Let them ads roll so Tyler can afford some spring retainers.
Nissan Patrol, putting smiles on faces since 1951 🙂
Gotta be grateful for all those who assisted in making the Patrol so capable a vehicle. Its eating up those tuff tracks.
I was living in Lithgow in 2008 and did some exploring around the Mt.Walker area in my Rodeo 4wd. The track to the top of Mt. Walker is a seriously steep and scary track and am in awe of Tyler for conquering that mountain in his GU Patrol.
You have turned that Nissan into a very competant weapon. You drive it like you've had it for years and the camera footage is always a great pov, what an experience for your young bloke
Thanks mate!
What a beast! That all looks like a heck of a fun time!!
Hey Tyler, just a quick safety suggestion. I notice all your stuff just chucked in the back. Maybe chuck a cargo net behind the front seats to stop/slow anything coming forward if things do go wrong. I just chuck a ute net and tie down strap between the handles and also seat bases if doing very steep stuff. Cheap easy and removable for when the cars in family/shopping trolley mode.
I really do love watching these. Thankyou Tyler and Kai for the weekly entertainment.
Awesome series as always. The Patrol is such an incredible beast!
Thanks mate!
Great series of vids 👍 looks like great 4wheeling can't wait for the next series
Bloody awesome mate, great series, love the Patrol
Rear locker in & she just walks up the tough stuff, must give you so much confidence and less stress on the steep climbs
Always love your adventure. Keep it up.
Another great entertaining vid Tyler. Also good to see Kai maturing and taking interest in camp setup and happy to be on camera 🎥
Love the content, back to basics enjoying the bush,
the gear normal people use nothing new and fancy, and love the different areas you travel to great stuff both off yous
Excellent video mate. Great work. 🍺👍🇦🇺❤️
The Mt walker track is very fun, did it in my little D22 navara last weekend. Loved it
That Mt Walker climb was epic! The patrol ate it up! Awesome vid and series mate👍
Thanks mate
Great series mate, cant wait for the next!! 👍
Thanks! 👍
Good video i enjoyed it thanks 👍✌
The patrol makes it look easy love the look of it aswell 👍🏴
Wow, really great vid shots of hill climb... Top work... Buy both of you.... 😀
The ever evolving Tyler Thompson you've got the BiGDawG looking good an doing great things the content is getting better all the time your sons a bit of tripper I bet he is loving it .good stuff
I love the Lake Lyell and Zig zag but coming back into the hawksbury the cops love you even more haha great rig mate live the flex
Agreed, such a great all round area. I miss living in Syd and heading out there!
Yep sure is mate!
That first hill is called Firetruck Hill
Wow, gotta give it to you, doing Mt Walker by yourself well done 👍 that's a steep track.
The Patrol seems to really do well with that current suspension set up, maybe slightly longer springs😁🤐.....good stuff Tyler !!
Thanks mate!
Great stuff Tyler, I enjoy all your content. Hey Kai -------------------------- bye!
nice one, would be interesting to see you try that climb once with rear lockers then again with front. looks like the rear lockers are sometimes pushing you off your line.
yess!! you've done it you've conqured the big hill ! well Done! can't wait to see future upgrade episodes with spare tyre on and everything else ! then it will look professional!
you got some great driving angled videography scenes !
wait what ! he doesn't like the Patrol ?? haha noooo
Thanks mate!
Monangaroo 😅😅😅 as a local, this is a pissa!!
Looks like such a fun place. Only a couple of hours from me so should def make the effort to get down there.
Yep its an awesome place!
Love your work Tyler.
You should have taken the right hand line on that first hill (Fire Truck Hill). Had to winch up the step in my almost stock 200 Series a couple of months back, but your Patrol would have eaten it up
If you're after video content.. sell that patrol and use the fund's to fit front lockers to the Nav and Mux and continue on the path you set many year's ago.
Awesome vid mate, was just curious though, what was that constant popping/banging sound in your suspension. I've never herd it from mine so was wondering if you noticed it.
I've driven a stock series 2A land rover with open diffs up to the top of Mt Walker. However this was in the early 1990s when the track was covered in loose rocks but had almost no washouts or steps. There is no way my old landy would make it up there now, even if it still ran. Good drive.
Any other vehicle it’d take six days..😂😂😂. Good gear bud. Dominated that track.
Left my Tyler T stubby holder on a yacht in Hamilton Island a couple of weeks ago ..😭. Devo. Good news is I get to buy another one or two.
Cheers mate, definitely have to get another one! 😁
I bet your partner loves the springs cracking when she rolls into the supermarket car park, so much street cred 😂 bet all her friends are heaps jealous!
If she gets the springs to crack when driving into the supermarket car park then she missed the driveway entrance by a wide margin! I'd like to see that.
Yeah because you have full extension entering the carpark don't you stooge
Nice vid Tyler! It was great to watch the lines you chose (really nice driving). It's such an accomplishment to conquer a track you've not been able to in the past. By the way, have you received your engineer's certificate for your build as yet? It would be good to see what's involved. Cheers Brendan.
