I'm so delighted to come across this recording. In 1975 I recommended this beautiful song as the potential theme for my high school graduation ceremony. It was approved, and I had the honour of performing it. It means so much to me.❤ Thank you for posting it!
Justin's voice is just beautiful and lovely... He is a poet and a great artist!!! Many memories of my loves, in my teenage years.... Just lovely... 🌹🌹🌹🌹.....
This is an incredible find! Too many moments in my life are attached to this song. Seventh Sojourn is still by far - the best album recorded by the band. (Just a few short years ahead of this concert) No other artist in my memory can take your mind back in time like Justin. What a fantastic string arrangement .... for all of you that attended this concert ....the light of life has surely shone done upon you. Unforgettable. Thank you Lord - for the light that you bestowed on Justin. Thank you Justin, for the gift of your music and soul.
When I heard this was a tribute to his father who died around the time his daughter was born, brought tears to my eyes. Listen to this song with that knowledge...very beautiful song. Gives it new meaning..
sometimes I think this is my favorite Justin song.... on the wind soaring free spread your wing I'm beginning to see out of mind far from view beyond the reach of the nightmare come true.... 1972 .... the man can write....
A very great Moody Blues song. I cannot decide if this is my favourite song or not. It is this or Candle of Life or Watching and Waiting. However, great as Blue Jays were, this is not a Blue Jays song.
Don Henley said sometimes less is more you can hear the raw emotion of justin haywards voice without the orchestra song meant so much to me now even more hearing this version
1972 in Gothenburg , we had11 places in the first row in front of the scene ! The band before Moody Blues used maybee one tenth of the amplifiers and speakers. We all of us left and went outside. We wanted all to leave the concert , it was to loud, to much! Well , we should give Moody Blues a chance! Small people started about ten to twelve amplifiers and loudspekers om the scen! plus two towers almost 10 meters high, on each side of the scene! We Were almost to leave! Thinking we anyway would blew away! What a concert, suddenly 11 of their best fans in Sweden existed that evening in Gothenburg!
One of my favorite songs written by Justin Hayward. He has been a huge inspiration. I finally learned how to play it and perform it occasionally. It is difficult to play live because the guitar is tuned to DADFAC instead of the standard EADGBE. Unless you have two guitars you normally don't want to subject the audience to your re- tuning.
What an incredible live performance of this beautiful song it brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to this song. Thank you so much for sharing it.
I saw them at Hull in concert and bought the a Blues Jays album, I was just turned 17. These tracks are on Timeless Flight, the larger 11 CD version one which seems to be on sale on google play. They are on disc 7. I think these tracks are the best representation of their live performance, simple just a small band, and certainly some of the best versions if their songs.
Thank you for this, Charlie. You can't imagine what hearing this live version after so many years did to me. "Love enough for free." I will never see my first love again and I won't meet his son, after so many years. This intimate version of this song was so healing for me. I cried profoundly. Thank you again.
This may be the Blue Jays but it is originally the Moody Blues. I cannot decide if this is my favourite song of the Moody Blues, It could be this or Candle of Life or Watching and Waiting. I
I have seen them twelve times over the years . The first time was in San Diego 1973 and the next time i see them will be at the Hollywood Bowl. 70 million albums sold and been together 50 years Top ten group of all-time.
@@christopherhale8326 It's Blue Jays but I must admit I'm mystified as to why John Lodge doesn't do backing vocals on this. It would have improved what is already a very good performance. And they said the quality wasn't good to release this??? Baffled.

This and Blue Guitar from the Blue Jays album are two of the most beautiful songs ever written!

Tremendous song, tremendous lyrics, and a very beautiful voice. One of my of all times favorite from my days as a young lad.
One of the most beautiful, timeless songs written and sung by Justin. Lovely live version.
The most poignant, beautiful Justin composition in my opinion. Still evokes tears after all these years, and that is the mark of a true masterpiece.
This is the best version of this song, period.
An absolutely incredible Justin Hayward masterpiece.
A beautiful song which resonates within me after many years of finding my own piece of mind ...., thank you Justin

Fantastic version of this song. Sounds like they have live violins and cellos backing them up.
And they had! Jim Cockey (violin), Tim Tompkins (cello), Tom Tompkins (viola)!
Wow nice gem here..a beautiful mosaic song.. thanks for sharing

The studio version has the guitar solos and harmonies. Stunning the soft voice

One of my all time favorites
This version has its own charm, certainly Tim and Tom's string performances show to advantage.

Thanks for posting all the tracks of this wonderful concert. Great recording quality! A real treasure.
Beautiful, Justin!
A great song. Thanks, Charlie, for posting this very fine version.
Probably my favourite Moodies song ever.
❤ this recording is so lovely 😊❤
Moody blues forever ♥️🙏🏻
I should have been there! Still have my original LP of the Bluejays, still Love this so much!!💙💖💯
Absolutely love this live version from 1975! Thank you for sharing!
Great posting!!!!I have never heard of it before...Thank you for sharing it here!A huge Moodies fan. :-)
Didn't know these existed until a week ago - Absolutely fantastic. Thanks for the post.
Thanks for the live versions.
I was there!
Os melhores dos melhores. Uauuuu... Os meus queridos Moody's 😍❤️
How does Justin do that!
my heart is singing
This may be the Blue Jays but it is originally the Moody Blues.

This is just plain awsome. Please will someone tell me why Justin Hayward and the Moody Blues are not in the Rock in Roll Hall of fame?
Good question!
i wonder why they are blacklisted? One of the top ten groups of alltime
They've moved so far past the R&R HOF it is not even funny. They're in a class by themselves!
I have seen them twelve times over the years . The first time was in San Diego 1973 and the next time i see them will be at the Hollywood Bowl. 70 million albums sold and been together 50 years Top ten group of all-time.
The should have been in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the instant they were eligible. But they finally made it.
💙
Has this gig ever had official release on cd? Does anyone out there know?
Do you know where I can get this performance with the videos?
no videos... this is on the Timeless Flight boxset.
no Guitar solo! It was epic in the studio version. Other then that it is sublime..
yeah, and the luxury of two guitars too..
Charlie Turner. Please get your facts straight. This song was never done by the Blue Jay's..
I don't hear John Lodge. Is this a Hayward solo concert instead of Blue Jays???
Just heard Lodge on one of the other tracks from same concert.
