Was it worth it?

Looks amazing Andy. Very impressive
Looks great!
Thanks for this! Was looking at a few of the DETOLF but this is much more practical. I've got minis and Gundams, and I think it will be good for both!
Having a glass all around isnt too idea for lighting though.
.gotta take tht into consideration as well as cleaning .
That's very nice!
Nice! I have a 4 by 4 Kallax unit with a bunch of dividers, but no glass doors - dust is my enemy. I also have 12 shelves. I still don't have enough room - if there's a flat space in my hobby room, it will get covered.
I've identified a spot for a 4x1 unit if I eventually fill this one entirely.
Looks very nice mate, I’m looking to get a similar set in the next month or so, so nice to see it set up 👍
Looking forward to seeing all 56 of your KoW armies on display.
@@Andy2D6 🤷♂️😉😂😂
Great looking solution. I saw a great solution on a HeroQuest Facebook page the other day and asked the guy what it was. He said his neighbour was throwing out an old DVD storage unit/shelf and by god it's the perfect size for miniatures without the usual problem of far too much height on a standard bookshelf. Going to investigate this solution.
For display quality or small amounts of extra special miniatures I'd want something shallow. The one I've gone for is good for display/storage hybrid.
Brilliant video moving and can't fit Billy's in my new room so been looking at these this was really helpful does the unit com with a backing ?
The unit does not come with a backing, but the inserts have backs.
I've got "some detolf" a "corner but not detolf" and a "light up shadowbox coffee table" I made from 1.5 flatpack tables and some amazon lights that burnt out
We use the kallax cube for wargame and board game storage, but use the ikea detolf cabinets for miniature display
I'm one step away from replacing all my furniture with Kallax.
Wish the glass inserts were available in the US unfortunately it’s been really difficult to find good display options here
Wow! Ferrero Roche boxes for me :D (mainly due to lack of space).
Is that the undead halfling army that was up on ebay a while back? That looked excellent.
Yes. I decided not to sell them in the end, since I made extra space.
Ultimate Kallax Dream
But never enough...
Hobby goal defined
It's long been a dream of mine.
Do you have a link to this one? Tempted to copy your brilliance.
I'll add links to all the components to the description when I get home today.
Done.
That's awesome! I'm not sure I have enough wall space for my stuff =/ I'm currently building shelving to house my collection (which are in boxes mostly, 12X12X3ish scrapbook boxes)
Getting them out of the boxes for display is a kind of therapy.
@@Andy2D6 understandable - there's really nothing like seeing all your hobby on display, it's awesome :D
Great job. Is it possible to have it wall mounted or does it have to be resting on the floor?
One this size would probably have to be touching the floor. It's a beast. Some of the smaller ones are suitable for wall mounting.
This is amazing! Nice find. Is there any gap around the glass fronts? Be interested to know how much, if any, dust creeps in. Even Ikea Detolfs let some dust in, unless you rig them with excluders. EDIT: Looks like a tiny gap so shouldn't be a big issue.
I will report back in a few months with the level of dust.
@@Andy2D6 Please do. I would like a full scientific analysis if at all possible.
@@Andy2D6 did you gey a report
@@masterballuk6780 There is no dust problem yet.
Hrmm I could use a corner unit for that
I've put in one of these units recently and have started putting in the glass inserts. Did you have an issue with the wall anchors getting in the way of the inserts?
@@SuperRoganjosh I didn't use the standard wall anchors. I attached it to the wall on top using some wood. I didn't want to risk them getting in the way. The inserts fill the entire cube.
Need some lights inside.
Do they not sell this in the US? Can't find it on their website.
they have the unit and the glass shelves but not the glass doors
the glass door isn't available in the US :(
That is sad. Do they have something similar?
@@Andy2D6 The only Kallax doors they have are solid here. Shame, because I love this solution.
They don't sell those doors in Australian 💔
There is space between glass and frame? Dust it's a killer in this type of displays.... :(
It is possible to dust-proof the unit. Maybe when I save some more money.
@@Andy2D6 looks dope still! But I had a Ikea old glass shelve and was a dust trap. This one seems less of a problem, maybe using insulating rubber tape for the glass to close properly against the sides..
looking at about £750 now'a days for that :/
