I really like the fact that Pastrana invited Loeb. At first sight, i'm french and i'm happy that Loeb won the race against Block. But at second sight, it's great for the whole world of WRC who really needs some entertainment ( and so, money ), like Block has with Gymkhana. That's pretty cool. So thanks to you american drivers, Pastrana and Block, that permit us, our WRC World to be more known to new public. And also thanks Loeb to prove to the world, that your a WRC legend pilot from now.
I like how when the English commentator was listing Loeb's achievements the American commentator was like "yeah sure but Ken Block is in second place with a flat tire" you can hear it in her voice that she's butthurt that her fellow Americans got the floor wiped with them by some Frenchman. Lmao no body can give Loeb a run for his money, he won championships while staying in his bed, that's how good he is
Loeb is the best Rally driver, no one can rationally deny that. I like Rally racing, Rally cars, and the whole Rally "scene." Even though I am American, I never was a big stock car race fan, but I think that takes a certain amount of skill also, just a different racing culture. Poor Ken Block just can't get a break in Rally racing, flat tires, crashes, he didn't advance much past the lower mid level in WRC. The Euros have us beat there.
Sebastien Loeb crosses the finish line, parks his car at the stand, gets out of the car, goes into the locker room, takes a shower, puts on a cup of coffee and sits next to the track, takes his smartphone and is waiting to take a selfie when Ken Block crosses the finish line ...
The difference between Loeb and the others was simple : traction. Loeb never did some fancy drifts because he knows it costs time. I was surprised every time he was doing a hairpin in wrc : everyone would do some long drifts around the corner while Loeb simply braked, turned and went full gas.
It depends on the driver though. You see Colin McRae doing drifts on hairpins at fast speed most of the time of his WRC career. Loeb just prefers grip when tackling hairpins.
Sébastien Loeb is the "master". He won the WRC world championship 8 times in row ! Probably 9 times in row this year ! It's just incredible. He is The Master.
Undeniable. :] Good analysis, is all I can say now. On the other hand, this has been an awesome show... I hope this becomes a marketing tool for WRC as represented by Loeb, while the rest of the world can also appreciate the X-Games represented by Block (something he's been doing really well with that gymkhana), Foust, Pastrana, and the rest of the crew!
should give Block credit for maintaining second place on three tires. it's take a lot of skill to keep that under control. Loeb is undeniably one of the best rally/rallycross racers in history. he started out as nothing & when his boss saw him drive his Ferrari, he suggest Loeb did racing. here he is today with incredible display of skill. Loeb & Block deserved those medals.
Basically whenever Loeb competes in a race everyone else is racing for second place. I would love to see a race between him and Lewis Hamilton in road cars just to see what will happen. World Rally drivers vs. F1 Drivers.
A few years ago Loeb and Red Bull F1 team where working together to prepare a F1 but sadly at this period his WRC results decreased so he decided to focus on WRC only
not questioning there ability. but did block and loebs car have the active diffts that wrc has banned from there category at the begining on last year?
If you watched the whole coverage of the race, you'd see how much praise the commentator was giving to Loeb. He even chose Loeb to win it all. He wouldn't stop talking about Loeb. He was saying Loeb is a rookie to Rallycross not Rally. They are similar in some regards but very different in others.
Look at all the people hatin. Seb is a great racer don't get me wrong, but just because he won doesn't mean the field isn't experienced. Global Rallycross has Marcus Gronholm, a 2 time WRC champion, Tanner Foust, the first American to win a European RallyCross round (and he came in 2nd place for the entire championship), and various highly experienced European Rallycross aces like Sverre Isachsen(3-Time defending European champion) and Toomas Heikkinen. That makes the win even better for Loeb.
loeb has to be the most underrated driver in the world. I dont follow rallying, i follow formula one yet i still think he is quite possibly the greatest driver of all time no person has dominated a sport like he has legend.
Agreed. I wanted to see the second place "battle", although since there was no coverage, I'm not sure how close it was. I was kinda hoping it would be similar to Rene Arnoux and Gilles Villeneuve back in the day but thanks to the full victory lap coverage of Loeb winning by over ten seconds, the rallycross event wasn't as exciting as it is hyped up to be.
Fully agree. Looking at the change in positions between 3rd and 6th in the last couple of laps there must have been some racing going on. Yet all we get is coverage of Loeb out on his own.
