    A mattress topper is a great way to spruce up an existing mattress without having to buy a new mattress, and it can add that pressure relief or contouring that has been missing. There are many quality mattress toppers out there that could be the perfect addition to a mattress and, out of the toppers I have reviewed, there are five that really stand out among the rest.

    If you are looking for a mattress topper, there are a few things you should consider:
    1. Think about what firmness and feel you want.
    2. Consider whether this is going to be a durable mattress topper.
    3. Investigate whether it is going to be a cooling mattress topper or make you sleep hot.
    If you want a mattress topper for hot sleepers, take a look at the Layla mattress topper. It features copper-infused memory foam along with Thermogel in the cover. You should be sleeping cool on the Layla. Those who want a durable mattress topper should consider the Avocado mattress topper. It features natural latex, which should last for a good amount of time. The Avocado should be a good long-term investment.
    Fans of fluffy toppers should like the Parachute Down Feather Bed. It contains down and feathers and has a good amount of body. If you're looking to add a pillow-top feel to your mattress, check it out. The Dreamfoam should be a good option for those who want to save some money. It is the most affordable mattress topper on this list. It is a very soft mattress topper sold for a value price.

    Enjoy your description of the difference toppers. I'm 82 - 5'2; and weigh 110. My mattress is 3 years old but really firm - too firm. I wake up in the middle of the night with discomfort in my hips, knees and shoulders. I turn from one side to the other. I do not want to sleep hot. And I sleep alone. Thanks for taking the time to give me some advise.

    What would be a good mattress topper for an air bed? I sleep on a Lightspeed airbed which is great but I want to soften the surface up just a bit. I can't stand the smell of memory foam so I'm only considering latex, a Japanese futon style pad, or polyester fill. But I am not sure what to try, and am concerned about having to return some big heavy topper if it doesnt work out.
    I tend to sleep on my side and weigh less than 150 lbs. Thanks.

    I purchased the Sleep on Latex 3" soft topper. Its dunlop latex so sleeps very cool and with the three inches of latex provides some nice pressure relief to my firmer mattress. Mattress Clarity should look into this company and do some reviews. The latex comes from Sri Lanka and produced the USA! Thanks for sharing these other options.

    I just spent two months waiting for a tempurpedic mattress. They ran out of the one I ordered....so I got an upgrade, but they only had a medium. I had ordered a firm... but was so tired of waiting I told them to send it:) but. Sure enough... it's too soft. I'm a side sleeper but really like firm... and I'm feeling it in my back. Do you have a firming mattress topper recommendation that would work with tempurpedic? Thank you!!

    Hi there, thanks so much for posting your wonderful guide. I am interested in the Avacado Green brand, as it is eco-friendly and non-toxic, however, as stated the price point is high so I am considering just a topper without a mattress. Would you say the Avacado Green topper thick enough that when placed directly on a wooden-slatted bedframe, the bedframe would not be felt through it? Thanks in advance for your guidance :)

    Hi Marten,
    I currently bought a Casper Wave hybrid and used it for a little more than a year, but I realized its a bit too soft for my back and I start getting back pain when I woke up in the morning. I wonder if you have any good recommendations for me such as a specific brand of a firmer mattress topper or an other solution would be helpful. I am a side sleeper and preferably want a cooler topper. Thanks again. Your opinion would be highly appreciated!

    Looking for a mattress topper to use on top of the existing foam seat cushions in our camper. Sleeping on them alone hurts my back, using a camping mattress on top helps a little. We are going to try a soft foam mattress to see how that helps the situation. Wondering what you recommend. I typically sleep on my side to avoid snoring. My Sleep Number bed at home so far is the best sleep and best for back pain. Storage space in the camper is very limited. We considered a 2"-3" tri-fold mattress topper but leary on buying one afraid it won't be much better. All recommendations are appreciated.

    I just spoke to a Saatva rep and they told me Graphite and Latex toppers are super different feels. My mattress is firm and the topper I have is 3" blue with holes memory foam from Amazon and way too soft, I feel all out of alignment when I wake up. Which product would you recommend out of the two, latex or graphite topper? I sleep on my side, I am 6' and around 165 lbs.

    Currently just switched to a platform bed and got rid of our box spring. We've found that our mattress is similar to sleeping on a 2x4. 😂 We would like to add something to make is more comfortable without being hot or cumbersome. What do you think? (Even if it's not covered in this video?)

      Oh, we've had the 2x4 experience! It's the worst.
      Honestly, we would look at the Layla mattress topper. It is very comfortable and one of the cooler sleeping toppers we've tried. I should soften up your mattress quite a bit without making you sleep hot.

      Hey Joe! It sounds like the mattress is too firm for you when you are on your side. Do you mind if I ask your weight? Sometimes when lighter people side sleep on the Purple their weight doesn't really activate that Purple Grid. That means they don't quite enough pressure relief.

      Hey thanks so much for taking the time to answer!
      I’m a fairly muscular 6ft 210lbs and I feel my shoulder dipping really far down into the mattress(much further than it did in my Casper) so that’s why I’m so confused as to why this occurring. I even went back to the Casper for one night and the issue was gone, but immediately back the next night on the purple 4. Was considering trying either a pillow topper or a latex topper. I don’t like the stuck feeling of memory. Do u think either of those could help?
      Btw I got the purple as a return at a discount, so it can’t be returned. That’s why I’m so eager to make it work. Thanks again for any input.

I am a tiny bit heavier than my husband and I am bottom heavy so I feel like we need something to relieve pressure. What do you recommend? Our current bed is a thin pillow top

      Hey! If you're looking for good pressure relief, I would take a look at the ViscoSoft memory foam topper or maybe even the TEMPUR-Topper Supreme. Also, if you want a bit of support as well, the Saatva could work well.

