Yeah... D'Sparil - experienced, well trained, good at what he does. Spider Mastermind - smart, cybernetically enhanced, has a genetically spliced vulkan-cannon with an unlimited ammo supply. It'll come down to who wants it most. :D But class plays a role in this fight - if D'Sparil starts on his serpent, Spider Mastermind should start in her web. But she didn't. Let that be a lesson to us all.
He's doing that little damage because D'sparil is a boss lol. civvie doesn't know what he's talking about. The monsters in heretic are no more bullet sponges than Doom's
@@Razumen I mean, bullet sponginess wasn't the thing Civvie hated about them, there was also attacks (cough hack Iron Lich) and the fact he was playing on Black Plague.
@@heatedchocolate2 Iron Liches are easy, only attack that causes trouble of the tornado, and that's easily neutered with the Shadowsphere. @@Razumen I mean, if you've seen the video, it clearly wasn't his first time playing it, iirc he'd said he had beaten the game on Smite-Meister before. a lot of people mentioning teleport but I'm not entirely sure that could be beneficial to D'sparil's tactics. it will cut the chaingun but the fight was on open arena anyway.
worth to remember that D'sparil isn't just the character himself but the teleport platforms as well and the ability to teleport between them. and as the openness of the map plays advantage for him in the fight, it should also be considered to be part of D'sparil as a boss.
It's interesting to note that both the Maulotaur and D'Sparil won the fights with their Doom equivalents... yet most people would always attest to Doom being much harder.
i played heritic and hexen as well and those are hard fights but i do find the doom bosses harder mastermind is worse than the cyberdemon with its hit scanner weapon heritic was easier to me in the long run since splash damagebosses or hit scanners werent really a thing on those 2
The outcome went exactly how I expected it to: Spider-Demon guns down D’Sparil on the serpent, then is seemingly dominating D’Sparil solo. But once D’Sparil starts summoning his Disciples, the Spider-Demon can’t handle the numbers. Oddly enough, it ended up being closer than I thought at the end.
Ah, I see what you mean (translate). Unfortunately, monsters which have multiple forms (only D'Sparil in this mod) don't show their health properly when they die and rise into second form. If I remember correctly, first D'Sparil form have 2000 health, and second have 3000. So, when he dies and resurrects, the surplus health don't show (but he has got this health). Only when he is damaged below 2000 the bar will show this (because it is "locked" on the default health of first form = 2000). Also, his spawns add their health to the bar, so when he spawns wizards, he's health bar will increase, and when they die (they got some time limit, around 30 seconds) it shows as D'Sparil is loosing health. That may be not perfect, but I left it as that. Cheers!
Taking a break after doing some Doom2 maps pistol start, so I relaxed and I make some experiments with the arena mode ;) I have a question though: I made the cyberdemon battle with some ettins, since I wanted to see him gibbing them, and to my surprise that did not happen. By making more experiments I noticed that the Cyberdemon ONLY gibs VERY weak enemies, such as the Heretic Gargoyles and Zombiemen and shotgunners. Why does this happen? Because AFAIK the cybie's rocket deals a maximum of 160, and splash damage deals a maximum of 128, making a total of 288. Ettins have 175HP, therefore they should have been gibbed. Why it didn't happen, since Ettins do have gibbing animations?
To gib, a single source of damage needs to do enough damage to run their health down to negative their maximum. The rocket's raw damage and splash damage count as separate sources, just like each individual bullet from an SSG would, so It doesn't gib.
You can kill easily that masterminded-spider with 3 shots of the BFG, but you can not kill D'sparil with just 3 shots of Phoenix Rod. Have you ever tried how it is hard to kill D'sparil?
You can actually easily kill the spiderdemon with a single BFG shot if you do it at melee range, as can be seen here: ua-cam.com/video/SaRT5IkDAiw/v-deo.html I wouldn't even consider it a real boss, at least the versions we see in the Doom base-game. Some mods do place the spiders in tricky positions that make them a lot harder, like places where you can't fire a melee BFG Shot, but even there, they aren't much of a problem most of the time.
@@pantheman2842 The only thing you can do is to use tome of power. But Heretic itself is a very unbalanced game about the weapons and bosses. The Spider Mastermind OWNED the first phase. So, D'Sparil called clones to get the upper hand. Close fight indeed.
