as long as there is a long build up it works great. I am doing all of these mixes with hybrid trap with varying levels of success. He literally has the perfect vocal loop, and using a kick or a snare also works but not as well.
Love this video!! Thank you! So creative. I’ve been finding ways to use and get these similar things on my REV1 in Serato lite. Have to move more diligent and quicker but it’s worth the work i enjoy being human lol. “Easy” is for chumps & robots!!
This is a really great video, loved the different techniques and really well explained and demonstrated! Also loved the background visuals! Great work team crossfader.
I agree- that initial loop technique is whack as heck. Try looping rhythmic material, or areas of the outgoing track where the melodic elements are still present but more sparse, then let the mix ride for a while for a long blend. This has a way of making it feel like a track is always slightly different when you play it. Admittedly, this works better for deep tech styles that I favor, rather than drop-heavy genres.
That tech works so good for drop heavy genres, you can loop a melodic section from the incoming track for a good while than mix normally and it just makes the two tracks more glued together.
I use the trans and filter a lot. The only time I trigger a loop for a stutter effect outside of adding some effects to it might be when I loop a previous tracks hi hat and use it to intensify a build up, but i also try to filer, echo, dub echo maybe, or reverb which is my favorite and as the loop speeds up I crank the reverb while I'm pulling the fader down for whoosh.
Liked this video as a DJ from way back I’m Getting back into it using a DDJ and could get into loops then kind of just got stuck in them not knowing how to get out of them
Can you guys ever teach something about tribe house or EDM music ? They are very very popular at circuit parties , lots of people love it and there are absolutely no videos online teaching any skills about it .
These approaches are used in those genres and EDM is popular but Psytrance (tribe music) not really, its more like a side hustel for a lot of dj´s. Regardless when summer ends both of those genres die down until NYE and then die down again until summer.
another technique you had shown in an older video was using the different loop lengths via the performance pads alternating between halving and doubling was an excellent way to spice up a loop-based transition or hitting “in” rhythmically
Can you guys please do a video on properly layering progressive house? There is loads of looping involved but in a very different way as with this classic house style
Everything he does can be translated easily to engine os controllers. The functionality is the same. But it would be nice to see Denon featured more often.
For the pitch thing.. I assume you're using the tempo slider to accommodate for as many controllers as possible? Or is there a reason not to use the FLX10's pitch knob in this case?
I watch 3 videos of yours and you use the FLEX10 I am here practicing on My Flex4 But i have a New Flex10 unopen would you recommend i drop the F4 for the 10 so i get use to it. Is the F10 you main controller or you use 3000 and controller
Hey guys, just one question. When changing the tempo range, I guess you can only apply it on a track that is at its original BPM. Otherwise, the BPM will drastically change. Any ideas of how to bypass this ? Thank you for the awesome video as usual. Always learning !
I think you have to do it right after you load the track before you start the actual mix. Otherwise you can try to move the tempo fader slowly until it matches the position of the BPM and then adjust from there, but that doesn't always work.
I'm used to the buttons now, but this is the #1 thing that NI did better than Pioneer in controller design, and a significant omission on the CDJ-3000 and the FLX-10. WTH did Alpha Theta only put that on the Opus Quad which is not a performance-style oriented device?
For the method at 3:50 do you by chance know anything about making the same exact vinyl brake speed adjustment on XDJ-RX3’s? I believe it must be a mistake in their software in regards to RX3s as I’ve tried them on 2 different decks and different laptops and you cannot adjust the vinyl brake speed via rekordbox, only the release/start speed, the brake speed is grayed out for whatever reason. You can adjust the speed via the decks themselves however only in certain increments which doesn’t help as they’re not really to my liking or need, it is nearly impossible to replicate many methods that incorporate this feature.

This video is very much specific for tech house music I think. I like the more natural long loops to blend tracks more naturally.
as long as there is a long build up it works great. I am doing all of these mixes with hybrid trap with varying levels of success. He literally has the perfect vocal loop, and using a kick or a snare also works but not as well.
same, this is quite boring and repetitive, you wanna use loops for on the fly bootlegs, mixing etc...