    Hi, I have some questions as i'm about to pick a topper and there are so many options. First I'm concerned if memory foam is really safe for the health as my kiddo still sleeps with me. I was looking into latex but some reviews say they smell bad? And after they roll them out the smell doesn't go away for long time. Also, as i occasionally have issues with my hip what should I consider. Thanks.

    I’m so confused with this bedding thing... 2 brand new king size beds in a years time... Nectar is a great bed but was too hard.. Other bed is luxury firm hybrid which is sinking in already (could be the brand).
    I’m a heavy girl that travels for a living so sleeping on hotel beds mostly (some are fantastic... firm with Cush) I don’t like to be hot whatsoever, I don’t like the sinking in feeling (to hard to roll over and get out of the hole you’ve created)... I do like firmness with a bit of cush to it. So now I need to decide which bed to put a topper on to get the feel I so badly
    want. The more I research the more confused I get. I’m a side sleeper. Can you give me some Help.
    Please and Thank You!

      So, in terms of toppers, it sounds like you'll need something with latex to give you the bounce you need. Something like the Birch or Avocado also have wool for a bit of softness. However, if you found the Nectar to be too firm, these might be too firm for you. You might want something with responsive foam such as the Tuft and Needle. You like firmness, but this will give you just a bit of that cush you are looking for. Pairing this with a firmer innerspring mattress or hybrid could be a good idea.

    Hi! I’m a side sleeper, I recently bought the avocado mattress (I haven’t received it yet), and I’m worried it might be too firm for me as a side sleeper. I love the topper from them, but it’s out of my price range. I would love something non toxic, do you think the down topper is a good option for a side sleeper?

    Hi Martin I love your reviews! I'll be moving to college soon. My mattress I will be sleeping on has a dimension of 78" L x 31"W and is very firm. I am a slide sleeper and am interested in the Saatva Matress topper which has a dimension of 75"L x 38"W. Is the 7" width disparity something I should avoid?? I am having trouble finding a topper that fits the dimensions of my mattress. Thank you!

    I'm a side sleeper - I have the purple 3 hybrid.. TOO FIRM. My shoulders, hips and even knees hurt! I need a soft topper. I don't like sleeping hot, I also don't like squishing in your topper where you can't roll out of bed lol. A cover would be nice too!

    Thanks for the info. I tend to sleep in all positions, changing from stomach to side to back to fetal. Which one of these would be the best for me overall you think? My last one got so hot and I sunk too far into it, but I only weigh about 150. I took it off and now wake up with stiff and sore joints. Thanks

    We previously had a tempurpedic mattress topper that we loved. It did get warm though. How does other memory foam toppers you reviewed here compare the the feel (not heat) of a tempurpedic topper?

    • @Mattressclarity
      @Mattressclarity  4 роки тому

      Out of these toppers, the Layla has the closest thing to that TempurPedic feel. However, it isn't as thick or slow-moving as Tempur-Pedic. The Saatva will have just a bit of that slow-moving memory foam feel right on top too.

    Hi, what kind of mattress topper can make my old mattress firmer?

  • @Hadassah7000
    @Hadassah7000 Рік тому

    Hello, I would like a recommendation please. I'm a lightweight side sleeper with shoulder pain that seems to be caused by sleeping on my side but I can't sleep on my back. I tried the Lucid 3 inch gel foam and it made my shoulders feel even weirder. They still had pain plus numbness. I tried sleeping on my back and sank in way too far, spine was not straight. My mattress is a Sealy everbright which we bought because we thought it was plenty soft. But after three years I am realizing, hey, I still have shoulder pain. I had stopped sleeping on my right side because it was painful but now the left side has gotten painful too. So I heard on Healthline that for shoulder pain you actually shouldn't go for a softer mattress but a balanced like maybe 5/10 firmness. But you want cradling support. Where do we find that? Am I better off mattress shopping than trying to fix it with a topper? I live in Canada by the way.

Right now ive got a walmart memory foam matress flipped upside down to its more sturdy side but the problem comes where if slept on one position too long it goes through a sort of "shape-lock" and i have to go to the opposite side where its firmer.

    I recently purchased a new firm mattress. I find that the memory foam retains a lot heat that I find uncomfortable. In addition, I often wake up with back pain/tightness. I sleep sort of half on my side and stomach. I am a BIG guy. I am torn on what would be the best mattress topper to help cool my sleeping experience and help reduce back stiffness. Thanks!

    • @Mattressclarity
      @Mattressclarity  4 роки тому

      Hello! Thanks for reaching out.
      In general, memory foam can sleep really hot. I've definitely dealt with this issue myself. When it comes to sleeping cool, latex is, in general, a better bet. However, some memory foam mattresses and toppers feature a gel or copper infusion to address this issue.
      If you were just a side sleeper, I would say the ViscoSoft topper is a good option. It is thick and should add some excellent pressure relief to your mattress. While it is a memory foam topper, it contains gel and the memory foam is ventilated.
      However, since you are a stomach sleeper as well, you want to make sure you are getting enough support. For stomach sleeping, side sleeping, and cooling, I would take a look at the Saatva memory foam topper. It is graphite infused and has two layers. I found it to be a good match for both side and stomach.
      Sorry for the long reply, but let me know if I can help further!

    I have purchased two toppers in the last month and I dislike both of them. I want one like I got my husband. His is very dense and firm - almost hard but it responds to body contours. It is definitely not just memory foam. What do you recommend. I only want a 1 1/2 inch or 2 max.
