can't wait to pay for another 5150 and another soldano
people may like or dislike Neural DSP but they set the standard of GUI design for so many modern ampsim developers
.. who dislikes neural dsp?
It's sometimes possible to interpret legitimate criticism as dislike. I for example really dislike that they have so many models but it's all separated into Archetypes and Amp Suites which don't even have feature parity between them. Like the older plugins not having transpose or doubler. Mixing and matching gear from different products is kind of nonsense PITA. It kind of punishes you for being a customer that buys more of their products. So for example I would have Petrucci for the doubler and/or pitch shift, Fortin pedals, Abasi amps, Nolly Cabs. And now I have to bounce between 4 different interfaces to change things about the tone. Doesn't mean I dislike them. Just means I end up opening Audio Assault and getting the whole thing in one interface.
The biggest advantage of Neural for me initially was that they had great presets by artists, and you can get a variety of good tones pretty fast. But then you should maybe buy 1 or 2 of their products max.
A lot of other people were invested in the quad cortex and I am sure there are not that many that dislike it outright but many that see the potential in that device not being fulfilled or the promise of easily using the same tones from the plugins in the QC and taking it with you wasn't fulfilled and they might be sour about that. Having something so good but just not there can be more frustrating for many people than having something subpar.
I am sure most people who comment or say these things online like me don't dislike Neural, we just want to see their potential fulfilled. The frustration just comes out when another Archetype drops which basically just has all the same stuff other ones already have (I am looking at you Tom) and it feels like a cash grab from new fans of the artist but the older customers who bought like 5 of the earlier products don't get anything addressed.
I was really happy when they announced the X series plugins. It addresses a lot of the things I mentioned, like feature parity, and QC compatibility, but you still have to interface bounce. Atleast we are making progress, so that's good. I hope they keep making progress.
Wish they would make the UI resizable, their set aspect ratio doesn’t really work well for my 42” ultra wide monitor
I'm surprised he didn't work with Neural to make his signature plugin considering he used Plini and Nolly to write the last record
I was thinking the same thing! Pretty sure his live rig is also a quad cortex
Who knows, he may have wanted to, but it may not have worked out for one reason or another
@@shizzlefohizzle417yeah his live rig was quad cortex too
Looks so much like a Neural plugin though
Maybe it's just that mixwave approached him first
At this point it feels like there's a new plugin coming out literally every other day..
Yeah and it’s mostly pointless to get another one if own one or two high quality ones already. It’s just more of the same thing with every release. The market is getting too oversaturated with amp sims in general, too.
Good thing is most of them are really (and pretty much equally) good! Downside is they are all starting to kinda sound alike and imo I notice the 'ol DSP+GGD+Grove/Djinn setup a lot more now. You can just hear people are working thru very similar setups and rigs.
If you pick just one of the 'big ones' you'll likely end up with a great plugin able to make most sounds you want so eh, it's a good time to be in for the average (amateur) bedroom-musician
@@wavewithus4081 it is like the metalcore decade. one thing is sure, it will end.
@@scentia_est what will end? You mean the djent side of metal rn? As much as I LOVE djent, I hope it ineed does end sometime.. just so oversaturated rn. Imo it doesn't seem like genres ever end, tbf. Especially the core genres seem really stagnant and imo change wayyyy too slowly
@@FrancoW1 Exactly ! I've got the STL Tonality Josh Middleton plugin and a couple of Neural DSP plugins (NTS and Granophyre) and I really don't think I need any more at this point lol
I’m glad mixwave is getting some big names for their amp sims. Competition is gonna make Neural DSP try to do something different
Neural has been putting out the same thing over and over again. So yes they definitely need to be pushed!
@@7637garrettfo sure
Competition is always a wonderful thing for ANY market!
Tbh Neural will probably just pay a lot for a James hetfield plug-in or something instead of doing a new thing
@@7637garrett They're putting out the same thing over and over because fundamentally heavy music consists of 3 amps - 5150, dual rec, jcm 800. that's it. every other amp is just a copy of one of these and every plugin no matter how it's marketed is just a digital version of one of these amps.
once you've released all three of those amps there's not much else you can do in terms of heavy tones which isn't just a reskin/rebrand to try and resell you those amps.
I'm actually glad he didn't go with Neural lol. We would have had Nolly 2.0 and I think they should slow down on the Archetypes
Yeahhhh buddy! This plugin is absolutely killer.
The integrated input processing sets this apart from a lot of the other software amp sims out there.
It’s super handy for uber low tuned guitars
Oh fuck yes spiritbox plugin finally? Been waitin since the Constance playthrough on loudwires channel was it? Banging
Dat BASS! That's making this mix just as much as the guitar!
It’s Umansky Bass from Submission Audio! There’s an affiliate link in my description if you want to check it out
I don’t think I’ll pick up the plugin but I love Spiritbox. Saw them in Detroit this spring and they were absolutely killer. Also, I love those new sparkle burst guitars; such a unique finish.
Who cares
Sick review bro! Hope you're doing good!
Thanks dude, hope you’re well too!
Its crazy good
That guitar is fucking gorgeous
After using this for about an hour I fell in love with it. My favorite delay ever. All it needs is a doubler.
That finish SHEEESH
Nice. The demo song sounds like Loathe.
Damn this looks really cool. Love the flexibility
Damn this is feature packed, I think I'm gonna wait a few days and see wether people actually see this as a strong competitor against archetype nolly but yeah this looks sick
Nice demo… pls what’s the name of the drum library used in the demo? Thank you
The interface looks kinda cheap or 'dated' somehow..? Maybe I'm used to the expansive design look of the DSP plugins but somehow this one (visually) looks like it could have come out in 2010.
