially those "Off White" Pages). May I ask the company and size of that sketchbook?
It´s always awesome to see your sketchbook videos :) Will the narrated version of the elephant in illustrator from your previews video still coming to the channel? i really wanted to learn some things i saw in the video :) Keep up the good work the channel is getting better and better :)
ptSalped Thanks! I still want to post an illustrator commentary, but not sure if it'll be the elephant or not. Might do something similar just to have new content, but it all just depends on time.
Thankyou so much for sharing your talent with us. It is amazing and fun to go through it with you. I also am trying to stop using outlines in my artwork. Sometimes it works and other times I move back to it. It is a habit I guess. Good luck and again thankyou. Have a wonderful day.
Jan Shamer Thank you so much! Yeah, outlines definitely have there place. I'm not against them, I just kinda need to move on I guess. I still dabble with the outline intentionally sometimes, but am really trying to avoid them where I can.
Hey Brandon. Thanks for the video! Not gonna ask you about what pencil you use lol. I do want to ask about what type of paper you draw on especially for markers. Whenever I use markers on my sketchbook it just smudges everywhere. thanks!
+KIN Wong I don't use any type of special marker paper (although that is an option). I use a toned paper sketchbook...this one was from Strathmore but I also use Earthbound sketchbooks.
Hey Brandon. Sorry got another question:P I've only experienced with grey colors set markers. What are your suggestions for someone who wants to jump into color markers. Get a few just to try it out or buy a whole set? As we all know markers are expensive, are they easily dried out if you don't use it for a while? Thanks!! Have a great week!!
Thanks for sharing, Brandon. But sketching in church? Man, church must be very different in the states. As I can't imagine drawing in church for one would get some very unfriendly looks from other people. :D
Jay Rinaldi lol...yeah, you kinda have to use some strategic seating, along with have very little supplies. Plus, a sketchbook that kinda represents a bible helps too. ;)
What do you use to colour in your sketches? I've been trying to work with colour recently because I've just done pencil and ink things for wayy too long
graphicjules I like to draw them on the spot, but sometimes I don't have the time or supplies, etc. and I'll just snap a photo to take back home and work up later.
Wow man you are like one of the best caricatures artists i ever saw ,Please if there are any way you can download a video to show us you coloring tech like how to color this or starting guide that will be awesome ,I am a caricaturist artist and i would really love to learn from your experinces with some tips and guides i will appreciate it ,Even if it is just a private mail on how to do so ,ill subsicribe to learn more from your style ,God bless you
Hi brandon, how are you?, it will be awesome that you could do the scanning!! they are just awesome, such an inspiration, at least for me, i really love your work, the design, the rendering, very cool.... what kind of paper do you recommend using markers?, and what kind of markers do you often use?, it will be great if you could some day make a tutorial of your rendering process with markers. :) . You should be teaching in schoolism man!! or something like that, you are a great artist..... if you someday have the idea of making one of your characters in 3d, i would love to help, i'm a 3d Generalist, anything you need 3d modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, sculpting, it will be an honor. God bless you dude!
isaac salinas Thank you so much! The kind of paper is really just personal preference. I use this toned paper for pretty much all of my sketching, but you might like actual marker paper or something else completely. 100% up to you. I use prismacolor markers for almost all my markering. I do plan on doing some traditional sketching tutorials/demos in the future, but need a decent camera first.
Hey Brandon, could you possibly do a video on your marker process? You get such amazing hues, lights, and darks, I'd love some advice on how to do that. Beautiful work
Am I the only one who gets frustrated when he says, '' I hate it,''? A lot of people do this when it is actually amazing and amazingly coulered from like out of a book!
Aww thanks I was just pointing out if there from a long time ago you don't have to say that! All of them are awesome! You will get more far in life if you believe in yourself! BELIEVE! Wishing you a Fablous Friday ;P! Muhahaha ;)! LMAO! ~ Emily :D!

+Brad Utterstrom Ah yes...the walmart factor. lol Thanks :)
Man, I really love your style bro. I like that your drawings aren't complete caricatures and take on a life of their own.
Love all the sketches. I especially love the Rhino and shark sketches most of all. I like the way you made them your own and just had fun with them. Weird that you hate the picture of the old lady at McDonald's... I love that one!
I usually don't comment on people's videos but can I just say that I love the way you use white shading and I love love your art style
this makes me want to get a toned sketchbook
I have to admit i love your coloring.

Great posts as always, but for some reason I really enjoyed the way your shark carrier concept turned out.
However, what really caught my eye was how your paper didn't warp much, if at all, when you used acrylic. Did you use a higher ratio of acrylic versus water?
Nomad Johanns Thanks! Yes...hardly any water with the acrylics.
very delightful to watch as always Brandon : ) also would be amazing to bump into you and be like "hey Brandon i follow you on UA-cam" one day. thanks for sharing.

Brandon Green thanks for the response! very interesting that it can happen so organically.
Just wondering if you were using Copic markers to color? Love your coloring and all your works of art!
Mackenzie Brewer I use mostly prismacolor for coloring
Hi! I loveeee your channel! I'm a new subscriber. I wanted to ask, what markers do you use for skin tones?
This channel is very underrated
I love your colouring, what pens do you use??
Prismacolor
Very nice! Incredible coloring. What markers are you using?
+Magnus Naglestad Thank you! They're mostly Prismacolors
LOVE your work. Had a thought; I could definitely see you illustrating off the People of Walmart page.
+Brennan Strong Yep, it's a good resource for sure. But, I prefer to experience the walmart in person.
it looks like there is no outline, but if I look closer I see at least something... with what do you outline your drawings? Amzing drawing's btw!
Handsome Fred he said colored pencil
liz koller yeah, I already figured that out.... a year ago. But, you are right! :)
What brand sketchbook is that? I don’t see many hard bound toned paper books. I’d like to get one.
Do you show the results to the people you draw? Like the ones from the church
No. A few people have seen themselves when looking through my book, but I never go show them.
love your work
I'm looking into buying sketchbooks for my own work and I really like that one in the video (especially those "Off White" Pages).
May I ask the company and size of that sketchbook?
It's a Strathmore. the size is 8"x5" or something close to that.
Thanks :D and amazing art btw :)
It´s always awesome to see your sketchbook videos :)

Brad,if your pens go dry ,pull off the cap and put a little alcohol in them.Perks 'em right up.
+Terri Gelbaum ah yes, I've heard that trick before but never gotten around to using it. I should try it for sure. Thanks Tammy!
Thankyou so much for sharing your talent with us. It is amazing and fun to go through it with you. I also am trying to stop using outlines in my artwork. Sometimes it works and other times I move back to it. It is a habit I guess. Good luck and again thankyou. Have a wonderful day.
