Getting behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated is most definitely reckless, in my opinion. Granted, she may have been escaping him, but as Dr. Grande said, intoxication is not a defence.
But was her intention at the time just to defend herself, if you wan to get away from torture or murder surely that one is a valid reason to drive drunk versus trying to run away on foot in the snow with a much stronger, perhaps faster guy after you?
@@openorwap5412 She didn't do it because she was drunk, she most likely did it because he was trying to harm her. So drunk isn't the defense or that relevant. She didn't even actually drive of the property it seems.
@@Iflie She could've locked the door (as he was coming around to the driver's side). Then after he was no longer in front of her vehicle, drive away. How do you not know you've ran someone over with your vehicle? Preposterous
@@celeca7 Don't keys work from a distance these days? Couldn't he just have used a back up key to unlock it? I think if she hadn't knocked him over with the car she would have driven away, but she stayed....because on some level she knew he was neutralized. I don't think she meant to kill him though, she probably slept in the guestroom with the door locked expecting to find him in their bedroom in the morning.
With the compacted snow and snowbanks it's completely plausible she may not have known she ran over him... It's very rough and bumpy when you're driving over snow and ice.
As someone who was in a violent relationship, she probably was just in get the hell away mode and probably didn't think she actually hurt him badly when she struck him. Plus, knowing he was also going to be mad that she was trying to leave and hit him (when he was already being violent) probably made her scared to stay and even check. If she was also intoxicated, that probably didn't help. I think the jury made the right decision as well.
This case should have never gone to trial. It's clearly a case of a battered, choked, & terrified woman trying to escape her drunk & homicidal husband. Lori accidentally ran over him while trying to save her own life. I was in a similar situation with my alcoholic ex- husband. He choked me so hard that his entire palm print, including his fingers, left bruises on my neck. My boss saw this black & blue handprint on my neck the next morning at work & intervened.
My peer specialist calls her ex her "Wasband." 😂 I'm glad you got out of that situation. My mother did too. I have no idea what she experienced, though, because she almost never spoke of it. I think I learned what little I know from my brother.
Thank you to your boss for possibly saving your life. I too have been choked and abused. I agree with you and believe Lori was in survival mode, which likely caused her brain to only focus on escaping and everything that occurred during those escape moment were a blur.
LOL! Love your closing comments :-) And I agree with your analysis although she may truly not have realized she killed him until she kept checking her security cameras and saw that he didn't move. Regardless, I agree that a jury would not have convicted her because there is enough reasonable doubt and she had every reason to fear for her life.
Wow Lori needs an Oscar. She was perfectly in alignment with her story. She showed no signs, zero signs of deception. I wish you knew about body language. If you did - you would know that her story made perfect sense. Not one lie. Everything she said checked out. I don't care how intelligent someone is. If they intentionally killed someone, they would not be able to keep their story straight. She loped along telling the truth all the way. And one last thing. Her genuine grief in that camera footage, the way she was when she discovered her abusive alcoholic husband dead was heartbreaking. If she did knowingly do this then by goodness get this woman an Oscar 🎉🎉🎉
I call alcohol "anger juice" because nearly everyone who consumes alcohol has a level of alcohol consumption which will lead them to do and say things which they never would while sober, and that includes violence.
I couldn’t leave my loved one face down in the snow. I don’t often differ with your assessments, but in this case, I believe this woman committed murder and I don’t think it was a spur of the moment situation. Thank you for an interesting observation.
If she lied about running into her husband, and she was intoxicated, then those point to her guilt. The fact that she didn't move her husband to see if he was okay is also suspicious. How drunk was she? Could he have been saved? What was the police history of his violent behavior, not just her word on the matter? Was a medical exam performed on her to show she was telling the truth about the violence that night? For me, there are more questions than answers. If the police and DA didn't answer any of these questions for the jury, then it's scarcely any wonder she was found not guilty.
I watched some of the trial and yes, she had bruises on her chest. Those things were looked into and part of the trial. She actually did not know she hit him. She was trying to get away from him.
@MakerInMotion no kidding. The disparity between the sexes being held to the same standards and the reality of the matter worsens. Never mind that we're supposed to all be the same and interchangeable, now. 🙄
@@MakerInMotion When women make these claims and the evidence strongly indicates murder, they are typically convicted. The key factor here was that there wasn't evidence that 1) she ran over her husband on purpose and 2) that she even knew she had run him over. The abuse wouldn't have made much difference to the judgement of most of the jurors. There was reasonable doubt because she could have run him over by accident and thought she just hit a snow bank, then not seen his body because of the snow. None of that has anything to do with her husband hitting her.

Having been in volatile situations like this I feel there's a very good chance that it was an accident that happened in all the chaos. On the other hand....
