i spent the entire video wondering when the father as a personality is going to make sense to me. it's almost like you came out with this character before he was mature. which makes sense, as all characters mature. it doesn't make sense how he immediately fluctuates between having the balls to drink from a water bottle and then getting belted on all fours. the transitions of emotion feel very shallow, but you present the character as if he is very deeply torn. i think that's the crux of my comment, that the character is "supposed" to appear to be deeply torn about the strange life he lives, but he fluctuates between trying to assert/defend himself and being utterly submissive as if every time it's for the first time. maybe you didn't factor in "how long his dad has been struggling internally with the life he's living", which would have informed how the emotional transitions would have felt to him and how they would have looked to us
Frankly, I agree with all of your points. I often find that with this channel's sketches, they have one really strong joke and build a long sketch around it, finding all the ways they can present this one joke. The problem is, with the complexity and depth with which they go into these sketches, other questions begin to arise. One such question is certainly about character development. I too expected, at some point, for it to go from cuck>annoyed>regains confidence, which wouldn't only have been funny but satisfying to the audience, if not somewhat predictable. Instead, the SAME joke kept being repeated ad nauseum. The kid treats the dad like shit, the dad begrudgingly takes it. Instead of being a sketch with actual depth and dimension, we were instead treated to a study of a single joke, taken from all angles. While there is certainly value in this sort of entertainment, I do feel that it's lacking and from this channel, a common problem. Perhaps the creators will mature with time, or as their audience also ages and develops more complicated taste.
@@roseconsumption have you seen any skits, or more specifically any characters, from cer spence that satisfied your taste? "preston" and "seth" are both featured in "people who watch sports", and these are two characters I think cer spence has practiced a lot, or can relate with more spontaneously
But pretty much all times when it's with fame of the children supported by the parents it's basically the parents fault by how they've raised their kid
yeah cuz their the man of the house and they earn money. With all this power the kids become power hungry and become dominant over their parents just like their parents had when the parents were providing for them.
It needs to flash to 7 years later when the kid is no longer popular and all of his money is used up on stupid shit, and he has to become his father's assistant just to have a place to live.
Can you please make a second where the dad stands up for himself? I don't know how you could still keep the comedy in it, but if you could try, it will fill and sad little hole with some satisfaction.
I think this highlights the dangers associated with fame, the idea that when some people gain fame, and social cache, they begin to lose track of the scale of thier own ego, and the way they treat those 'beneath' them goes downward. Magnified self importance coupled with enabling behavior from underlings is a hell of a drug.
The way the dad acts in this type of situation is pretty realistic, like with being submissive and then sometimes not caring and having or trying to have dominance over his son
i have mild ptsd. i feel no emotions besides anger usually. i havent even giggled at a youtube video in years let alone cackle this fuckin hard. Spence and Ryan trying to make each other laugh is gold.
this is really dumb like i mean if he’s still a kid you could just not let him have access to your bank account which means he wouldn’t be getting paid for his tik toks lol, or not let him have access to his own if he’s old enough, if he’s an adult just don’t work for him lol
It's not acting. This is their personalities. They are embracing their fantasy of both being in a powerful position while also enjoying the submissiveness of the characters.
If I ever non-jokingly referend to my dad by his first name he would beat me into the ground... Not that I would even dare.... My dad is strong as shit😂
Im really against child abuse and rigid, narcissistic parenting, but I feel like this is gonna become reality if that whole notion of "validate your childs every single emotion in the most submissive and accomodating way" gets more popular.
