    People please! Go other places in Scotland. You won't be disappointed. There was no such thing as ' the 500' a few years ago and maybe that's because it's not some historical route. It's over used and the infrastructure isn't up to managing the amount of traffic and footfall. Please leave it to what it was. There are other amazing places to see all over Scotland.

      You are right. We're heading back to Scotland this year but exploring Galloway Forest Park, Oban and Fort William, Moffat, Edinburgh, the Cairngorms, and the Outer Hebrides. The NC500 is great because the road trip is already laid out for you and there are so many great places to see on the route, and I do think everyone should go once. But you are right, we need to be mindful of over-tourism and it's not the only place in Scotland with amazing things to see.

    Love seeing these places.
    I personally would stay in two or three places, as a base. Ullapool for maybe 3 nights due to having many great places to eat. (Don’t go to the tourist trap…..The Seaforth, it’s £££)
    Live local music, on certain nights.
    I did a boat trip from Kyleshu to the waterfall (Kyle shu)
    The Belach na Ba, is stunning, I had a gorgeous veiw from my 350 Royal Enfield. Only down side was the obnoxious camper van driver, who had no clue, about giving way, and forced this lady to reverse back, when the passing place was right at his left. So he was told, lol, by several drivers 😅.
    Smoo cave is awesomely beautiful. Not done the waterfalls too much of a hike for my hip.
    Lochcarron is gorgeous too, nice meal in the hotel.
    Great guide for people who wish to visit.😊

    Hi Roseanna,
    What difficulties do you face, towing a Go pod up such a steep and narrow road with a small car/van on the north coast 500

    • @Roz.S
      @Roz.S  9 місяців тому +2

      Hello, I got the Go Pod around the NC500 okay. I've got some dashcam footage of the roads which I'll share in a future video.
      My van can tow up to 1000kg and the MTLPM of the caravan is only 750kg (but it's probably more like 600kg as I don't put much in it), so they're a good match. Together, the length of my rigg is 8-meters, and I could only just fit into some passing places so if you have a longer car and caravan, you may struggle. Bends weren't a problem.
      The only problem I did have was on the second half of my trip, my van started to lose power going up hills (with or without the caravan). I took the van to 3 garages on route but none had availability to see me. In the end, I just had to drive home. When I got a mechanic to look at her, it turned out that by brakes were binding (I had new disks and pads fitted before I left), so that was an easy fix. Hope that helps.

    Such a pity there is a stone commemorating the killing of the last wolf. I guess then the natives didn't understand or even care how important an apex predator was to the order of things. I hear theres talk of reintroducing the wolf in Britain. Something to bear inmind when letting 'tiddles' out at night!

    • @Roz.S
      @Roz.S  9 місяців тому +2

      I suppose it better to remember the last wolf than not to remember it. As you say, things were different back then and they probably had a different reason for hunting them.
      A pen-pal of mine lives in a rural area of the US, and she will regularly have to keep her dog and cat inside because a mountain lion will be hunting in the area. I don't think about these things as there's nothing like that here is the UK. Whereas if she goes hiking, she needs to be prepared for bears, mountain lions, etc.

      @alarmactionukalarmactionuk893 9 місяців тому +2

      @@Roz.S from British isles history I have read the wolf was hunted into extinction because of the number of live stock the species took each year. Not so dis similar to the treatment of foxes in some regions of the uk. I do find it sad how a wild carnivorous animal can be vilified by humans for just following its own instinct to survive.
      Anyway back to caravans lol!

    1)That's one big orange cup of tea if you fill it with caffiene. I'm guessing it doubles as a soup mug? 2)You get my award for cleanest work desk/caravan in the UK. Something I could only do only under extreme supervised duress.

    • @Roz.S
      @Roz.S  3 місяці тому +1

      1) It's a standard mug of tea 😅
      2) The caravan was at home, so it was practically empty and therefore much easy to keep clean. It doesn't look like that when I'm travelling 😅

      I don’t depend on people to watch my videos. This is not how I make my money. I make videos because I enjoy it and it’s something I can do on my own. And someone watching a video is very different to having someone in my space or having to be social with them. This is perfect hobby for the antisocial …well, aside from comments like yours 😂😂

    You missed The Golspie Waterfalls and Gorge. A purpose built easy walk path from the car park at the north end of Golspie. The path goes up the gorge and bridges take you back and forth across the burn until you reach the end of the path and the moss wall waterfall and observation point at the end. Well worth it.
