So glad you enjoyed the Achmelvich castle. A pity there was no storm at the time you visited. You would have notice how the wind dropped when you entered the clever entrance. The builder left his castle and did some good work later helping on the designing the cathedral at Coventry. Thanks for coming here in a small camper van. The large travelling houses ruin our summers now just by blocking our single tracks.
mannnnn hard to say whats best part...but the waterfall 2:28 mins with music and filming skills....you guys could def be the next tourism guides ( for tv) just stunning how you put it all together..glad midges not tooooo bad..when i lived in ireland for few yrs, in a field up side of hills of galway..with other van dweller...the midges there were insane...we'd cram into each others vans on a night, n dread when someone went out for a wee...i remember always looking at the table/walls...crawling with them...and like eeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkk we're being taken over !!!another stunning video ...def agree thecastle was more like a prison..but what a view !!! take care ..have fun....lovely to see people sooooo in awe of the natural world... :) *X* big love
Great video, I’ve been going to Achmelvic for the last 30 years , the whole Assynt area is special, enjoy the bealach, I’ve cycled it and it’s a tough cookie on the legs.
Thank you so much for writing those words! It made us both really happy to read. We are continually trying to improve our videos and this one was one of my favourites so far! Thanks for watching 😊
Wow!!! This was so beautiful, I think my favorite video of yours so far! Your smiles are SO BIG, I can tell you're both just having an absolute blast! I really loved the loch that turned into a waterfall, all of the footage is really epic and incredible its so hard to pick a favorite!!
Thank you so much Sara! You’re right, we’ve been having an amazing time here and we can’t believe how nice it is! I think the loch and waterfall might well be my favourite spot but it’s all been wonderful😊
Hey guys. Just found this vid. We are looking to go to Applecross soon as my cousin has a big house there in Toscaig. So looking forward to that. Greta video with some impressive cinematography and drone footage. I’m hoping to get some also so thank you for this video. All the best to you both.
AHHHHHH i just got a lil envelope.....filled with 'awesomeness'.....thankyou soooo much , i will keep safe until i renovate my van and put somewhere to make me smile..1st vanlife sticker :) ! thanks for note....you beautiful people.....and the best is that it travelled all the way from scotland, can feel the vibes on it :) HUGE Love ...enjoy rest of travels *X*
As usual an awesome vid. Your excitement comes through and is very real. Midges are a pain but worth the effort. Love your very explanatory commentaries, no one does it better 😂👍
Ooh the west coast was definitely the hardest to get signal but we did quite well on Vodaphone. We had move on quite quickly in a lot of places that we otherwise would have spent the night at. Torridon had it in the most remote stretch!
@@OurWildHorizons Full credit to you for not calling them Lakes :).I really wasn't having a dig at you, just pointing it out :) .and thanks again for a brilliant video.
Mate! These vlogs are insane 😍😍😍 your quality of these is next level. We've watched all of your videos and we love them! We have spent a bit of time in Scotland and loved it and would love to go back especially to do the NC500. What time of year did you go?
Ah thank you so much!! I love the filmmaking side of things so it’s lovely to read a comment like this 😃 We went in June, so we had it for a month before the midges come out in full force and before the school holidays started. It was incredible since it was quiet and the sun didn’t set until past 11pm!
Of course! It’s just the 500 mile stretch of the north Scotland coastline, we don’t have a dog so we don’t if any beaches had restrictions for them but it’s all open for all 😀
We’ve been lucky! Yes, there’s a repellent company called Smidge who have set up these traps all over the counties to monitor the midge levels. Type midge forecast in google and it should be the first one 😊 it’s quite interesting!
Ah we didn’t make it last year but we’re actually back in Scotland now (new video just posted) and we’re definitely going to see some islands this time 😃
I’ve been flying it for years now. It’s fairly easy and you get more confident with each flight. I like the turn the drone around when I’m up in the air to double check I’m clear of any potential obstacles it may crash into. That drone looks awesome, I’m sure you’ll be fine and a pro in no time 😊

Ah we've only just seen this comment! Oh noo, I was hoping the midges stayed in Scotland! Were they biting ones in Ireland?
@@OurWildHorizons oooh yes......we'd go out for a wee....n be bitten all over the place....know what i mean :( nasty blightas !
Great video, I’ve been going to Achmelvic for the last 30 years , the whole Assynt area is special, enjoy the bealach, I’ve cycled it and it’s a tough cookie on the legs.
Thank you, ah that area is brilliant! Bet cycling was great fun there!
You spoiled my eyes with so much beauty! Not a second wasted in watching your video. I really enjoyed it! Thanks for "taking" us there! Epic video! :)

Wow what a video we have missed the waterfall
ahh it's a little hidden gem! You'll have to go back one day 😊
Wow, that was epic! Amazing filming❤️
woohoo!! Jake tried really hard (as usual) but it felt like he spent extra long on the editing :D
Great video! Such a beautiful part of the world
Thank you guys! We have been blown away with how beautiful it is up here 😊
Great vlog guys. A beautiful part of the UK that everyone once in their lifetime they should visit 🏴❤️
Definitely! Thanks for watching 😊
Superb footage guys thank you.
Where did you manage to get signal to work? I need some on Thursday!
Ooh the west coast was definitely the hardest to get signal but we did quite well on Vodaphone. We had move on quite quickly in a lot of places that we otherwise would have spent the night at. Torridon had it in the most remote stretch!
@@OurWildHorizons thank you!
Best video I've seen in a long time. ❤
Thank you so much Joey! Chuffed to read that 😊
This has been my favourite stretch to see. All the drone footage was amazing! I felt like I was in LOTR 🤣
It was our favourite stretch! It reminded us of New Zealand with all the mountain ranges 😊
We're off on our honeymoon to the West Coast and Skye soon, really looking forward to seeing your top tips for Skye ❤️
What a fantastic place for a honeymoon! We are sure that you will love it 😊 We’ll make sure to get some extra good places to visit on Skye for you!
Great video, very well done...my only gripe is that you say"lock"imstead of Loch?its not difficult :).
Ah we don’t know how it’s properly pronounced but hopefully you can give us credit for not calling them all lakes! 😀
@@OurWildHorizons Full credit to you for not calling them Lakes :).I really wasn't having a dig at you, just pointing it out :) .and thanks again for a brilliant video.
Where is that area where you said amazing like a tropical .?
It’s one of the big parking areas on Loch Marree 🙂 The road is only on one side of it so it shouldn’t take many attempts to find!

I think it was June :)
Could you take to small dogs on the nc500?
Of course! It’s just the 500 mile stretch of the north Scotland coastline, we don’t have a dog so we don’t if any beaches had restrictions for them but it’s all open for all 😀
I'm glad that you enjoyed NC500 :)
It was fantastic, we can't wait to come back and see it in a different season, maybe with dusting of snow!
@@OurWildHorizons I think Jan - March is best for it. :)
Glad you haven't had too much of a problem with midges. Is there really a midge map?😃
We’ve been lucky! Yes, there’s a repellent company called Smidge who have set up these traps all over the counties to monitor the midge levels. Type midge forecast in google and it should be the first one 😊 it’s quite interesting!
Any plans or idea of when you guys will be back in Europe, or further afield?
100% we are just going to spend the summer here then head off again 😊
Do yourself a favour and go see the Outer Hebrides 😍😍😍
Ah we didn’t make it last year but we’re actually back in Scotland now (new video just posted) and we’re definitely going to see some islands this time 😃
How long it took you guys to learn to fly the drone? Got my one few days ago and it's pretty ice Air 2s
