- Hotline Miami is a depraved, deranged, disgusting, disturbing, and ultra-violent video game.
It will make you vomit with glee.
I couldn't find and gameplay footage online, so here is the 1st part of it, without the tutorial, 3 chapters. I had already played it a little bit and unlocked some masks and weapons beforehand.
The game runs at 1200*768 pixels fullsceen, so I had to reduce the scale a teensy bit to make it fit in 720p.
For the people who think this game is boring, it's because this player is just playing _really_ slowly.
Faster players who've been playing for a long time play fast and hard, and it's extremely fun to watch them. Like watching a Quake 3 tournament. When you're watching your unskilled friends play, it's rather boring, but when you're watching pros at it, it's incredible.

This game is the essence of what videogames are about and can be: demanding mechanics, a story that is told through gameplay, awesome art style and soundtrack. Put together, this is what "more than the sum of it's parts" means. Guess i would call it art!
There is a beautiful uniqueness about this game in today's age

I love the soundtrack to this game. It's also really good too. Imagine if this game came out for NES back in the days, it could be one of the all time great classic. There would be a movie base on this already, lol.

Dude I rember watching my brother play this back in 2013 and 2014. And he got so exited when he found out about number 2 and wanted to get it. I remember his exact reaction: “Wait. No way…. no way! They made a number 2! No way! Bro we have to get this now!” Ahh good times
This game seems to demand perfection. After watching your vid here I feel like buying it even more.
The aesthetics of the gameplay, graphics, story, and progression makes me go wee.
I remember when i was like 7 and my uncle always played this. Im 14 now and looking back at this game is such nostalgia.
This game is twisted, psychotic, ultra violent and... no other words describe it.. It's like Clockwork orange, manhunt, postal and every contreversial game mixed into one, it's so mindless, and infuriatingly hard, but the soundtrack will ease your frustration because it's that good to listen to, sometimes I just sit at the start of the level and listen to the music. I recommend this game to anyone who has patience and has no reservations when it comes to splattering someones brains all over the place with a 12gauge

Gor Gylka yes, but cell shading isn't a thing that makes the games look better. It isn't like anisotrophic filtering or anti aliasing.

I loved this game. It really has an intangible quality (beyond the gameplay) that addicted me to it. It just goes to show that you don't need photo-realistic graphics to create an interesting atmosphere. This game's got that in spades.

For the graphics.. I always say: "Playing a game for its graphics is like watching a porn movie for its story".. However, it could be more integrated than 16-bit graphics mode, and it would be more interactive with smarter AI.

After watching this, I decided to give the game a try. That was about a year ago.
Today, I just finished a level from the second game. Both games are now two of my all time favorite video games. Period.
If you're watching this, and haven't played it yet, if you're ready for, even though very difficult, an extremely stylish, enjoyable, and just overall awesome experience, get this game! And the sequel too, it's incredible as well.
One of my favourites the soundtrack is so hypnotic and the gameplay just keeps you going outstanding flow.

Y'know what sucked for me? I beat Hotline Miami, and then a year later I beat Hotline Miami 2. And oh boy, is Hotline Miami 2 waaaaay harder. I'm still not done with the hard mode. But after I beat Hotline Miami 2, I went back to Hotline Miami, and I beat it all in one sitting. 4 hours. It was so damn easy for me.