Doc could you please discuss SSSniperWolf copying Azzyland? She literally stole her identity (her Toronto accent, house tour video wearing the exact same dress and mirror). Just like in the move "Sssingle White Female". It's so creepy and disturbing. And she spent 6 years accusing Azzyland to deflect from the fact that she was the one copying. Thanks in advance 🙏
Seconded!
❤Dr Grande! Always look forward to your interesting uploads.
You are really good at breaking it down ! Being they were both intoxicated and she drove off with door open also taking into consideration she was fearful of him ! I believe it is possible she didn’t know she hit him ! Which as you pointed out is reasonable doubt ! Only 2 people would know the truth and one of them is dead.
just got done hearing your review about the case wherein the bird was speaking about details that seemed to point to the crime, and just wanted to say that you play on words about birds was FABULOUSLY funny and perfectly on spot!! Then, in this one, the play on the snow, frost, cold, ETC., THAT was also funny and well done!! I dont think I ever heard sny others that followed ths sort of review but will keep my ears open from now on... Your 'dead pan humor goes along with your emotionless manner in general, which is fine, manly, and acceptable (I come from a bunch of Germans, who are all soberminded and well...) but it got me wondering if we might ever hear you laugh out loud one day - as in, 'cut loose'? Glad we met your wife - thank you!!😂❤
The Dive Bar is a chain, at least here in western PA. It's not a dive bar, instead overpriced chain food
Hello sir. Could you please analyse the incident in Illinois where a 71 year old Joseph Cuzaba killing the 6 year old son of his tenant? As reports sau they were on very friendly terms. I'd love to hear your input on that tragedy.
The way he incorporates puns in the concluding moments of his videos never fails to make me burst into laughter!
Awesome use of metaphors, Dr. Grande! 😎
Victims of intimate partner violence often return to their batterers. Not guilty, self defense against abusive partner.
My favorite part of these videos is the "summing up" where he makes all the hilarious puns :D
Given Mark’s history of abuse, he is fortunate he lived as long as he did. Lori gave him many chances over the years and he refused to change.
She had many chances over the years to leave him. She stayed, enabled his behavior and murdered him in cold blood. Both are at fault.
It didn't seem like they were married that long, if they married in 2018.
Wow I’m here early enough to see the ppl who try to get the top comment by commenting something super general and cringe before they even watch the video. It’s like the hours just before sunrise and you hear the first birds start chirping but the birds are strange internet folk.
Omg I’m one of them now….
sounds like you watched the trial, Doc! Lori was very believable on the stand, I think it really made a difference to the case that she testified .. I'm still hoping you will cover that strange Logan Clegg case
Dr. Grande nails it.
Great wrap-up, as usual, Dr. G!!
After having viewed your older videos I like how you have improved your staging!
It's just after 11:00pm and UA-cam just notified me that this video was posted "Now." I watched it and commented four days ago. Just thought that I would let you know Dr. Grande ❣️
I hope everyone who sees this has a great day.much love to you all❤
Well i saw it lol im watching this video before i head to work so i appreciate the comment :)
Thank you and the same to you. 😊
Thank you!! And the very same from me to you and all in this “community.” 🙏🏼💕🙂
Sounds like it was an accident but Lorri wanted to sleep off her intoxication before reporting it.
Agreed 💯
Wanted to fake that she didn't know what happened even though she murdered him
@@BkBk-gy6vr exactly
This whole case leaves me feeling cold, I don't know why 🥶
I really enjoy and look forward to all your content Dr. All your efforts are greatly appreciated. I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.
Great analysis and final thoughts!
Thank you, Dr. Grande.❤😊
Dr
Grande I don't know why I enjoy your videos so much. Is the reason because of your coverage and comment of the video or your humor. Not sure. Ceci’
Love your play on words!!!
@@Iflie 🤦🏽♀️
Beautiful closing Dr Grande!🤠💕🤪
As someone who was in a violent relationship, she probably was just in get the hell away mode and probably didn't think she actually hurt him badly when she struck him. Plus, knowing he was also going to be mad that she was trying to leave and hit him (when he was already being violent) probably made her scared to stay and even check. If she was also intoxicated, that probably didn't help. I think the jury made the right decision as well.
Love your closing remarks. 😉
All the snow and freezing references left me laughing.😅
Your snowball puns at the end cracked me up so hard 🤣😅
This case should have never gone to trial. It's clearly a case of a battered, choked, & terrified woman trying to escape her drunk & homicidal husband. Lori accidentally ran over him while trying to save her own life. I was in a similar situation with my alcoholic ex- husband. He choked me so hard that his entire palm print, including his fingers, left bruises on my neck. My boss saw this black & blue handprint on my neck the next morning at work & intervened.