Its just the visuals so it shouldnt matter but it is pretty noticably uglier than other modern amp sims
sweet Jackson
How’s the pitch shift sound? Considering buying this.
I’m a little sad he didn’t go with Neural DSP (just for user interface sake) but super hyped to try this out!
Hey Keyan! Just curious did you use the Unmansky instrument for the DI only and process it with something like Parallax? Or did you actually mix this with the grit channel? Just curious what your chain in the DAW was for the bass!
What is the exact guitar chain for this one? Awesome video as always
Guitar>Radial JDI DI box>Focusrite 4i4>plugin
Have you put the presets you made for this anywhere? I was looking through the links and I couldnt find it, but maybe I just missed it.
Just bought a license, tell Mike he owes you money!
Can you load your own IR's in the plugin? Didnt see that feature.... : (
Question. What pickups are in this guitar? and what are your favorite pickups for Heavy/clarity sounding guitar?
The pickups in this guitar are Fishman Open Cores. I usually play Bare Knuckle Pickups, so I’ll be swapping these out soon
Thanks for the reply. What are your favorite bare knuckles? Im thinking about getting some Juggernauts soon. Do you prefer any over those? @@KeyanHoushmandLive
How are you liking the new Jackson? Contemplating making the purchase!
Really enjoying it so far, pretty much the perfect modern metal 7 string for most use cases
Is there’s midi patch switching?
How’s the transpose feature from mixwave, in comparison to neural dsp’s?
Better, more tight and clear from my experience so far.
I just really appreciate that there is a ring mod 😮 I would be tempted to go for that disgusting Car Bomb sound
can you describe the ring mod pedal? im getting a mixed idea of what it is i think
1:11 the guitar : "hehe I'm in danger"
Sorry I will never tire of making this joke
How would you rank this plugin up against the nolly plugin?
I'd like to see that as well.
They both have a Marshall and a 5150.
How do people keep getting these really clear chimey tones from these plugins. I downloaded the trial for this and it sounds so muddy no matter what I do. My archetype gojira sounds great but I can’t get any clear gain tones from this one, can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong
Kinda offtopic - what drum library was used in the demo?
Does Mixwave have any trial periods for the plugins?
7-days, currently $60 off rn too
Will the tuner translate the transposed notes?
got the plugin, but don't see your presets in there!
Botched install? or are yours not available in the sim
this VST has midi changes for the presets
New Jackson ??
This is great and I love Mike he’s a killer player but like there’s a million plugins already that do these sound. That being said my dumbass will still prolly buy it.
1:11 sounds like my stomach when I'm hungry
I thought they would have went with Neural DSP.
thank god they didnt
Would be almost exactly the same as all their other plugins
think I saw that Mike uses an axe fx live now so it might have been awkward for him to use neural for this. Also I don’t think neural plug ins let you move things around like this one does but I could be wrong
@@johnevered9640you're right, moving things around is pretty cool, but I'm sure Neural would have been able to do that, if he requested it.
Just they already have at least 3 high gain Marshalls, several 5150s and a dedicated Soldano plugin...🤷🏻♂️
Archetype Nolly covers all that (except the Soldano) and they even used it for their rhythm guitars on the eternal blue album.
Considering Neural has 3 5150s (Gojira, Nolly, and Plini), the Soldano, and a shit ton of Marshalls, they'll be fine. Besides, Neural has been doing different stuff lately (minus Tom Morello).
As always - amazing video. Is it possible to ask questions regarding the guitar tone on patreon, for example? I’ve tried all the tutorials on your channel, but still can’t get anyhow similar to such bright, melodic and soft high notes. I’ve got bare knuckle pickups, scarlet solo audio interface and many other tools same as yours. Tried different IR even, but the guitar sounds almost the same. I’d appreciate any help here
Dude the string noise!! You gotta cut the room mic when demoing the tone. All I can hear is the clack of the strings
I knew it i called this months ago
Did it pick up?
How'd you know?
When he switched from QC to AxeFX live?
@@josuastangl7140 He's using 5150III Stealths atm. He uses the Fractal for his FX. Kinda like what Petrucci does with his JP2C.
Is this a stand alone plugin?
I see now that it is!
What does this plug in actually plug into? Computer specs: Windows 95 with 4 MB RAM, 420 MB HDD, 128 cache RAM, VESA Local bus motherboard, dual-speed internal CD-ROM, 16-bit sound card and quality stereo speakers
they let you move the chorus. thank christ. i am SO tired of all these plugins having the chorus stuck before the amp. it never sounds right to me. just let me move it, neural
Graphic design created straight from 2013. It visually looks terrible, sounds great tho sure.
0:56 Is the youtube subscribe bell part of the demo?
this plugin has everything i want, the only thing i miss is a noise supressor i don't know why companies don't use it
If you switch out the Soldano for an extra Lead and a clean amp, you get all of that with Archetype Nolly
This has a noise gate
Every plug-in legit has a noise gate…..
If you release this song you have to keep the bell dong in there. I refuse to listen to it without it.
arent like... half or almost all of these plugins literally just variations of a solando, an orange, or a marshall with the slight variation here and there? what's the point of buying so many plugins, just get something good enough at a cheep price like amplitube 5. it goes all the way to 100 dollars for the full thing. it's well worth it
anyone else thinks that the turn knobs on the amps are visually not readable?
Does it come with a button to engage Braunsteins hilarious 15 separate EQ's sucking the life out of it?
Sounds like every other high gain amp sim
You talk wayyy too much.
How does the transposer work? I keep getting my original sound coming through my output instead of just the sound of the transposer.
