i have just been watching irl rally compilations. the way the cars move, the crashes happen etc. this looks almost identical. in fact, even with the dated graphics some of these clips could damn near pass for real life. incredible.
There's something really beautiful that I can't put into words about the idea of this old game being one of the best, if not THE best rally simulator still, and having a community of people that appreciate it for what it is, without the fancy graphics or bells & whistles that modern games have. I'm happy I'm not the one out there that still holds a special place in my heart for it. (sorry if I don't make sense, having a migraine)
God damn this game is good, but also so extremely hard. I'm only barely starting to get to grips with the game after playing it for about a year. Even when I think I have things under control the slightly bump taken at the wrong angle and everything can come to a brutal end. I don't think any game has yet managed to recreate the utter terror of going flatout in this game. Especially on stages that put some love into having uneven road surfaces with ruts and what not. That's when the stage becomes absolutely terrifying at high speeds. Just one of the rut, or bump, can send you into an insane upset that's will quickly become extremely difficult to manage. I still am traumatized by how much understeer cars have in this game. I'm getting better at using weight transfer to help rotate the car. But at first I seriously didn't understand how I could manage to fail even a tame a 5 Right/Left turn. At first I seriously thought something was wrong with my install as compared to games like WRC/G(Kyloton) or even Dirt2.0. The amount of grip and control you retain on the cars is kind of not even on the same planet. I managed to get a World Record in WRCG(1990s category), but I highly doubt that will ever happen in RBR. If I can even manage to get in the top 100 of the RBR leaderboards. I guess I'll feel like a champ. lol
Despite all the silly driving, I'm just constantly comparing the great suspension work and weight the cars have and going bac to the EA WRC and not seeing the same. The cars bounce, but have damping and they have body inertia really showing the realistic weight which also brings in the livelyness of rallying seeing that several of these have to struggle to regain control. In DR2.0 I am never afraid, I just slide a little to bleed of speed.
RBR is definitely not going to get uninstalled any time soon. I doubt any company will top it in the next few years unfortunately. But I am looking forward to EA WRC, I'm sure it's going to be plenty fun.
@@FPV_sk8 yep, DR2.0 is decent and great to jump into with the guys in my club. With more and longer stages it should last longer. I got insanely tired of the few stages 2.0 had.
@@FPV_sk8 Sorry, but in 2023 I cannot play this... the immersion factor is important and seeing this pixelated environment is a big no for me... sure, simmy games are great and from what I've seen so far the new WRC game will be plenty close to a simulation outside of the damage model which will be decent but they said in an interview that manufacturers don't let them go full sim on the damage model... RBR was a great game FOR IT'S TIME... well, not really a great game but a good sim... as a game it was horrible cause without a wheel, good luck playing it... as a video game on a game pad it's undrivable... I knew plenty of people back in 2004 that bought it and were pissed because it was ridiculously twitchy on a gamepad and you couldn't play at all . Anyway, I appreciate all sim titles but going back to 2004 graphics, even modded, is a big no...
@@justkady And yet the same people criticize the physics of this new WRC game that are spot on... because it's not RBR... hmmm... brain issue I'd say... And btw, I have plenty of skill to run a clean stage in RBR... just not interested in being immersed in the rallying of mario land graphics... RBR fanboys are a cult... have been brainwashed that everything about RBR is perfect so they run with torches and pitchforks every time another rally game comes out... just sad...
The only major issue i have with this game is that every stage is made by a different guy, and bacause of it, the pacenotes are all over the place. In one stage a right 2 is a slow turn, in the next it's a goddamn hairpin. The worst is when a "6" suddenly turns into a 4, and at that point all you can do is close your eyes and pray. It's just impossible to trust the navigator, which makes the game incredibly frustrating and costs me an insane amount of crashes.
There are pacenote packs out there which cover a loooot of stages, gives a much more consistent experience in that regard! :D been about a year since i played this game so my memory isn't the best regarding it haha but i believe the official discord has links for some & info on how to use them ! alternatively there's also always the option if making your own notes, altough it gets quite tedious at times, especially when you accidentally note down a right as a left or vice versa... 😅
I'm sure compiling all of this already took a lot of work. But it would killer if the track names could also be included. There are so many that seeing an interesting turn or section could be all it takes to get the desire to go try it out. :)
Hmmm I don't think I'd put anything like that in the video but stage list in bio/comments isn't a bad idea. The only one problem is that I don't know few stages (talking about the Finnish BTBs- they are all the same looking for me 😅) that I've put there. If you want to now the name of a stage and will ask me in the comments I'll probably answer tho :)
Yes, just put them into Rallyismfans (main folder)>RX content>tracks Then while selecting the stage, open the list, go to the bottom and you'll find the "test btb stages" folder. There will be your stages :) They are only playable in practice mode ofc There you go, also quite weird place for problem solving, I would recommend discord servers for future :)
What exact moment you're talking about? There isn't too much to change in RBR's graphics settings - if you're using RSF you can do some changes in the launcher but the difference isn't huge
It's works on controllers but has no vibration. Which is why it is not really enjoyable. Otherwise loving the variety of stages. Unlike other rally games this game doesn't not put unnecessary stones everywhere.