1st Sebastien Loeb (French). 2nd Ken Block (American). 3rd Deegan (American). 4th Foust (American). 5th Millen (New Zealand.) 6th Liam Doran (Great Britain). 7th David Binks (Great Britain). 8th David Higgins (Great Britain). 9th Samuel Hubinette (Swedish). 10th Sverre Isachsen (Norway). Considering the Americans had so much bad luck in this race with Block tire down, Foust rear axel damage, Pastrana crashed out, they did a great job. Not to mention, they are new at it, unlike 6 -10th place.
I'll have to commend on Ken Block driving on 3-wheels and managed to keep his position. I guess seeing him race in WRC improved his skill afterall. That's some fighting spirit despite all the probable pressure from the fans, media, sponsors, etc... a true sportsman -- not just the gymkhana entertainer he became famous for.
- resistance to handle all of this for the whole season on snow, sand, asphalt etc. that´s really driving art for me. So Sebastian Loeb is best driver on the planet for at least this decade for me.
you are so correct!! I laughed when Block said in an interview, that it will be interesting to see how Loeb adapts to having several cars on the track at the same time.....In my head I was like.....you do know Loeb has had podium finishes in LeMans.....dumbass...still Block is entertaining to watch, I was just annoyed at his statements
What I want to know is that, does Rally-X have any regulations for making the cars even? I guess there is? However, I believe you'd understand knowing the fact that the technology and experience applied in setting up Loeb's Citroen car was based on WRC. So let's say they even it out in power output and weight, however, suspension geometry and components, as well other settings combined with Loeb's exceptional skill make it a dominating package.
The only way this could be fair it's between Sébastien Loeb and Petter Solberg, because they are the best WRC drivers, just give Solberg any car any day and that would worth to watch
I agree with you on that, Loeb is simply the best. Better than Americans, Europeans (except France). He's the best Rally driver ever. However, you got to give the american drivers credit for finishing 2, 3, 4 in a sport that is somewhat new to them. Heck 5 - 10 place are regular rallycross drivers who grew up doing it (not sure about Millen though). Can't wait for next years x games. I hope Loeb returns. If he does, i will make the trip to LA to watch a Legend drive :)
he's done multiple tests with the Red Bull F1 team, rumours were that he could even have been replacing Mark Webber for the last couple of seasons. During a test at Catalunya in 2008 he posted a time of 1:22.5, the lap record is only 1:21.67.
Sorry guys, but Loeb is simply the best rally car pilot ever! Thanks to the US pilots who authorized him to give them a lesson during his holidays... A kind of tourist trophy, in fact! lol
I think no need for insults, it's a sport we all love and such performance is very good for other drivers to see, then it gets more fun, the stack as been raised by loeb . Let's see how the others react and how long it will take them to catch up . I love this sport people, no dising each other ,teasing is aloud ;)
Wow, Sebastien Loeb took this RallyCross thing like a walk in the park. He is a 9x rally world champion and one of the best all time drivers in the world. No surprise, though a little humiliating for the hosts.
I love how controlled Loeb goes through the gravel hairpin compared to block, Loeb is so close to the wall and hardly breaks out, compared to block. Also, this is a WRC car not european rally championship
Certainly, Loeb is the greatest, but Citroen and Peugeot deserve credit for building some of the best competition cars. Peugeot (owner of Citroen) won the world endurance car championship last year in their 908 3.7 litre turbo diesel. Yes, they didn't win 2011 Le Mans but lost to Audi by 13 seconds after 24 hrs. But, Peugeot won the remaining races, including Sebring (12hr.) and Petit Le Mans (10hrs.) at Road Atlanta. They also won Spa, Silverstone, China, and others.
california people what do you guys think of irish peple getting transferres over there..are you irish friendly? have to work there for a year let me know ...thanks :)
Im not gonna argue there but you have to admit that block has been a huge driving force here in the states for bringing awareness to the sport of rally cross. I mean thats how i got intrested in the WRC. No more of that boring oval nascar crap.
he's learning, atleast he's bringing the love to rally cars !!! he might do well as in podium, no championship is my bed, but he isnt terrible, he was when he did his first 2 movies, now he actually drives :D
8 times WRC champion, 2nd in Le Mans 2006. He probably could have gone to F1, but he didn't get the FIA Super Licence, because he had not done enough circuit racing at lower levels.
Block took this as a race.
Loeb took this as a sunday hobby.
Hahaha...american will angry after read this...😆😆😆