My peer specialist calls her ex her "Wasband." 😂
I'm glad you got out of that situation. My mother did too. I have no idea what she experienced, though, because she almost never spoke of it. I think I learned what little I know from my brother.
I agree!
Thank you to your boss for possibly saving your life. I too have been choked and abused. I agree with you and believe Lori was in survival mode, which likely caused her brain to only focus on escaping and everything that occurred during those escape moment were a blur.
Should be in jail the rest of her life
@traybern you are wrong! Sorry but you do not know what anyone knows or does not know. You are speculating.
Why is it that other people have to go to prison when accidentally killing others, yet she doesn’t? Because he was being mean?
Love the references to cold in the end. 😂
LOL! Love your closing comments :-) And I agree with your analysis although she may truly not have realized she killed him until she kept checking her security cameras and saw that he didn't move. Regardless, I agree that a jury would not have convicted her because there is enough reasonable doubt and she had every reason to fear for her life.
Always interesting
Thank you
Hi, Dr. Grande. Can you please do a video about the author Marion Zimmer Bradley?
I watched her testimony at trial. The jury absolutely got it correct! She was very believable!
Honestly my main questions is why were they having dinner at 4.15 in the afternoon
Many people eat around that time, whether by necessity like how early their days begin, busy schedules, or work shifts. ✌️
YESSSS? And I thought this was another case involving a police officer at a party.
How do you do it! That wrap up was pristine.
I’m not gonna lie. I’m glad she is not in prison. She WAS in a prison but, no more.
Alcoholism destroys so many lives
What was his blood alcohol content
I call alcohol "anger juice" because nearly everyone who consumes alcohol has a level of alcohol consumption which will lead them to do and say things which they never would while sober, and that includes violence.
I don’t understand why people who know that they turn violent when they drink would drink
I couldn’t leave my loved one face down in the snow. I don’t often differ with your assessments, but in this case, I believe this woman committed murder and I don’t think it was a spur of the moment situation. Thank you for an interesting observation.
Hello Dr. Grande......hahaha regarding the snow ball comment good one! 😊. I agree w/ u ....I'm glad she wasn't guilty.....!
Yes 😮 You're right! I wonder if she was examined for injuries and how many times the police were called to their residence
I watched some of the trial and yes, she had bruises on her chest. Those things were looked into and part of the trial. She actually did not know she hit him. She was trying to get away from him.
If mere allegations of abuse are allowed to become a license to kill, that will replace divorce as the way women end marriages.
Well when all is said and done the world is a better place without the Marks of this world. I live with one of these. Flies into a temper over everything and nothing. A narcissist of note and an alcoholic that subjects me to his 2nd hand smoke. Hides his true nature especially to his family that he adores but keeps the worst of his violence and putrid behaviour for me. By the time you read this, I could well die as Laurie almost did.
Drunk or not, I believe that the moment a man gets a lady in a chokehold all his rights - including to life - are gone.
So if a women is stabbing a child and a man then places her in a chokehold, his life is forfeit. I can't even with people like you
What if she is stabbing him?
@hardtakeoff no one was stabbing anyone in this situation
@ahabcolerchat9404 What are u even talking about? You are describing an imaginary situation that has nothing to do with the details of the case at hand.
That was a lot of great puns.
Very interesting case, there is a lot to it!
Curious how long a person can claim self-defense in a situation where they are not leaving the situation.
It is interesting how many different ways the case can be interpreted.
My understanding was that Lori did went inside the house to retrieve her glasses / contact lenses.
2:38 Unsure the status of, 'The Dive Bar", 5:50 Confirmed after video that indeed it's a dive bar.
Seems very likely she knew she killed him & didn't care. Too bad prosecution was not effective🧊❄️Thanks Dr G😊💙💙
Did you watch the trial?
@@Cat-qo3ht Did you? What is your point exactly?
This is a clear cut case of self defense. The prosecutor must have snuffed a lot of "snow" to think this was a winnable case.
Guilty of murder
The bar for convicting women is higher
Reminds me of the cop that was bumped into a snow bank and passed - but did he pass judgement? We will see😮😮😮Murder is a crime. Self defense is self defense.😊
Oh dear, the evils of alcohol.
Reminds me of the Read/O'Keefe case. Car and snow as weapons?
Icy what you’re doing there, Dr. G. ⛄️
She should have certainly been acquitted!! What kind of evidence is that!? The truck had fibers from his jeans? How do we know he wasn't hit in the road and stumbled back in to his driveway before collapsing? Or that the gentleman from the bar did not go the mark's home and confront him for choking his wife in public? This whole case is ridiculous with no actual evidence.
I’m so glad I live in Madison…the rest of this state is a mess
