Deep Dive Into My Father Cigars

My Father Cigars have not been around as long as many of the cigar makers, but their relatively brief history is an interesting story.
Don Pepin Garcia immigrated to Miami from Cuba in 2002, and bought a very small cigar operation in Little Havana to practice the trade skills he had honed in Cuba. In a bold move, he named his new company "El Rey de Los Habanos," which translates as "The King of Cuban Cigars."
At first the company did only contract manufacturing, with Tatuaje as their first customer, while Don Pepin also worked to introduce a line of cigars under his own name.
Don Pepin strived to bring the best of Cuban cigar making tradition into all the cigars his company produced. Triple fermentation, three seam caps and Entubada rolling technique were among the Cuban touches he insisted on.
By 2007, the company was producing 5 million cigars a year and badly outgrowing their Miami facilities. At about the same time Jaime Garcia (son of Don Pepin) was secretly working on a blend to surprise Don Pepin, which he named "My Father." The line was introduced about the same time the company relocated to Nicaragua.
The move to Nicaragua allowed My Father to gain control of all aspects of making their cigars - from their own fields to warehouses to a box factory to production - all facets are now managed by My Father.
In 2019, Don Pepin's daughter Janny spearheaded an effort to acquire the Fonseca brand from Quesada, a Dominican cigar maker. My Father revived and re-blended the Fonseca line, which had been lackluster under the previous ownership.
Currently My Father Cigars produces over 20 million cigars annually, including a dozen of their own brands as well as continuing contract manufacturing for brands including La Aroma de Cuba, San Cristobal, and Tatueje.

Thanks Jim, it sounds like Don Pepin had a mind for quality. Never heard of My Father cigars, will have to give them a look. I've heard of Fonseca before, what I read in the past weren't exactly glowing reviews. Hopefully this brand has been improved.

Thanks for watching. Spanish (as you can tell from my videos) is not my strong suit. I did actually use one of those voice pronunciation apps to get that, but in retrospect the J should be pronounced as you did.

You said the world perfectly, the last part doesn't finish sounding like " hay". Its as Spanish world for " tattoo ". Im a Spanish person, and you said it right 👍​@cigarscigarscigars
