I use cole jaws to finish off my segment rings on both sides sit them aside and after I mount a waste block on the spindle I load each segment on my cole jaws on a live center on my tailstock automatically centering up the ring and continue after the glue has dried. It eliminates a press altogether.
I'm curious about how you replace the bottom MDF piece with the center hole in it after you've glued up (and turned) all your rings. I'm new at this and trying to figure it out. Thanks.
I'm sorry, but I do not have a video of making this bowl. I just used it as an example to show the ring centering tool. If you are curious about the feature ring - I got the idea from Malcom Tibbit's book "The Art of Segmented Turning" If you are looking for how I put the entire bowl together, Then there are numerous videos on building segmented rings into bowls. I would start with learning about the wedgie sled by Jerry Bennett. He has videos about it here also.
