First of all, thank you for this video! It goes far and beyond and helped me to successfully launch the game on deck! no you don't. you can also use a stand alone emulation by just downlloading rpcs3 from there site or the software manager. but emudeck is better for most things as it auto sets up your button mapping so if you dont feel you can setup your own buttons dont use stand alones. but if you are like "im just playing this and that" and dont need to do emudeck you dont need to. i been posting on ed4t's videos on a lot of stuff telling people where to get like bio's and roms so i hope its not making him mad and telling people how to fix things. i just like helping so i hope this helps

But I think the best way to manage all game roms is to use Emulation Station for now if you don’t want to see other ps3 collections.
@@ED4T Got it. It’s not that big of an issue i was just curious. However it didn’t matter much because i just checked my game didn’t work as well as i thought 😅 It isn’t compatible with the ps3 emulator. It is what it is. I’ve used a lot of your videos to help me set up my steam deck. Thank you for all your help!! I appreciate how much effort you put in to making the videos as easy as possible for new people like me.
I have a window pc do I have to download window emulator on my steam deck to order to play emulator
Just follow my video and install EmuDeck on your Deck. You don't need to download a windows emulator. Emudeck will install the emulator for you.
no you don't. you can also use a stand alone emulation by just downlloading rpcs3 from there site or the software manager. but emudeck is better for most things as it auto sets up your button mapping so if you dont feel you can setup your own buttons dont use stand alones. but if you are like "im just playing this and that" and dont need to do emudeck you dont need to. i been posting on ed4t's videos on a lot of stuff telling people where to get like bio's and roms so i hope its not making him mad and telling people how to fix things. i just like helping so i hope this helps
Great video! One problem though, Im facing problems with pkg downloads not appearing on the steam rom manager, is there any fixes for that?
Pkg should be installed inside rpcs3.
@@ED4T thanks for the reply, it is on rpcs3 and works but doesn’t appear in steam rom manager
@@DarthB4derI’m having the same problem. Did you figure it out?
how did you get the buttons and all that on the steam deck to work on the ps3 game? i can connect my ps4 controller to it and it works fine but i cant get the steam deck to work for it for some reason which sucks
try to reset your RPCS3 emulator's configuration by default the controller should work.
IDK if you'll see this, but I need help. I've tried PKG and ISO files. The ISO file I seem to have used was already decrypted because the method you did just encrypted it. I have the PUPUPDATE file on RCPS etc, but nothing will work. I even used the ISO file after patch and even tried it before seeing your video of it not being patched, but nothing will work.
I just want to run The Godfather II PS3 game, but I been trying for 5 hours now.... they make it so damn hard
If you iso file has been decrypted then you can just unzip the iso file and you will get a folder after unzipping then just move that folder into PS3 rom folder. It should work.
I do that, but it doesn't seem to work...@@ED4T
9:09 for the ISO Crypto part it won’t work for me. It says Invalid file, this file does not contain PIC/D1/D2 data
Make sure you eject the iso file before use patch software

@@ED4T thanks that worked!! But now I’m just having issues finding the storage drive for the deck on my pc.
Thank you for the tutorial. I did everything the way you had it. But with iso games, after IRD and decrypt, I could not get the games to start. The steam icon spins forever after I tried to load the game and would no move pass it. Can you give some advice? Thank you!
did you reject/unmount the iso file from Windows before you use the patcher tool and crypto tool ?
@@ED4T yes sir! I did everything that you had listed line by line. I downloaded the iso, then download the IRD. Eject the file before the patcher tool. Then decrypt the iso, extract it using 7 zip. Load it into Emulator Ps3 rom, it shows up in RPCS3 but only when I try to load it from the steam, it would not load. At this point, I am about to give up.
@@KriQz thank you! I got it to work per your instruction.
@@Thevinn1 glad to hear it! I am new to the scene of emulation and have been running into my own problems, including what you listed above- so I am glad I could help! Best of luck moving forward :)
Hi, Great video. tell me I have a question about the game the lord of the rings: the return of the king on PS2, it does not work on PCSX. You would have a solution ?
some games just cannot run. have you tried another game rom? sometimes it is caused by the ROM..
have you tried setting the CPU to run only one cpu while in game. some games run better with only 1cpu. if not look up "decky" for steam deck and "power tools" almost might want to try out cryoutilities steam deck as well.
would this work on the rog ally??
Yes 90% will be same. Only different is steam deck use emudeck. Ally use rpcs3 directly. All you can use emudeck windows version this will be very close to this video
In my case iso game shows as a folder ?
Unable to play ps3 game using Xbox controller..Game loads absolutely fine..unable to start the game..
Thanks, it’s really helpful, can emudeck play sega model 3 games like hyperspin?
sorry i am not sure. you have to test out.
Hi! Why do you not use PS3-ISO-Rebuilder?
when I go to the ps3 sony website, it shows firmward 4.90 and no option to download. Any suggestions?
Select install from computer the you can download it
does a rap file always come with a pkg file cause I got a pkg file that didn't come with one is that normal?
most of time it should have a rap file with pkg.
@@ED4T it was the army of two game.
Sorry for asking but when I unzipped the ps3 rom It had 3 pkg file how do I add All of them in one game and also it didn’t come with a RAP file?
You can download the rap files too if pkg does not come with it

