- Sheryl and Ron review the Shogun paddle by Bread & Butter. They compare it to the Filth also by Bread & Butter, and to the CRBN (Carbon) paddles. Cameo by Edward Scissorhands (aka Edward Paddlehands). ;)
Love that you all are adding so much content. I would love to hear the actual
weight of the paddles you are using…many paddles come in different weights…useful to differentiate between *balance* (weight distribution, top-heavy, etc.) and *weight* (literally, how many ounces).
Glad you like the content. My Filth weighs 7.9 oz. BnB says The Filth is 7.6 - 8.0 oz, and the Shogun is 8.0 - 8.3 oz. So my take away is the Shogun is about 0.3 oz heavier than the Filth. When I first got my Filth I weighted it up for control (near throat) to about 8.5 oz. At some point as I got more comfortable with it, I removed the weights and could immediately feel how much faster it was. CRBN says both 1x and 3x are 7.8 - 8.1 oz, which is between the weight of the Filth and the Shogun.
Video title says "Bread & BUTTON..."
Just fixed it. Thank you!
She thinks an 8 oz paddle is heavy? Try using a tennis racquet and playing a real sport and you will know what heavy is. Can't believe these people who think a paddle is heavy. Playing tennis all my life, kind of sad that people think a hollow paddle is at all heavy.
What’s she’s describing is the balance point of the paddle. The weight is focused towards handle instead of top the paddle. Definitely could mess with swing mechanics. So relax
@@lebronsinclair8012 You're right. After some conversation it was clear it was a different balance than she was used to, not the weight itself.
She was really noting that the balance of the weight was different than she was used to. I could feel it too. Wasn't really about the actual weight.
@@PaloAltoPickleballClub I dealt with that when I switched from Ronbus R3.16 to Volair Mach 2. The handle heavy paddle just isn’t for me. I just prefer something balanced to slightly head heavy. It’s crazy how the feeling of the balance point can’t really throw how you like the paddle. I actually have now upgraded to the TKO -CX 12.77 from paddletek and love the balance point that paddle!
@@lebronsinclair8012 Thank you for sharing that. I've had the same experience. Some paddles that are a little heavier toward the handle I have a hard time with my swing speed.
