Crazy thing is around this time last year to this year. The MW's has shown out with interesting new talent on the rise in the mix that are still coming up. Calling it now by this time 2025, we're going to see a lot of these guys you mentioned ranked or mixed in that top 5.
I would venture to say almost all divisions in the past couple years have greatly improved in terms of how stacked they are and quality of competition/ big names able to become champ.. And it will only get better from here. There is so much more talent coming up and parity in all divisions than there used to be. Only divisions I can even think of that aren't stacked with a murderers row right now might be flyweight and heavyweight somehow featherweight. But even heavyweight has some good young talent now. We are about to enter the golden age of mma if the ufc doesn't mess it up by not putting the best fights and top contenders together and keeping the integrity of the sport.
After Gastelum and Whitaker 1 Izzy had 5 amazingly boring title defenses until Poatan came along. Then after knocking out Alex Izzy got schooled for 5 rounds by Strickland. The division is open and Adesanya is chosing to stay on the sidelines which will allow other contenders to climb up the rankings.
