    This was amazing.
    The HOURS of practice time must be astounding to achieve such precision.

    I was in The Hawthorne Muchachos in the mid 1970s. Jeff Kievit was the horn line Instructor, as he "aged out" the year prior. He was one of the best trumpet players I've ever heard, still to this Day. I remember the Show we did was extremely difficult with parts in 5/4 time. The left & right sides of the Corps had to hear each other to maintain synchronization. At one show, the bus with the uniforms didn't show up in time & we marched onto the field in our shorts & t-shirts. Then the worst possible thing happened. That field had an echo bouncing off the tall stadium walls in front of us. Both horn & drum acoustics coming back to our ears. I was on the right side. When listening to "synch" with the left side on the field, the guys couldn't decipher the actual playing vs the echos. We fell completely apart & at that point there was no turning back. After our performance there was barely any applause. The Top Secret Corps would've been compared to The Caballeros Senior Drum Corps. Those guys practice 12 hours/day & hold full time Day jobs. I am always amazed by their performances!

      Thank for that great story. I love drum corps stories! Do you know the current president of DCA was a Muchacho? John Carr, who marched with them about that same time. I used to work with him promoting The March Of Champions in Kingston NY. The Cabs are still incredible but if you want to experience old school drum corps you have to check out the Cabs Alumni corps. They're always the highlight of every show they play. Thanks for watching!!

    Two of the best drum lines in the world together 😎
    Military bands could be an interesting sideline for you Bill 😁
    Check out The Massed Pipes and Drum at The Edinburgh Tattoo.

      My father was a big fan of pipe and drum bands and had a bunch of vinyl's (which now belong to me). I would love to check out this Edinburgh Tattoo since I've heard so much about it. I would love to react to drum corps performances but I don't think there is much of an audience for it.

    Hi Bill, my American Sinterklaas!🤣🤣I was surprised to see you reacting to this drum video but I don't mind it at all haha. I am a great fan of Top Secret. Imho they are the best of the
    best! You can hear them shout Top Secret in the beginning! They have performed at several Edinburgh Military Tattoos, which I always watch on the BBC as it sadly too expensive for me to go to Scotland. Top Secret always find new ways to entertain the public. They have performed in black light so all you can see is their white drumsticks and their white musketeer feathers. It is fantastic to watch and sometimes they have fire coming out of their sticks. They also use the flagpoles to drum onto. But their precision is phenomenal! Did you noticed that their snare drums are on the same level whether the drummer is small of large? And their white stockings also? Always a joy to watch. Greetings!

    • @BemusingBill
      @BemusingBill  5 місяців тому

      I'm so glad you're a fan! It's all about precision with Top Secret. If you don't watch and just listen you can hear how perfectly in synch they are with each other. And the Royal Marines are no joke either! You have to be to perform with TS! Yes, a modern snare line and tenor line will have all their drums match in height no matter how tall or short the drummer is not only for the visual, but for when they play each others drum. So cool! Love those stockings and those big ostrich plumes! Much love to you! Thankk you for watching!🤘❤️

    That was so much fun. Thanks to Iris for suggesting this video. I was smiling all the way through. It looked to me like Top Secret was using in ears. I couldn't see if the Royal Marines were or not. Makes sense that they would and just wondering if that is SOP for all drum corps these days?

    • @BemusingBill
      @BemusingBill  5 місяців тому +1

      That really was fun! I don't know if that's something all drum corps use these days but it's a good idea to reduce hearing damage. When I was on a bass drum line we would practice indoors and my left ear would go numb from the volume. That's when I started using ear plugs.I don't know if they are using them as monitors, or if they are hearing a metronome to keep time or they are for protection. I'm so happy you enjoyed that!❤️

    Great reaction again, I love drummers. I looked to see if you had already responded to Junna, which you haven't yet.
    Junna does a drum cover of the group DragonForce which should definitely be seen and listened to, it will blow your mind.
    I am curious for your reaction!

      @@BemusingBill Junna is Japanese who started playing drums at the age of 15, if you see her playing drums you would say that she has been playing drums from a very young age.
      In the drum cover you would think she is very young, but there she is 23 years old.
