Fr, this is the reason why not all ppl should have pets if they can’t take care and love them. Who wouldn’t want a loving and affectionate pet? I would definitely have adopted Jerry, I’m not even a cat person but I love animals and am willing to love and care for them. I’m happy he’s in a happy home with loving owners now.

I had a friend whom I lived with shortly with a cat like this, and she hated him. He became my kitty when I was staying there, but unfortunately I wasn't able to take him with me when I left, but thankfully she gave him to a coworker of hers with kids who could play with him. It really wasn't fair what she'd scream at him for doing normal cat things-- she wanted a cat that was basically just a shadow at the food bowl and couldn't appreciate his amazing little soul. I miss that cat. Never understand why you'd even want an animal if you expect to never interract with it.
Because they wanted the cat to be re-homed to someone who wanted them and would appreciate them? This is what you're supposed to do if you can't/won't look after an animal anymore, lots of people just abandon them somewhere

The female dog, a half Dingo half Dachshund aka a "Wild Dog", who's 16 years old now, has been very aloof her whole life. Then again, she was extremely abused when i got her. A year old and the first thing i had to do after picking her up is get shotgun pellets removed from weeping hold in her body. I worked with he for years, and she truly became a happy and far less emotionally damaged dog. But it had permanent effects on her. She is INCREDIBLY brilliant, far more than any dog I have ever known. So, she literally just does her own thing. She has always lived her own life alongside me. It's like having a good friend for a roommate. They love you but they don't rely on you in a "best friend" type relationship. But you know they will never trash your house, and you only have to ask them once to do something and you know it will get done. However, if you want to spend time with her, then you better make sure that you are doing something special. Because she wouldn't be caught dead awkwardly sitting there watching a movie with you. Lol Meanwhile, as far as the cats are concerned... It's the Female that is so full of love, I believe she thinks that she may actually implode if she doesn't express it. She was a "dire situation" rescue. She should be dead, after all she was when I found her. (2 days old, had never been fed, already had a massive upper respiratory infection that caused her still sealed eyes to be two massive bulges, and quite literally frozen solid. That day and the following 3 weeks were some of the most difficult, heartbreaking, mentally scarring, and downright horrific of my life. The vet said she was a lost cause and wouldn't do anything, but i managed to get them to give me a ton of different antibiotics. Then proceeded to do everything myself. I don't know how, but despite the many complications and setbacks, she lived. She is not 5 years old. Yeah, she has an obsession with food... but a good size. And yes, she is partially blind, but at least I kept her eyes from having to be removed. (The vet said in the 1 in 1mil odds she lived her eyes wouldnt.) And the pain she had to go through caused me to want NOTHING but happiness for her since. So yeah, shes spoiled. Shes a beautiful Ragdoll, and they are already loving. So when i say shes abnormally affectionate, I mean it. For example, 90% of her day is spent having to be touching me. And she gets so emotionally stimulated when she gets scritched, that when she goes to meow at me drool pours from her mouth. She had accidentally drooled right into my mouth countless times while standing on my chest and trying to ACTUALLY give me a kiss. Definitely gross, but incredibly endearing. The male however was another wild rescue. A Maine Coon × Himalayan mix, also under a week old. He's more of a case that has to do with being a massive male cat that was born wild. He just doesn't see me as an equal lol he always seems worried thay if we were to play how he wants, he could hurt me. So, he just doesn't interact with me much. Lol he's a one person cat, and he chose my roommate instead. As he's another big male. Lol At the end of the day, the level at which they choose to show love towards you depends on how you have raised them and what they have gone through in life before you. On top of the built in genetic aspects of their personalities.
Our cat was a stray and was so frightened when she came to live with us. I promised her I would never be too busy for a pet or scratch behind the ear. It took courage to trust humans again, but she did it! Now you would think we had her since she was a kitten.
That poor, sweet boy! I can’t imagine how sad he must have been to be in that shelter. I’m so glad there are great people out there who adopt pets that have been surrendered or are otherwise without homes! God bless you.

I have a boy cat, who just loves me.. his dad. He must be on my chest rubbing his face on my beard, my face, nibbles my nose and ears, with his arms hugging my neck. when I sit in my recliner he drapes himself over the headrest and puts his paws on the side of my face. The whole time he just rattles contently. He has no concept of personal space, and I would t have it any other way. ❤
My cat is like this. Chatting all the time and follows me. Very vocal. We rescued her from a drain pipe. Took a long time to catch her and her siblings and mom. They all found homes and we kept her. She waits for me to get home and tries to lead me to the couch to snuggle ❤️ I could never reject her.
As someone with a really affectionate cat, I can’t imagine. Yes, sometimes I need my space, but I would never bring him to a shelter for that. I love him with whole my heart and he is just perfect the way he is.

I have my lovely sweet boy Parmesan who is just the most affectionate and lovable cat ever. He always greets me when I comeback home, meows at me for attention, sits or lays on top of me and just loves cuddles and petting. I would never trade him or give him up for anything in the world. I may sound stupid or silly when I talk to him in a baby voice but the pure unconditional love he has is evident in his eyes and purrs.

Yep! I wanted an affectionate cat until I got one. Had no idea how nerve wrecking that can be. Cat demanded endless scratching and was OCD obsessed with getting me to obey. But I did keep my cat. After a few years we both learned to compromise.

Both pets and kids are routinely rehomed because people do not understand what the experience is going to be like until they already have them. Rehomed for abuse, neglect, or simply not wanting the responsibility anymore. It sucks, but I'd rather that than* them being in a home where they're not loved or mistreated. 😔

He must be on my chest rubbing his face on my beard, my face, nibbles my nose and ears, with his arms hugging my neck. when I sit in my recliner he drapes himself over the headrest and puts his paws on the side of my face. The whole time he just rattles contently.
He has no concept of personal space, and I would t have it any other way.

My cat is like this. Chatting all the time and follows me. Very vocal. We rescued her from a drain pipe. Took a long time to catch her and her siblings and mom. They all found homes and we kept her. She waits for me to get home and tries to lead me to the couch to snuggle ❤️ I could never reject her.
I've never heard of a pet being too affectionate. I'm baffled ..that person should never have gotten a pet other than a pet rock! 🖤💚❤!

As someone with a really affectionate cat, I can’t imagine. Yes, sometimes I need my space, but I would never bring him to a shelter for that. I love him with whole my heart and he is just perfect the way he is.

I have my lovely sweet boy Parmesan who is just the most affectionate and lovable cat ever. He always greets me when I comeback home, meows at me for attention, sits or lays on top of me and just loves cuddles and petting. I would never trade him or give him up for anything in the world. I may sound stupid or silly when I talk to him in a baby voice but the pure unconditional love he has is evident in his eyes and purrs.

this is so sad. I‘m glad to hear he has a GOOD family. I have a cat that wants affection at all times and tries to lay on top of me 1/2 of the day, yeah it‘s annoying at times but he‘s always gonna be welcome in this home because we love him, that person just didn‘t love him at all.

The original owner may not have know that they couldn't handle an affectionate cat before they got him. AND, they didn't just dump him they took him to a shelter to find him a home. They did nothing wrong here.
Yep! I wanted an affectionate cat until I got one. Had no idea how nerve wrecking that can be. Cat demanded endless scratching and was OCD obsessed with getting me to obey. But I did keep my cat. After a few years we both learned to compromise.

Both pets and kids are routinely rehomed because people do not understand what the experience is going to be like until they already have them. Rehomed for abuse, neglect, or simply not wanting the responsibility anymore. It sucks, but I'd rather that than* them being in a home where they're not loved or mistreated. 😔