Thanks mate! Appreciate it! Not yet, waiting for last couple of parts then book it in
Nice
I feel like I have to be a dad to buy the dumb decisions merch
It's MaRRangaroo mate lol
Great series dude. What would be your fave destination out of vhc, Barrington, or Lithgow etc area.
Lithgow I reckon mate
Both f&r…as much as you can(not as little!)when on hard tracks as they are there to reduce wheel spin so you are not shock loading you hubs axels drive shafts, to reduce track damage blahh blahh ,turning the front off will end in tears one day and it could be broken parts or you on the roof or worse 🤷♂️you will learn the hard way as we all do…some never learn as they have their own theories
It seems we need an education video. I don't have twin lockers & it would be very interesting for many.
Patrol eat the tracks! One question Tyler I notice you change your crashpad swag for a 23zero any reviews in the future?
Yeah could look at doing one mate!
Hi mate, that articulation was insane. Live axels at its best. would you find a four wheeling performance difference between diesel and petrol gu's?
Thanks mate, haven't tried a diesel!
A Landcruiser takes 6 days to climb Mt Walker. That's why you got a Patrol to eat it up.
Are you planning a Simpson Desert trip soon and would you take the Nav over the Patrol?
No big trips this year mate due to just having a baby, but Id take the Nav I reckon!
I was just thinking to myself "that clacking spring noise sounds bloody awful, I wonder if you can do anything about it" . . . . Then you talk about getting longer ones. 🤣
It just sounds like something a going badly wrong but I guess it's fine to drive like that but just makes a bad noise?
Yeah haha the only issue I've potentially heard is putting stress on those front coil towers and mounts in the long term. But that's a debatable, I spoke to my mechanic about it and he said he's never seen or heard of it happening and extremely unlikely. But other then that its just a loud annoying noise haha, but I will do something about it, eventually 😂
@@TylerThompson90 it is a known issue, there are front and rear coil tower bracing kits, recommended.
@@ajimaster287 Yeah the springs clanging isn't what is causing them to crack though, its people with way overloaded patrols and driving them too hard off-road. The rear is also the main issue, front is very rare. And my rear coil towers are braced which you can see in the suspension episode
You only drove half of it?
How do you like the auto transmission now Tyler ?
Yep its good mate
Where do you keep your spare wheel
Boot
@@TylerThompson90 what is the biggest tyre you can put on the GU
That will fit on the rear door bracket without modifying the bracket
@@michaelhermans4753 33 I think, I was waiting for a rear bar to mount the 35. Its all on now
If you have both front and rear lockers why wouldn't you use both going up that hill? I'm a newbie to lockers so I don't fully understand the benefits of not having the front one locked as well.
I have very little experience.
But from what I understand, it's harder to steer the right line on technical tracks with front locker in.
And if you get stuck with both lockers it's a winch job. If you get stuck with one. Reset, add a locker, try again.
Yeah lose some of your steering with the front in and can be more dangerous with both in. For example the front could hit those big steps and then kick itself sideways into a dangerous position with the front in, this is less likely to happen with the front out.
@@Candyman1996.e tnx , I get the kick sideways, I wasn't aware this could happen or be amplified as a result of a front locker. I have heard about the steering issue before but in some other videos I've watched they seem to steer reasonably OK. On this track also the chances of getting stuck also seemed pretty slim. All good to know - tnx for the explanations.
I always chuck both lockers in if shits going to get real.
The shock loading when your front kicked sideways, and drive goes from one wheel to the other is great.
The way I look at it , weight of vehicle pushed by 2 driven wheels , switching as traction allows, is harder on driveline than 4 wheels sharing the load
@@brentcraddock7169 tnx
Literally 30 seconds before you said it yourself. I was thinking I know he told us not to worry about the clanging, but I'd be worried if it was mine.
Yeah I will get it fixed up but nothing to freak out about in the short term.
Why haven’t have you installed a snorkel, that’s the first thing most 4wd install
Cause Patrol is only a new build, snorkel was done after this trip
Please be careful with Kai taking pics and video's from behind the Nissan - I have a friend who had his shin shattered by a small stone that shot out and hit him.......
It seems your vids are more about the bogan bus patrol than the adventure these days!
Seems like my vids are about a father and son out the bush having the time of their lives 4wding, camping and adventuring
Honestly, it's a balanced mix. Ty is still learning about driving the Patrol and having a blast with it. All good I say.
Great vid as always tylz 👌👍
How good is that drifta 270?!
I've had one for a few weeks now and rate it very highly 👌 it's not the biggest but it's plenty enough for what I need and seems well built and nice and light compared to others out there. Its just so easy to use and it's so freakin sweet being able to pull up and have instant shade within 30 seconds which means I will actually use it much more. And it's pretty reasonably priced 😎
Thanks mate! Yeah they are an awesome little awning
