If you’re like me, the prospect of sleeping under a weighted blanket can be daunting. What will it feel like? Will I be able to move around?
Well, I tried one for three nights. And it worked. The weighted blanket helped with my anxiety and also helped me sleep better.

So what does a weighted blanket feel like? As you can probably guess, it is heavy. It feels almost like a bunch of bean bags or one of those heavy lead vests you wear when your dentist gives you an X-ray.
If you want to find the right sized weighted blanket for you, it should be about 10 percent of your bodyweight, plus or minus a few pounds. I’m a larger guy, so my weighted blanket was 25 lb. You do the math…
Also, you might sleep hot under a weighted blanket. There is heavy fill in most blankets, and it might make you overheat. I will note that I am a hot sleeper, but I think many people will feel the same.
I tried a Layla weighted blanket for three nights. It is a soft, comfortable, weighted blanket with one smooth side.
On the first night, I did have trouble moving around. The blanket felt heavy, and it held me back as I was changing positions. I actually felt like I slept worse.
On the second night, I had fewer issues. I was still woken up a few times when I tried to move around. However, I did start to sleep a bit better.
Finally, on the third night, I felt fantastic. I did not wake up at all, and I don’t think I moved around that night. I woke up feeling rested, and my normal morning anxiety was not there.
Studies have suggested that weighted blankets might work by something called deep tissue pressure. This increases serotonin and dopamine ("feel good" chemicals) while cutting down on the stress hormone cortisol. Theoretically, this helps you relax and increases feelings of wellbeing.
Because of this, weighted blankets are sometimes recommended for those with ADHD, anxiety, and insomnia. That being said, do consult a doctor before use.

First night of using weighted blanket I got off to sleep .... even after waking a couple of times I got back to sleep straight away.
This was following 5 weeks of chronic insomnia... some nights I barely slept for an hour. Just love it.
When I got a weighted blanket, I wasn't massively impressed at first. It took about a week to work for me, but now I wouldn't be without it. Definitely sleeping way better.

I got a blanket with a warm side and a cool side at 15lb I probably should have gotten 12. It helps me sleep better when my partner isn't home. And it definitely helps me when im fighting my anxiety. As a combo
/mostly side sleepy it does take a bit to get used to the lack of mobility but it will soon give you the snug as a bug in a rug feeling. Thank you for your review and feedback on the blankets. I really appreciate the science
I slept like a BABY the first night. I cocoon as a sleeper so I wrapped myself up and was out for the count. I keep my room COLD at night so I didn’t overheat.

Amazon has a navy weighted blanket full/queen size for $20!! The seller is “Degrees of comfort” I love mine and can’t believe I found such a big one for such a good price. I’ve had it for over a month and still holding up.
I don’t know if the price is due to overstock or if it’s always that price.
We Nordic people slept with weighted blankets for 1000’s of years. They’re called animal hides!

I have ADD. Sleep as been a struggle pretty much my entire life. Tried almost everything nothing really worked except Benzodiazepines.
I don't want to be on addictive medication so... Yeah back to bad nights it is. Tomorrow my weighted blanket arrives and I'm really excited about.. a blanket.

I use it my first 🌃 and it worcks I fall a 💤 at 9 pm and got up St 4am and I did not toss and turn through the night the weighted blanket work on the first night for me and I love it

Hi, thank you for the video. I once bought a weighted blanket and I had to return it because I woke with like sand all over my bed. Do all weighted blankets do this?
I have a weighted blanket. I use it over my lightweight bedspread, should I just use the blanket on top of my body ? Or keep it the way I’ve been using it ? Some nights it takes me a while to get to sleep
