I’m so glad to see this tutorial. When my mother passed she had a Gmas Flower garden quilt in progress I inherited. Haven’t touched it because I was afraid of hexies. Now, I can work on it!
Hello! I hope you have had a peaceful day. I had a busy day in my sewing room too and now I'm sitting with my hand quilting to watch you! I hope you have a great week ahead and I'm looking forward to your next video! Thank you for sharing!
LOVE, LOVE,LOVE this video!!! I’m just now getting interested in hexies and gathering all I need to make them. THIS gave me so much inspiration to get started!! Thanks for such a nice tutorial.
I have been quilting since 2013 and have never tried hexagons. They looked intimidating but after watching the video it isn't that difficult. Very good tutorial.
This is the best explanation of Hexi hand work I've seen. I love the natural way you present. The machine sewing of hexi is something I may have to try. You certainly made the idea of hand sewing hexi's less intimidating. I have done a few but never finished one flower.
Thank you, Vickie, for showing an easier way to sew these cuties. I will make a Scrappy table runner using 2" and 2 1/2" squares. The glue and your sewing hint helps a lot.
Thanks Marcella, the glue does help but I forgot to mention that a glue stick works too and if you want you can cut squares and do the same technique making there more fabric to fold over and hold onto.
I was so happy when I opened the February subscription and saw hexagon templates and papers. It’s something I’ve been thinking about lately but wasn’t sure what size paper to start with. Love your table runner, pillow and mug rug. Think that I will dip my toes in the water and make the mug rug. Looking forward to using the beautiful Adele In Spring fabric to make the Chain Link quilt. So many projects and not enough time! Thanks for the tutorial Vickie. See you next time.
I really enjoyed your help with Hexagons. I've always done them by hand, that's how grandma taught me, I'm 74 and the grandma, but no girls to pass it onto. Your table runner was gorgeous, and the use of fussy cuts around the flowers was beautiful. Thank you very much.
Vickie, this was such a great video and even though I don't do a ton of hand work, i will be doing this by hand rather than machine. Your instructions are so clear and I can't wait to get started but first I need the 28mm rotary cutter. Thank you so much! (I don't mind the finger licking - do that myself all the time!) Thank you for taking me out of my comfort zone! Since I am retiring in a week, I'll have time to do this.
I have been receiving your subscription bags for a few months. I love them. I haven't done hexagons for years but watching this video has helped a lot. The fabrics this month are beautiful. Thank you for this tutorial.
Thanks so much! I love your instruction on this project! I received the kit and thought "UH OH!" I haven't started but I will soon! The fabric is beautiful, great choice.
I came a crossed your tutorial today and really enjoyed it. I’ve started my journey towards making a quilt with 2” Hexie’s. I’m sort of enjoying the process. I learned a new method on your tutorial today that will make ie so much easier. Thank you for that. I’ll put glue on the hexi card and attach my fabric then begin sewing. 💖💖💖
I really enjoyed the video. I’m a quilter but always stayed away from hexagon but lately been waiting to try working with them. I learned a lot . Thank you
I love, love, love paper piecing hexies. I make them in all sizes and I do it all by hand. It's fast and easy. I have made placemats, table runners, quilts, coasters, pillows, and more. I use the hexie flowers to embellish all sorts of things. They are so fun and cute and brighten up any space. It's a great way to use up scraps. They make really cute borders too. You can use them to make really cute pin cushions as well or put a button in the center as an added decoration. They make really cute pockets on an apron or little girl's dress or skirt. I am really hooked on these. They are so fun.
@@CreativeNotions I tried doing it and it's a bit challenging but of course it can be done. Every time I watch a video about paper piecing hexies for projects, I get all inspired over again. I have been trying to figure out how to use the left over hexies after making flowers and saw a video yesterday that makes flowers of all the same color but different patterns. So cute! I also saw on Missouri Star a video about how to put batting and a backing on each hexie and finish them individually so that there is no need for machine or hand quilting. I'm going to have to try that as well.
I tthink you are a sweet soul. You have inspired me to get my hexagons out to work on once again, I can't wait to try making them by machine. Thank you for you time and effort to make this video.

There is nothing wrong with starting small. Useful projects are the best. When you feel comfortable then you can make a bunch of them and make something from them.
I'm waiting for my hexagon punch to come in the mail. I've been collecting fat quarters and card stock. I have never made a quilt from start to finish before.

Haha, I get tongue tied sometimes when I’m making videos, it’s like talking to myself but I want to make sense so sometimes I should just not say anything. Thanks for the help though.
I don't understand why you are sticking AND sewing. I love EPP but I use a stick glue. I don't take the paper out until it's incased by another piece. ie middle of flower. Always interesting how others do things😁
Hi Angela, sometimes I use a glue stick to hold the fabric too especially if the fabric is cut to just over the size of the cardboard. I didn’t mention it but meant to that if you cut a square that is bigger than the cardboard it is easier to sew it without the glue and give more fabric to hold onto. I like to try new methods too so you should choose the one that works best for you.
Looks like the glue makes it a bit of a nuisance to get the papers out. To make it look easy, refilm an easy removal. This is just enough extra fuss to make me not want to use this method. The NO paper method by hand or machine looks a lot easier. The famous Y seams look easy enough. )))

The piece under the machine where you popped your material they call the machine throat hehe. Sorry I didn’t get it all in one comment.
Haha, I get tongue tied sometimes when I’m making videos, it’s like talking to myself but I want to make sense so sometimes I should just not say anything. Thanks for the help though.
@@CreativeNotions hehe was just a helping hand. You do a better job than I could do.
The famous Y seams look easy enough. )))