Where do you find the games to download ?
Hello sir could you show me how to access debug mode in rpcs3 for steam deck? Thank you
My game keeps getting stuck on building spu cache. Any idea how to fix?
i have the same problem, did you fix that somehow?
@@zixen1452 nope some games load others just get stuck.
@@DONBLOBZ Ohh from where did you just download games? i was trying vizzlair or smth like that :P
the menubar is not show like File / Emulation etc... how can I activate it?
try to reinstall the PS3 Emulator from EmuDeck and reboot your steam deck too.
13:22 is when the .PKG tutorial starts
wow, thanks for pointing this out. its fixed now.
Wait, so for me to get games running for ps3 on steam deck, i dont Need a bios, just the firmware update and the steps you did in this video? If so thats great
Yes just do what I showed in video. No bios required just firmware and game Roms.
Some help please? This works perfectly but after a while the games become ENC files instead of DEC files and will not play.
you have to re-get dec files. i am assuming you might accidentally use EmuDeck file compression tool.
@@ED4T thanks a lot for answering me. I got it to work again, i think i got some bad roms. I changed download site and im back on track again.
Your video is the best one for ps3 emulation on steam deck , thanks again.
Great Video! Thanks! Not sure why in the IsoTools app it always shows encrypting and not decripting, for me how do I change this?
pes13 ps3, any chance to get and play it on the deck?
Ay, Do Any of You Know What to Do For PSN on Black Ops III?

Make sure you eject/ unmount Iso files from Windows before you use patcher software

I have a small issue, whenever i try to parse games with steam rom manager it doesnt even detect that the games are here, any explanations ?
are the game roms in the correct rom folder ?
also what rom format are you using ?
@@ED4T yes they are in the right rom thingy and wdym rom format ? I dont see what you mean
Are they ISO format or a folder type ?

how do we install dlc for game?
Whenever I try to put the extracted file into PCS3 it’ll act as if the game doesn’t exist and it can’t find the file
You need run EmuDeck first then boot into steam gaming mode after you back to desktop mode it will show up in RPCS3

Thanks for the vid! I've a question... For some reason my Emulators are not loading up like they normally do on my Steam Deck.
On the "play" screen on the Steam page if I click it Steam tries to load it for a second but then returns to the play screen... I don't think it's the actual emulators/roms having the issue but Steam itself. Might you know a fix for that?
Thanks again for the vid! :)
have you try to reboot the deck? It. sounds like a glitch with Steam OS.
@@ED4T Yes, I've tried that a couple times it hasn't fixed it yet... I will keep trying some things.
@@MANNY100123 Try setting the compatibility layer to Steam Linux Runtime. For whatever reason, the emulators, when shown on your Steam Library, use Proton by default even though most of the emulators are Flatpaks or Appimages which run natively on Linux. Those apps don't need Wine or Proton to work.
I dont know if you still have this issue but i had the same problem and its because i had set the installation file as the steam app instead of the actual application itself
Where did you get your ISO file from? I have tried 3 different ISO's and every time it tells me the ISO file is invalid.
Make sure you eject/unmount iso before using patcher tools
Hey i ran iso crypto and it gave me a .enc file instead of a dec.iso one will this still work?
If not what do i do to get the dec.iso?
if you get .enc that means your iso have been decrypted before, you dont need to do it again