That's really appreciated. Really glad you found it useful

This is the way
Nicely put.
Agree..I'm pretty beginner with DJ'n but this is how I naturally started using loops

James Hype Style of transition
This was being implemented by the likes of Roger Sanchez long before James Hype.
Boring and repetitive james hype imo
Gets old quick.
Very useful technique. Thanks for that !
Love the trans play one
Damn Bro. That was a very good video. Thank you so much ❤
Our Pleasure!
very very good tutorial 10/10 keep it up
Glad it helped

Use the pitch effect on cfx is better because you stay in grid, then go to cue the loop and go
Interesting, I thought that was a useless effect but that explains it. I'll try that.
Thank you so much, for bring us another cool way to get more fun mixes, again....😊
Glad you enjoy it!
Great tutorial! Love your work! ❤
That 2nd track coming in is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That was super wonderful to learn!
Thank you!
Nice one Loz. You know what my favourite video is? The DDJ 1000 Old school mix from Jamie, it really needs a FLX 10 make over though. 👌
Awesome example of beginner to advance.
Glad you liked it
I learned alot from this. Thank you.
The last one how to james hype hahaha good video!!!

Love it!!
Nice video!!
Great video! Thanks so much
Glad it was helpful!
Fun fact: The effect "Trans" is actually short for Transform 😉
Thank u brother
That is very great video ❤ thanks man
Glad you liked it!
Great video!
Much appreciated!
Thanks for this.
Any time
Amazing
Nice tricks! Thank you!
No problem! Thanks for tuning in
Very nice 👌
Thank you very much. Bro
Always welcome
Loops are fundamental for mixing, but I don't like in "solo" mode. ( I'm talking about the bar where is playing only the loop of the out song)
AFTWR RENISA & Tool Cool - To Be Cameless (Soo Eccamelid Edit)
would be nice to see some lessons using Denon controllers, dont seem to see much out there
That’s probably on purpose. I’d imagine some brands will pay or be paid to be seen as the ‘industry standard’ within the community.
Everything he does can be translated easily to engine os controllers. The functionality is the same. But it would be nice to see Denon featured more often.

Inspiring, but nothing can beat a transition based on good phrasing choices. A little bit to show off as a DJ but used very sparingly I guess.

Looping is so much easier with a loop encoder compared to a in out button! 🤦🏾♂️👎🏾
Always appreciate your input, man!
What is that?
@@LaplacianFourier a knob that is also a button
Yeah I hate it too. It has no place in rap at least that kind of loop
I'm used to the buttons now, but this is the #1 thing that NI did better than Pioneer in controller design, and a significant omission on the CDJ-3000 and the FLX-10. WTH did Alpha Theta only put that on the Opus Quad which is not a performance-style oriented device?
Proper title lol facts
🔥
Top
I didn't hate it before but I do certainly do now! But big-room transitions are not my cup of tea anyway. So never mind.
Hij witch controller you use? , thanks
You can see the name on the bottom left of the mixer and he even said it is the ddj-flx10
God I wish there was a technique that wasn't only for tech house.
only number 4

Do you have the same for a 1210?
IS THIS IN THE HOUSE MUSIC COURSe ?
This technique is boring, let me show you how to do it. Nice.
Hahaha hey, someone was bound to ask how to do it in the comments
How can I put it in wide on denon sc live 4
James Hype..
Is this for rekord box only 🤔
Applies across various softwares, it’s really the technique and principle that’s important here.
As a raver I hate this mixing technique. So much cheese
Do what you think is best kids. It’s not really that hard.
Man butchering this masterpiece track to create some cheesy James Hype type transition would kill me if i was on the floor
Step one - spent £1500+ on a controller …
Forget to say i will be 69 next month
I hope you had to hate looping due to shitty pioneer orange buttons instead of encoders
this is useless
Love Lawrence
