A few things I've learned from people needing help. One if you're having trouble with your sound not working firstly you must have Dolby digital selected under advanced in the sound menu. secondly when performing the installation if your anti viruse freaks out your need to allow the fret uninstall the program and reinstall it as it will effect the audio driver making it not work . 3rd if you're trying to watch UA-cam on your av receiver this is only a 2.1 if not even that 2.0 stereo that's the only audio UA-cam supports you'll need to use upmixing which can be done on your amp in most cases this makes fake 5.1 out of a stereo single or you can use Dolby home theater enable it and a movie profile and you should have upmixing this also goes for any movies that don't have 5.1 this also goes for Amazon prime on windows does not support 5.1 and Netflix but there is a mod for Netflix to get it working

seems to be working well! it well and truly baffles and disappoints me that this kind of issue doesn't seem to be given any attention! with my setup I was able to get Netflix and disney+ to output 5.1, but in games like middle-earth: shadow of war, it was not functional whatsoever even when it claimed to be outputting 5.1 channels! the surround sound system i have is an old Sony DAV system from 2008 which I got for an absolute bargain of a price- 50 pounds second-hand and it works flawlessly over to sling from my TV if I use something like a ps3, ps4, Xbox one, 360 or even my old as hell DVD drive connected to the TV through HDMI. even my chromecast is able to work (albeit only with plex for some reason) i don't know exactly where the issue lies, but I've got some suspicion that the developers for the audio drivers may at the very least be partially to blame. from what I could find the nvidia HD audio driver has not been updated for over a decade!! one issue I had though was that the lable for my audio device did not change to what you show in the video, but it still worked a treat regardless!
@@SirQuacksalotthe1st i'll have to give that a go! (just checked it while writing this message, seems to work nicely, great alternative for when downloading/signing in to the netflix app is not an option! ) also is there an option for making any video (like plex webapp) use 5.1 properly? also weird thing. i got the netflix app to work initially by uninstalling nvidia's hd audio driver, so i decided to try and reinstall all of my graphics and hd audio drivers and re-do the fix you showed. had a weird issue where it was saying i could not select the dolby digital saying the device was "not compatible" but after fiddling with the FX configurator it seems to work now. one issue i noticed is that the front L/R speakers appear to be bleeding into the rear L/R speakers respectively.
@@SirQuacksalotthe1st i just joined the server, but yeah unticking the "disable all enhancements" box in the effect configuration window was what allowed me to select the dolby digital option in the default format section of the sound control panel. i am going to attempt reinstalling the APO and Dolby stuff again as i think windows re-enabled driver signature enforcement and see if that fixes at least something...

seems to be working well! it well and truly baffles and disappoints me that this kind of issue doesn't seem to be given any attention!
with my setup I was able to get Netflix and disney+ to output 5.1, but in games like middle-earth: shadow of war, it was not functional whatsoever even when it claimed to be outputting 5.1 channels!
the surround sound system i have is an old Sony DAV system from 2008 which I got for an absolute bargain of a price- 50 pounds second-hand and it works flawlessly over to sling from my TV if I use something like a ps3, ps4, Xbox one, 360 or even my old as hell DVD drive connected to the TV through HDMI.
even my chromecast is able to work (albeit only with plex for some reason)
i don't know exactly where the issue lies, but I've got some suspicion that the developers for the audio drivers may at the very least be partially to blame. from what I could find the nvidia HD audio driver has not been updated for over a decade!!
one issue I had though was that the lable for my audio device did not change to what you show in the video, but it still worked a treat regardless!
for netflix chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/netflix-1080p/cankofcoohmbhfpcemhmaaeennfbnmgp
install this on chrome should make it work
@@SirQuacksalotthe1st i'll have to give that a go!
@@Joh447 that means the driver has not be properly patched you did use fx config tool
@@Joh447 please message me on discord I'll hopefully be able to fix the issue
@@SirQuacksalotthe1st i just joined the server, but yeah unticking the "disable all enhancements" box in the effect configuration window was what allowed me to select the dolby digital option in the default format section of the sound control panel.
i am going to attempt reinstalling the APO and Dolby stuff again as i think windows re-enabled driver signature enforcement and see if that fixes at least something...
