I saw him at the Rio a few years earlier.. I was standing at the back of the (small) club. He kept looking over at me, which was startling enough, then the lights went out and a spotlight came up on me. Then all of a sudden I realized he was behind me up on the ramp (but he wasn't even 5' so he was almost at the same level as me). He was pretty much standing right next to me in a pose, wearing a purple jumpsuit with the chest cut out. Almost immediately after turning around it dawned on me that I was about to get crushed by women, so I quickly stepped to the side. They all stopped on a dime right in front of him and he sang a ballad. Played for over three hours, incredible guitar playing, had the twins singing backup. We bought the ticket for 100 and didn't even know if he was going to go on- there were no promises made, it might have just been a club night where they played his music. Was a shock when he came out. Full of surprises that guy.
