  • 'High Horology’ is in no small part a marketing term, but there are many excellent watches that are more affordable and equal in horology to the ‘HH’ watches with out-of-reach prices.

      I picked up a GO PanoReserve pre-owned for 6900usd box+papers in Japan back in 2022 and it was a steal. Spectacular finish and craftmanship. Mine is a 'milk tea' dial they do not make these dials on non-precious metal anymore. 2 years owning the watch i wear it every single day to work. I can never get bored of the dial. PS i do own a panorinverse as well and that is always my events* watch.

    Bill, nice video. I don’t have the exact watch but picked up a new GO Panomatic Lunar a couple of days ago. This is the green-dial reference.
    It is a stunner! Was nervous about comments on chunkiness. But IMo these complaints are overstated. The GP PML is slimmer (12.7 mm) than my Grand Seiko (13 mm) and Omega. Speedy (14 mm).

    Great picks Bill! The Bulgari octo line has me intrigued but also confused; there’s too many variations and sub-variations with movements. I am currently considering a Octo Velocissimo with a slightly modified El Primero chronograph in it and can be found for around 4000 USD used. Would love to hear your thoughts on that line.

    • @watchartsci
      @watchartsci  2 місяці тому

      Kumar, not surprised about a Bvlgari with an El Primero since LVMH owns both Zenith and Bvlgari. The Octo Velocissimo has a BVL 328 with 36,000 so/hr (5Hz). 4,000 USD isn't bad but as always I'd negotiate! (I'd probably negotiate if a watch was being given away!) So, for a Chrono, sounds ok, but I'm no fan of hi-beat or chronographs-so ask around if you know any owners. Take care, Bill

  • @FlaneurSolitaire

    Two dealbreakers for me in the GP 1966: the diamonds and the date window. A dressy watch doesn't need a date, in fact, it should never have one. It ruins the cleanness of the dial layout. I greatly admire the Nomos Lambda, I think it may be their most sophisticated design. It is just too big for me: I have tiny wrists and I generally like smaller watches. Currently, the largest watch in my collection is 36 mm and I never wear anything bigger than 38.

    • @watchartsci
      @watchartsci  2 місяці тому +2

      With small wrists Flâneur, there are a wealth of choices and fantastic deals! I know what you mean about the diamond indexes and date window. I could live with either, but would prefer not to. Take care, Bill

    • @FlaneurSolitaire
      @FlaneurSolitaire 2 місяці тому

      @@watchartsci Thank you, Bill! I'm very happy about the current industry trend back to smaller watches. One reason why Nomos is my favourite brand is that they have consistently, since their beginnings, catered to that market. My current favourite watch in my collection is the Ahoi Neomatik in 35 mm, a fantastic watch, and quite unique in that it is basically an office watch that also has a 300 m water resistance rating.

    • @watchartsci

    • @watchartsci
      @watchartsci  2 місяці тому

      I too have been looking for a World Timer, Charles-Olivier, and my choice would be a Jaeger LeCoultre Geophysic Universal Time Steel Mens Watch 503.8.T2.S Q8108420 . Around $10k. The Frederique Constant World Timer is a much better price, especially on the pre-owned / secondary market. As a brand, Frederique Constant began with a couple from The Netherlands, they moved to Switzerland, created their own movement and then were bought by Citizen, a Japanese company. Look at the dial, and while it is attractive, it might be a little difficult to read-but you might not have a problem with it. For the money, pas mal... (Where online can I find your film, Anna?)
